Solon Police Officers Shooting Involved

SOLON, Ohio -- The city's police department released today the names of the two officers who were involved in a fatal shooting of a 22-year-old Lucas County man on March 17.

The officers were identified as Patrolmen Steven Davis and Nicholas Kline, who stopped Kevin Bailey, on Bainbridge Road at Sharondale Drive about 9:45 p.m.

Bailey, of Sylvania Township, then drove off. He was found a short time later when his car hit a curb on Sunnywood Drive.

Before the two officers could get out of their cruisers, Bailey shot at them with a semi-automatic pistol, striking Davis in the arm and his bulletproof vest, according to the news release from the Solon Police Department. The two officers returned fire. Bailey died at the scene.

Davis, a member of the South East Area Law Enforcement SWAT Team, has been with the department since 2008 and Kline, a member of the Valley Enforcement Group SWAT Perimeter Team, since 2009.
