Just tried the ARMA II demo... Wat is dis!? I don't even know what to say. I didn't even get to shoot anyone because I either I didn't even see the enemy and the AI took care of them or I got one hit from god-knows-where. Is the actual game this weird or am I just horrible at it?

I take it Day Z is a lot different?

yeah ARMA is supposed to be a very realistic military shooter, so it operates a hell of a lot differently then your average FPS. As for the difference between DayZ and ARMA in terms of weapon damage and stuff its about the same I think. But in DayZ there is more of an RPG element to it.

Oh, cool. I just can't figure ARMA II out. You just spend a whole lot of time waiting or crawling around it seems. Either that or you die. Or am I playing it wrong?

ah, kinda of yeah. Like I said earlier its a realistic Military Shooter, so you can't just go balls to the wall crazy and open fire over everyone and expect to come out smelling like roses. So you are playing it right, you've got to listen to the NCP's if you aren't the team lead on that particular mission, that is if you are playing single player. As for MP I have no idea I haven't touched the MP except for DayZ. Also the RPG element in DayZ tends to be the building up of your supplies and home base area, not actual stat base stuff.

Yeah, watched some LPs. Seemed very "roleplay..y..ish.." like.. Real roleplaying.

But the ArmA demo didn't really get me hooked, so I'm kinda confused whether I should just buy the game for DayZ or not.

Seen a lot of people on here go gaga for DayZ and I've got to say it wasn't worth the money I spent on it, but then again its still in beta so it can and most likely will get better. The DayZ mod is fairly well done and if you want what will most likely be the definitive zombie experience. Which I believe this game to do since it does kinda of make you feel hopeless, especially in the beginning when you first start. Even after you get your first weapons and zombies are less of a threat, it can still hold an interest because you can shift from PvE to PVP. If you do decide to get it a few pieces of advice.

1. Play the game windowed and have a map of the area open in the background, it helps a great deal when trying to figure out where you are in the beginning and where good loot spots are.

2. If you are playing on a populated server for the first time, avoid big cities until you are more versed in the game or well equipped to deal with other survivors because most people in a city will just open up on you without hesitation.

3. Be prepared to crouch a lot if you do get the game, zombies tend to have crazy line of sight for some odd reason.

Just realized I contradicted myself there. The game is okay, its in beta so it still has a lot of work to go into it but I do believe it will be the best zombie game out there.
