Fucking Gurren Lagann

yes watched it in one sitting. Good anime, entertaining but overhyped as shit.
Characters are archetypes, evil guy is the misunderstood type. mechas, boobies, speeches about friendship, love and trust - seen these things a million times in animes.
Still one of the few i watched in one sitting and the animations are fucking gorgeous.

Don't get me wrong i don't hate it. It's not bad it is just not the masterpiece everyone thinks it is. Again watch Mushi-Shi then you'll know what a real masterpiece is.

However, I could watch Mushi-Shi and say the exact same. At the end of the day, it boils down to taste.

Screaming, stupidly sized robots, and ridiculous proportions on a fourteen year old girl with a fucking giant rifle? You may not like it, but others will.

And hey, if making each side stereotypical works, then why the fuck not? Damn near anything can be pulled off well. Like a turd on a McDonalds bathroom floor. Someone's gonna be able to make it better than it actually is.

BUT that's like saying transformers can be as much a masterpiece as shawshank.

To some, it can be.

well yes that's right, it is about perspective but there are norms by which something is considered good. and gurren does not meet them in my eyes. It is totally my opinion i know but imagine gurren would be a movie or a book you think it would be as critically acclaimed as it is in the anime world

and no you can't say that about mushi-shi because it's on of a kind and not a money making show like gurren, i mean admit it. They didn't make his to tell a story that was something fond to the writers. They made this to sell toys and shit. But mishi-shi shows that it was made by people who love what their doing no matter how successful it will be.
