>Love anime, watch the **** out of it
>Never really talk about it outside of internet
>Enjoy the occasional cosplay or convention
>accused of being a autistic weeaboo
>Watch same people go to comic con and cosplay as their favorite superheros/video game characters
>mfw

Quite frankly I'm tired of this ******** .
We all have things we love and get really excited over.

To generalize is to be a ignorant, to be a true fan of anything, and then turn around and insult other fans is being a hypocrite.

"Anime fans"

You're referring to overly obsessed autistic idiots.

Not fans

Just to be clear, liking anime =/= being a weeaboo.
You're not a weeaboo until you dedicate your entire life to anime and Japanese culture, so much so that you feel that Japan and its culture is better than everywhere/everything else. There's a reason that the term was originally "Wapanese" (wannabe Japanese).

See the accompanied chart.

Well for me that's the distinction between an anime fan and a weeaboo. I have a bro who watches anime pretty hardcore, but he doesn't act all obsessed and obnoxious about it. Great guy, anime fan and doesn't annoy anyone with it. Those who are obsessed and obnoxious are weeaboo's which to me equals scum.

You're basically saying, I love anime but I hate weeaboo's, which is perfectly normal.

Inb4 "I'm an otaku, not a weeaboo"
You might be right about being an 'otaku' but you have to be a complete ******* weeaboo to call yourself an otaku...

There's nothing you can do to stop yourself from being associated with them.
In fact, if any of you are willing to read before you just hit the red thumb, I really gotta go on a rant here.
There's something that really pisses me off about anime fans. It's not all of them, and I'm not accusing you of anything, Mr. applecopy, but quite a hefty majority of anime fans I've met that weren't the 'creepy stereotype' were actually much worse than said stereotype. I'm sure you've all heard something along the lines of 'I'm an Otaku, you're accusing me of being a weeaboo' from some anime purists. News flash for ya, they're the same ******* thing. People who say this try to justify their obsession, yes, obsession for anime like they're the cultured scholars of a lost art. It's one thing to try not to associate themselves with the less appealing aspects of a fandom, but it's a whole other ******* ballpark to think you're exempt from criticism, doing a 'good thing' by being in one. You don't see other fans do this. Bronies don't like being stereotyped as the fedora's 'gentlemen' they're seen as, but they don't try to make themselves out to be 'elitist connoisseurs of quality entertainment'. Videogame players and Dnd players don't like being characterized as basement dwelling manchildren, but they don't try to shun those that fit that mold by presenting themselves as superior to them in anyway. There are creepy people in the world, and sometimes they will like the same things you like. They will take this to the extreme, because they would do that regardless of what they liked, and they will be noticed, and become the stereotype. There's nothing that can be done about it. My advice? Take a bit of solace in that you found common ground with someone who you would otherwise never see as an equal, and surround yourself with people smart enough to recognize that the stereotype does not mean majority. Get off you ******* high horse, and deal with it.

I go to cons pretty frequently and I have to agree that some of the super-hardcore fans weird me out, but then again the same could be said about any fanbase. Hell hardcore whovians and trekkies wierd me out too, but whatever floats their boat man.

Also MFW I take a wrong turn at a convention.

Well, I actively try to creep people out. Why do you think I keep posting pics from Franken Fran? I more or less do it in the hopes that someone asks what the character is and I link them to the mango. The reactions to chapter 2 are always priceless.

Turn that frown upside-down!

I need new images of this bear smiling. There's also that one guy who has replied to me a few times with a Reddit version of the bear with the caption "KILL ALL HUMANS."
