Destino: Walt Disney and Salvador Dali

This film was conceived by two of the greatest creative minds of the 20th century, Salvador Dali and Walt Disney.

They worked on the film for ages and drew up thousands of concept pictures from 1945-1946 but it was never made. However, in 1999, Walt's nephew Roy Disney resurrected the project and it got made (directed by Dominique Monféry). It was premiered in 2003 and I discovered it on the "Fantasia 2000" blu-ray. It is simply one of the most beautiful and visually creative animated films I have ever seen and I think more people should see it.

For me, discovering this film for the first time was like finding an extra page in the Bible where Jesus does body-shots off of Buddha. It's just so amazing that such a film exists.

Dali's reasoning for the baseball metaphor for life was pretty sound. He said something like: "what's more beautiful than a group of men standing around staring at the sky?"
