This ad is using a technique called transfer, making people feel good about something in order to sell a product. For example in a lot of ad's you see a happy family eating KFC (or something) and your brain connects that feeling of happy and KFC, now you are more likely to buy KFC to have a happy family dinner

I just hate that they have to commercialise a great ad like this.
"You can do great things, you can change the world... but only as long as you buy our product!"

Think of it like this: A company is paying to put these moments on the air, and in doing so is exposing people to the kindness and humanity depicted therein. Sure money is their goal, and so to them the end justifies the means. But can't the means also be worth something? Can't we let them justify the end?

True.
But I find it difficult to do that when I know that the ends are just about making as much money as possible.

It is sad, and they are just after profit, but I find it comforting that they choose to chase that bottom line like this. There are companies out there who actually harm their own products and don't even bother to send out positive messages like this. (I'm looking at you Activision) Plus, at least they don't put the other coke their stuff anymore. That's always a plus.

Most ads for products are like "HOLY SHIT THIS IS WHY OUR PRODUCT WILL MAKE ALL YOUR DREAMS COME TRUE" and Coke instead chose to take a medium we normally use to see criminals, and showed a refreshingly positive side of it. It doesn't make me want to drink soda, it makes me feel good.

And THAT is where the marketing lies, and where the better ads are headed these days. I enjoyed the commercial, as opposed to skipping over it like I would with most ads. In the end, I don't care if it was a coke commercial or not. I just enjoyed it.
