Warning:

Stupid youngin's thinking that cops are lazy, yet always cause brutality in any situation ahead.

Possibly because they're 13-17 year old's whose only encounter with a police officer is when they got caught smoking weed in the back of a public school and now they're angry at all police officers because 'wede shud be legal'

inb4 those teenangers who want to tell their magnificent story of how they were in a 'real' scenario with a police officer 'abusing his powers'

Cops are not trained well enough. Many cops have anger issues and poor negotiator skills. Quick to draw guns and batons, but slow to defuse the situation through words.

TLR it's far easier to beat or kill someone than to talk to them.

Policemen are trained to talk to people before guns, and in extreme situations, SWAT even has people trained ONLY to talk to people, called Negotiators.

If what you are saying was true, police officers would tranquilize someone committing suicide and catching them in a net instead of talking to them.

It definitely varies from department to department. There are some great cops and some awful ones, but the job does tends to attract assholes a lot of the time, and a good percentage of cops don't play well with others. That said, I hope you have a great experience with whatever department you end up with and get to work with a bunch of great officers.

Neither, plus it's called STA-21. It's an acronym which means... Seaman To Admiral.

STA-21 requires you to still be Active Duty and only pays you to finish your Bachelor's.

No, I'm using my Post 9/11 to get my Bachelor's, then they're commissioning me to finish my Doctorate. Then I'll be a psychotherapist working for the wettest company in the world.

Stay in for at least 3 years. I've been surviving off my Post 9/11 G.I. Bill for 3 whole years. No matter how you hack it, it's pretty sweet to get paid to go to school.

In the meantime, also remember that the areas that Post 9/11 pays the highest is San Francisco California, New York New York, and Honolulu Hawaii. Start looking for real estate in those areas and you oughtta be just fine. Remember that at least for a while after you leave the military you'll have unemployment on top of that, so you'll be rolling in cash for a bit.

Grand total, there is no job that actually pays more in a compensation package outside of the military unless you become a one percenter- a really ******* good lawyer, plastic surgeon, actor, real estate tycoon, create a ridiculous business, be a vegas stripper, etc.

So don't leave the military; go on sabbatical for 3 years. You'll change your mind and be glad you did. Move laterally: go from MA to Seabee, Seabee to IT, IT to Religious Program Specialist, etc.

Then move upwards. Finish your Bachelor's either at work or through STA-21. Go fly planes, then move laterally again, then move upwards with your doctorate and become a JAG lawyer, a Podiatrist for the military, etc. etc.

It's a fantastic organization, so I'll give you the same advice Billy Madison gave that little kid about middle school:

Billy Madison - Cherish It, Stay As Long As You Can!

Seems like good advice. If difficult. I don't know if it's fleet wide, or just my command. But trying to get the ball rolling on anything is damned near impossible. Can't begin to count how many times I've tried getting my TA set up for it to all to fall to pieces.

Yep. You pay for everything. Just like there's not been a man on Earth who hasn't paid for sex, there hasn't been anything free ever.

You always gotta jump through hoops, but out here in the civilian sector I have

> a mom with 3 jobs who never gets to see her kids
> a stepdad with 2 jobs to help out my mom
> a friend who has turned to prostitution to pay her bills
> a friend with an Associate's Degree from a specialized institute who sells drugs AND has a full time job outside his educational career field to keep the lights on in his house
> a friend with an Associate's from a specialized institute making 10 bucks an hour and has a second job and a roommate
> a friend getting his Bachelor's in the IT industry just to work on computers, in the meantime going through foreclosure because he can't pay his bills

And 2 friends trying to get back in the military not including myself, as well as a guy on FunnyJunk here with us.

I guarantee the tiny amount of ******** you deal with pales in comparison to blowing a dude to pay your electric bill or getting stabbed over a drug deal so you can grab lunch. These are not gangsters and they don't live in Detroit. We're miles outside of St. Louis and we're all college graduates.

What the **** happened to this world? Well, stay in your world and never ever ******* leave. Much love man, and thank you for your service.

I'm going to try and get my bachelors before I get out, even if I have to reenlist. Keep going after that with the Post 9/11 and Montgomery. Also trying to get as many Civilian Law Enforcement qualifications as I ca so I have a fall back on the outside. But yeah, thanks for the advice man. And thank you for your service, good luck.

If you are referring to the homeless guy what was camping in the hills, he resisted arrest. He did not surrender. The part in the video they blurred was him pulling a knife out. If you ever get the chance, find the uncensored version. It is amazing how far these anti cop groups go. Without the blur, he pulls out a knife and takes a step forward. He was also being belligerent throughout the whole encounter and the people who reported him said he was dangerous. That is why I rarely believe that all these "reports of police burtality" are ever completely accurate.
