If you're for equality, you'd call yourself an 'egalitarian' rather than a 'feminist' who are rather biased, one-sided where they place all the focus on one gender whilst demonising the other.

By taking a movement that was essentially good from the start and polluting it by not responding to any people who disagreed they have taken any possible good to be gained from feminism and destroyed it by turning it into a joke.

The problem with feminism is that it has overstayed it's welcome. The first wave of feminism was absolutely great because these feminists actually had a proper cause, modern feminists are nothing more than a useless shadow of that movement because women have in most cases gotten equality in the west and even to the point where they actually have some privileges over men.

That's not to say that feminism isn't completely useless, in third world countries women are being horribly opressed, those are the people that need feminism, but when it comes to western countries the movement has just become an absolute embarrassment.

The thing about feminism (and every moral cause) is that it's a crusade, and crusades don't have any end-game. When fighting for something moral no one actually plans what to do in the event of victory or defeat, they just plan to fight. Once any amount of success is achieved the goal, rather then coming closer, is broadened to marginalizes that success and make the fight seem as dire as it ever was.
As a side note, feminism is still something that places like like the Middle East and Africa definitely need. The reason why so many feminists in the west won't take their message to those places is because the opponents they would find there are scary and will actually, for real, fight them back.

Firstly, this is complete utter ******** . Secondly, you don't just deserverespect, it's earned. Lastly, women are the main perpetrators whether it's bodyshaming or slutshaming due to passive-aggressive competition between females in society. Not every god damn thing is a man's fault.

There are still bits of feminism that still go with the original concept of equal rights, but like everything else- We get assholes with a superiority complex and they are loud as **** .

What do you do with a movement when it reached all its goals? You end it. Or you make up new goals. Self purpose driven neurotic *********** is what I call them.

Feminists are sexist. so is patriarchy. equalists is the term people are looking for when they want equal rights. The other two put that certain gender first before any other.

>mfw the comments are about how feminism was once / still is about equality
I have heard this ******** too much so let me give some of the SRS *********** a little history lesson.

Feminism was never about equality, it was actually a communist ideal to put women to work and raise the economy. What people are referring to these days as "classical feminists" or "true feminists" never called themselves feminists, they called themselves womens rights activists, but that movement died in the 60's because by then women had equal opportunities. Somewhere in the 70's the CIA funded feminist magazines and actually sent a former operative(Gloria Steinem) to be a feminist Icon and ultimately try to turn the women's rights activism to feminism. Feminism is a communist conspiracy to introduce females to the working class and is probably a core part of the CIA misinformation operation.

You guys have a very bad idea of what feminism is, just because a few feminazis ruin it for the ones actually working on equal rights.

I tend not to have any opinion on feminism nowadays; if you're not a woman then you're wrong, completely wrong and your words will be turned against you in a way you could not predict...

I read about a guy who said women should take precautions when going out at night (e.g. shoes and dresses you can move in) just so that they can avoid danger (rape) The guy got massive amounts of hate for what he said despite the fact it makes sense, they just assumed he meant that it was the victim's fault and not the rapists.

OP here. As you can see from my post and general history, I'm very anti-feminist and despise their movement with all my burning rage but in regards to rape victim blaming, I can sympathise with them there. What you said is technically true there about how clothing is restrictive to a woman's movement but women falling victim to rape is not based entirely on clothing. Regardless of attire or level of attractiveness, some cases are inevitable since rape is mainly about power.

The problem is that victims are often made to feel like sluts and although the guy had his noble intentions, the women are naturally going to be defensive and feel touchy on that subject (lol pun). It's true, women should take precaution that doesn't leave them in a vulnerable state whatsoever but no victim should ever be blamed nor made to feel like a 'slut'.

The way I see it feminism has largely become unbalanced in what it is fighting for versus what it has achieved.
The movement originally was an offshoot of the civil rights movement determined to give women the same rights that everyone else had and for the most part IT SUCCEEDED. Women can vote now and there are no legal barriers to equal pay, if you don't get payed as much its most likely for a reason other than what's between your legs.
As an example to show how its become unbalanced I will use official positions in government. There are plenty of women senators and a few in the house as well I believe. There are women serving on the Supreme Court as well. The one position that women have not claimed yet is the title of president, but there are still no legal barriers to a women holding that position. There has only been one woman to run for president and she had a fair chance, she didn't get elected because a good portion of the voting base didn't agree with/ like her. That isn't something that can be legislated either.
Women have equal rights in this country. It is actually more accurate to say that they have had. At this point they are fighting to get a few more benefits as well as an advantage over men.

some feminists are dogmatic assholes, therefore there is nothing at all wrong about gender disparities and everything is absolutely ok and rape doesn't happen. Really people?
