Sirens used their songs to hypnotize sailors and make them sail into rocks and the cliffs located on islands along the coast of Greece. Mermaids attracted sailors with their looks and then ate them. LEARN YOUR ****

you mean all their victims only died because they couldn't park a boat?

ever DIED parking while looking at a hot girl? if one of them even had the presence of mind to swim to shore, a lot of sex could have been had.

Pretty sure these sirens chose areas with rough waters and sharp rocks. So even if they could swim, you'd most likely end up smashed against the rocks

Just don't go on a boat. Wear sound proof headphones if you do. That's how a sailor got past. Had his men cover their ears with wax and something else to stop them from hearing, and to have them tie him up and to not listen to his orders during the entire time they were within siren territory

i believe you are talking about Odysseus, where he had his sailors put beeswax in their ears and strap him to the mast with his ears unclogged. He was curious what the siren song sounded like, you know...without the whole...dying part

depending on which lore you use

The one for Siren is that of a subspecies of harpy instead of mermaid

that mermaid would be glorified if she were real, but a male of the same species would be hated as a rapist

In that lore, there are no male monsters

Also, as it turn out, sirens are indeed similar to harpies in mythology. I must have been thinking of something else

I have most of them here

first: Lure, not allure
second: They're thinking of sirens. Sirens sing so beautifully, sailors will go overboard to follow the song, and the captain will steer the ship directly to the sirens, often into a rock face.
A mermaid may or may not kill you on purpose, depending on who tells the story. They're seemingly harmless, and people will approach for a variety of reasons. Either way, when you're within arm's reach, they'll reach for your face, then pull you underwater and drown you.
