then they're not autistic. maybe they have asberger's, but actual autistic people, like my brother, cannot drive. they're about as functional as most tards. sometimes less.

Autism isn't retardation, it's expressing emotions and and thoughts differently

not just differently, it means having extreme difficulty communicating thoughts and emotions. i never said they were retarded, i said they are as difficult as people who are

more respectful? i don't understand you're comment. i'm telling the truth, not an opinion. they are very difficult to deal with. i wasn't calling them retarded, i was just comparing their disability to people who are.

i know. again, i wasn't calling autistic people or ppl with asberger's retarded. i was saying that people like my brother, with actual autism, not asberger's, are as difficult to deal with as someone with some form of retardation, unlike asberger's, who can deal almost as well with people as those without a disorder (compared to autism anyway)

there is such a thing as "functioning" autism. I know a few highly functioning autistic people myself; they drive perfectly fine and one is even a spectacular athlete

Firstly, Asberger's is still Autism, as it's a certain degree of Autism. There is also a degree called high functioning Autism, which is where the person still has Autism, but are even more high functioning than people with Asberger's. I know many people with Autism who function pretty well in scociety, and my cousin has suspected Autism, and is a very good driver. My little brother also has Autism, but I doubt he'll be able to drive because he has extreme incompetency, which is probably what you're thinking of, but just because somebody is Autistic doesn't mean they're incompetent, as I know several where the only problems they have is dealing with other people.

You do know that Asperger syndrome is a form of Autism right?

i'm not an idiot, i know it's a form of autism. but asberger's refers specifically to the most high-functioning form of it, whereas using the word autism instead of asbergers generally means the opposite end of the spectrum. i did a report on this for school, and again, i have an autistic brother. i know what i'm talking about.

I never said you were an idiot, I asked if you knew what asperger syndrome was and told you you to rethink your comment, I understood what you meant, you just phrased it badly.

And I have asperger syndrome as well as diagnosed OCD I think I know what I'm talking about as well.

If someone is having that much trouble getting their car door unlocked, they shouldn't really be allowed to drive in the first place anyways drunk or not.
