These people at SOPA etc need to double check on the meaning of copyright.
Copyright stops (or at least tries to) people making money off other peoples work
Copyright infringement occurs when a person makes money from someone elses work.
ie, selling copied DVDs, games etc
This means the creator loses money, and the pirater (making copies to sell) recieves it.
Megaupload, Mediafire and other such websites DO NOT infringe copyright laws
Due to the fact they do not sell copyrighted material
Whilst there are some areas that require money, these are for the services provided by the website, such and faster downloading, larger upload space etc.
It does not cost anything to download a file, meaning this is not piracy, but file sharing.
Despite all this, it is the Amreican government who has stirred all this up, and being THE most influential government in the world (mainly from being the biggest country in the world) there is an incredibly slim chance this will be taken into concideration.
Okay, I'm done. Yeah, tl;dr and -9mill thummbs. But fuck it. I'm screwed anyway :(

That’s absurd. MegaUpload has had MILLIONS if not BILLIONS of downloads in it’s time, and if the government does have the files (which they probably do) and information of all of the people who download infringed material, and it’s $150,000 USD for every piece, then what are they going to do? No regular working person has a spare 150 grand lying around to pay a ticket. Therefore, they’re going to start arresting people. But how’s that going to work? It won’t. There’s no way that they’ll manage to put MILLIONS of people in jail for downloading stupid little Justin Bieber songs, or anything of that matter. Might as well build a wall around or country and change the slogan to the land of the fucked.
Fuck SOPA. Fuck PIPA. Fuck the internet. I love the internet. I love it with such a passion. If it gets ruined because of some greedy, stuck up assholes that only want a BIT more money (‘cause let’s face it, if it does pass they’ll only be making 1 or 2 million extra dollars, and that’s not much in the entertainment industry) I’m going to be pissed. We’re all going to be pissed. And do you know what happens when we’re all pissed? a revolution. So don’t be stupid, US government. Don’t try to arrest everyone that has downloaded from MegaUpload, Limewire, or any of those file sharing sites. Otherwise, the annoying little “attacks” you’re dealing with now, on the internet by homeuaxand other hackers, will turn into real shit. Millions of people will start rising and rallying up, and protesting, and shit, will, go, down.
