I was going to be polite with this but I'm just going to come out and say it.: Fuck you.
I liked this video. It wasn't 'laugh out loud' funny but it was pretty neat. Their video editing skills are great and the jokes weren't too terrible.
The 'issue' that you are addressing here is something that has been going on since the beginning of spoken words. Do you remember the phrase 'Where's the beef?'? Do you remember when 'The Hangover' came out and all 'cool' people decided that it was the best thing ever to quote it? Do you remember these things being repeated over and over again until you wanted to rip off your ears? These are just two very small examples from our very recent past of what we would could define as 'IRL' memes.
Now, keep my last point in your head as you read something that you need to know.
YOU ARE NOT SPECIAL. I'm not saying this in the sense that you do not have talents or that you may not stand out. What I mean by this is that you apparently think that the internet is some sort of special club for the elite. You may deny it. Say that I'm 'putting words in your mouth'. I know that you think this because of your use of the words 'oldfag' and 'mainstream'. Jokes that are shared on the internet are NOT special jokes reserved for special people. The internet is not a secret club with high standards and restrictions. I wish that people would stop using scape goats for their 'internet problems'. You say: 'All our problems and overuse of these jokes is the fault of preteens who will repeat it over and over again until it has no meaning.' I was 14 once. EVERYONE was 14 once. What do most preteens like to do? Well, they like to fit in and be part of their own special group.
Now... This is where everything fits together. You create this special club (Whether it may be /b/ or FJ) and have special jokes that you claim that only members have a right to use.

Someone 'infiltrates' your special club. They see past all your bullshit and see a joke that they really like. Do they hoard it for themselves? No! They share it with their friends. Their friends share it with their friends. So on and so forth. You become outraged. You comment about how they ripped it from your special club and had the nerve to share it with the 'untouchables'. The people who 'ripped' the joke don't give a shit about your crazed rantings but it does peak the interest of certain developing persons. They think 'Wow! This special club must be really exclusive if the members are so angry about this! Maybe if I post similar things they'll accept me and I can be special too!' They post the posts, tell the jokes, and buy the merchandise.
Now, who is to blame in this little tale? The joke stealer? The young person who wants acceptance? No. It the fucking elitist's fault. Had you not made up you 'special club' to be more important than it really is than none of this would have happened. The jokes would have been spread and then forgotten as soon as something new came along but since you would not let the club die you caused these things to fester and rot without being buried first.
And the beauty in all of this? You can leave at any time. Really. No one is making you stay behind. Instead of complaining about what's cool and what's lame on the internet you could go outside. Feed the poor or work on your long-abandoned hobbies from before the internet.
The alternative: If you really want to stay here for some strange reason (Even though you apparently think that the internet is a shit-hole) then stop complaining and create new, funny content. Rage comics were going to stop being funny even without the 'cancer'. Get over yourself and move on. Ignore the shit and appreciate the funny.

Hey, long comment Anon here. I apologize for telling you to fuck off because you are well-composed man.
The issue with the hype surrounding 4chan (even though the gore is /b/ only and cp means a permaban) is that many feel that they're a 'tough guy' for venturing into the black abyss that 4chan apparently is. In all reality, 4chan is a great site. A majority of users, in fact, do not like gore and cp and I enjoy the community (for the most part).
It's VERY hard to give credit to rage faces and other memes considering that they're exploitable images and often taken from multiple sources (Example: Dickbutt belongs to KC Green. So does Stare Dad, oddly enough.). It's also entirely possible for a person to have several sites that he/she visits (This brings the whole credit thing to new and complicated level because if a joke is shared between two /b/rothers on a different site does it still make it /b/'s joke?). It's true that it's hard to have other sites take credit for what 'your' site did but in the case of an exploitable image created by a completely anonymous person... Well... It's a little silly. It comes back to the special club mentality. If your were not directly involved in the process why are you so emotionally invested? It's a very hard question to answer.
Also, with all this cry for credit to be given just draws more attention. It's better to just lay low and correct people when it really matters. For example, Know Your Meme (As much as I hate Cheezburger for selling out in the worst way possible) makes sure to note roughly where the memes originated. If this is wrong, you may correct them. If someone thinks that 4chan sounds like a neat place to go then let them. If they are turned off by what they first see then they can go. If they decide to say then let them. Everyone was a newfag once. Especially me. *insert slideshow of regrets*
