It took me an hour, but I have finally proven that this is a hoax.
To start, both Al1 and Fortress are the same person. If you go to Al1's website http://al1ninegrandquest.angelfire.com/, you will find a series of pictures of him burying the "treasure". Two things to look at: The man's thumb in the second picture (you can zoom) and the shovel in the final picture.
If you go to a remake of Fortress' original youtube page, as the original one has been deleted, you can find Fortress' original videos. http://www.youtube.com/user/xxxxFORTRESSxxxx
It is here that, if you watch the fifth video where he is on the train with a shovel, you will see the white spots on the shovel from Al1's website and the one on the train are, in fact, located in precisely the same areas, and the shovel is of the same make.
If you go to the second video, when Fortress is working on opening the box, you can spot his thumb around 2:39. Note: Fortress uses his left hand to work the camera, and switches hands to grab the paper with his left hand. He is left handed. Al1 also uses his left hand to put the money in the bag (while holding the camera in his right hand.) Also, their thumbs are very similar (they bow out the same, the nails are cut short, wide thumb, no hair on the knuckles).
Also, what are the chances of a boy, not spam, stumbling across such a little-known website and actually deciding to pursue it?
So, they are, in fact, the same person.
But, what of the murder that an article cited? Surely it has credentials? Well, after about twenty minutes of searching (starting with the url you can spot near the end of "The Internet Story" video above, then googling key words of the murder, and finally searching for the names of hte places mentioned), I have discovered that not only does the article not exist, but neither does a place called "Felynamynydd."
And so, my friends, the result is this: It is but a cleverly laid out story and fancy-work. A hoax.

It's odd that the maker of this movie didn't realize that Al1 is not a name... Al1 = Alone... The letter said that the man said that he had been alone for so long... Just something i noticed...
am i the only one who wants to create an elaborate treasure hunt on the internet that brings out the worst in humans just so they can find out there is no treasure and all their greed and evil is met with the consequence of me killing them?
