good point, but he's pointing out the ones that go so far extreme with it. take me, for example. i wear a simple pin on my hat that says "brony" on it with a silhouette of rainbow dash. if someone asks me about it, i will tell them. however, i'm not going to go out of my way to tell everyone i see about how awesome the show is. it's ok to be outspoken about your passion, just don't be an asshole about it.

Why though? I wear my Seattle Mariners hoodie to school, and parade the fact that I love baseball and it's the best sport there is, no one gives two fucks. I do that with MLP and instant shitstorm. You can be an asshole with many of your passions and be fine, especially things like video games or sports, but bring in MLP well

You're overexaggerating, there's plenty of areas where people don't talk about ponies.

You're probably just confusing "talking about ponies" with "seeing a single shred of evidence of ponies"

And there are many more areas where people don't talk about baseball.

Continuing on that, there are much fewer shreds of evidence of baseball than there are ponies.

In both cases, one is more obnoxious than the other, and it isn't America's favorite pastime.

Well that's a little unfair now, because MLP is primarily an internet centered thing. I'm fairly sure there are plenty of places where people can't escape baseball, or any other sport, out IRL. Anime is also pretty damn dominate on the internet, but that's come to be accepted as a social norm.

Hell, I don't even like football, and my dad has it on the TV blaring all season long. Imagine what social areas (such as bars and the like) must be like, and think of the sports fans that hound after fans of opposing teams.

Also, at least bronies don't start riots over ponies.

So it is unfair for me to say that ponies are more widespread on the internet than baseball is, but there's nothing wrong with talking about baseball being more widespread IRL while comparisons are being drawn between the two? I mean really; I make a true statement, and I get "hey, that's not fair, it shines a negative light on my fandom. But what the other guy said, that defended my fandom, that's a good argument. I like him."
Plus, you're focusing on only one part of my comment. Baseball is an extremely popular sport. The vast majority of people either like it, or they are neutral towards it.
My Little Pony is a popular show as far cartoons go, but it isn't even close to being the most popular show on tv. The vast majority of people either feel nothing towards it, or dislike it.
Obviously one is going to be more open to group discussion than the other. And to be fair, depending on what zephyr meant with "parading" his love for baseball around, he could be just as obnoxious to be around as someone parading their love for ponies. If you're parading around an opinion different from everyone around you, you're going to be put in a bad spot. Whether that's ranting about how well your favorite team is performing to a bunch of people who like their rival, or spouting off about the magic of friendship to a bunch of people who don't like my little pony, someone is going to tell you to fuck off. The world isn't this wonderful rainbows and sparkles filled wonderland where everyone accepts everyone else. It never will be.


And no, bronies don't go out tipping cop cars, but hey, internet based community. There was that whole passive-aggressive whining about Derpy, though. You know, unimportant background character who sounded retarded, got reworked, and the group collectively flipped its shit.

You know, I really don't want to address that entire comment, because you're right. I'm half asleep here, with a bit of a headache and I derped a little in my response. I was referring to how you said one is more obnoxious than the other, but completely forgot that we're talking about an -internet- only area, and baseball IS a much less prevalent thing to MLP in that regard, of course, so I withdraw my previous reply.

Tell you what though, you might be able to escape the talk of dubstep and baseball by going to the internet, but there are plenty of things you wont be able to escape on the internet itself, not just ponies. The thing to ask, though, is if you're going to be bothered by ponies if you're escaping the talk of baseball. because, inversely, you can escape ponies by going into real life.

And on a final note, some fans were upset at that, yeah. It was typical fan reaction to something that the vast majority of us didn't agree with. A chick made the mistake of making a less-than-stellar review of "The Dark Knight Rises," and received tens of thousands of hatemail/death threats by batman fans. nothing was really made of that.

Most of us are well aware of how strange it looks. We just don't really care lol. This guy had a good point, a lot of bronys take it a little too far. Unfortunately they make the rest of us look like obsessive fanatics too.

Two reasons really;
A) I am not that big a fan, sure it's fun to watch, but i never buy any merch or go to gatherings

B) I really hate the reputation bronies have. It's developed into a word of hate, kinda like when younger kids call each other gay.
