I had one with a semi-broken carburetor on it, so the throttle would get stuck on full sometimes.
Now, with a normal bike this wouldn't be a problem, just hit the clutch, but these things don't have clutches. Also, the brakes are rarely strong enough to slow them down to a stop if the engine is going full power.
what you need to do is lunge at the key and kill the ignition, but it takes a while to figure that out, especially when you're going full speed uncontrollably, and all your instincts tell you to keep a firm grip of the handle bars. It was extra hard on mine, because the key was located down in front of my knees, and wouldn't always turn without being jiggled first.
