ITT: Be my Civ V advisers.
Ok so started a new campaign as Bismark of Germany. Map settings are Huge, Earth, 18 city states, max players, and all other settings are standard. I spawned in south eastern China and have thus-far expanded into north eastern china, western china, and I've set up colonies in Australia. Bringing my city count to 6. The Mongols have taken controls of ALL of India except for the border between China and India, which is held by a militaristic city state. The Mongols want my land and are growing far faster than I am (They have about 8 cities that I can see). I've tried two fucking preemptive strikes on the Mongol empire and both of them have fallen flat on their ass. The Mongols aren't the problem here, but it's the terrain itself. ALL China and India is nothing but Jungle and hills, this means my troops can only move one space per turn. This makes fighting anything on the mainland nearly impossible since the Mongols out-maneuver me easily with their mounted troops and barbarians seemingly aren't effected by jungle and hills. The majority of my troops are in indo-china clearing barbarian camps from the islands while I have a small security force set up to defend my mainland territories (2 catapults, 1 horsemen, 1 longwordsmen.).
I come to you, my advisers of FunnyJunk games board, to ask you "What the hell do I do now?". Should I try another attack on the mongols to slow their progress and nab some resources or should I focus on expanding throughout Australia and the philippines?
^^Here's an awesome map, just because I've had it sitting in my folder and collecting cyber dust.

That was actually my exact plan when I went to Australia, that and looking for Iron/more luxury resources for trade. Now I have plenty to trade but all the other empires except for China and Gandhi have gone completely bankrupt or close to it. America 0 gold, -15 gold per turn. Ottomans 0 gold -7 gold per turn. Mongolians 324 gold, -3 per turn. Arabians 100 gold, -5 gold per turn.
The only way I make money now is by supplying Gandhi iron for his wars with the Ottomans and expanse into south-Africa.

There's a mountain range that keeps them from really expanding into my turf but it also makes invasion even harder. It takes my units 2-3 turns just to get into position for an assault but the Mongols land is almost all plains and forest, which means they can quickly move their entire military from one end of their empire to another, which is why the last two attacks failed.
I'm in the Medieval age now lol. My best long range weapons are big rocks hurled by wooden constructs. I wont have Artillery for a while, but when I do I'll initiate the "Sweeping arm" tactic I used in my first playthrough.I make a huge line of military units and just sweep them across the entire continent, annexing and burning everything I come across.
