Fallout.
I know Fallout 4 probably won't be in our consoles until late 2013, but I'm just wondering;
How are they going to top Fallout 3?
I mean, New Vegas didn't manage to do that (to most peoples opinions) and NV also throws a few things out as already done.
So, Games thread, what do you think will happen in Fallout 4, and what will make it the great game that it will undoubtedly be?

Firstly, they'll need a new engine. Then they need a good location, somewhere we haven't been before. It's hard to come up with a specific location as I live in the UK and every Fallout game takes place in America, but I think it'd be good for maybe as an expansion ot include another country, just to see how the rest of the world was affected.
Story will be key here, as it'll have to top not only Fallout 3, but also the incredibly strong DLC for New Vegas. It'd be nice if they included a new element to the game, but what that would be I don't know as I'm not a game developer. Maybe something like picking up pipes from the ground as melee weapons when everything else fails?
Overall if it's ANYTHING like 3 and NV then I'll be getting it, one of the few franchises I'll blindly buy regardless.

the couldnt use another country, because america was the only one with vault programs set up by the government, no one would have surived in another country.the vaults where specificaly set up as a trick not to preserve humanity, but to test and research human activity in different situations. didnt you notice that? in vault 101 they never left. in vault 106 the halls where lined with hallucinogens to make the vault dwellers crazy. in vault 92 there where hidden patterns in the broadcasts that played night and day that eventualy drove the all to kill eachother. in vault 11 with every year that past they had to kill one of their fellow vault dwellers. in vault 21 every single argument was solved by gambling. vault 34 purposely had a reacter meltdown set to happen to see what internal radiation could do to the vault dwellers overtime. vault 87 was meant to be a place where they could test on humans with the FEV virus, (thats where the super mutants orginated)
so going to a different country like britan would be entirely going against the story line of the game

yes they did. it specificaly tells it in the new vegas start "those who survived did so in massive underground vaults". if there was another source from where they came from, it would have said it somewhere, and it didnt. i dont know where else you could survive a nuclear blast, have someone there to repopulate, AND be completely healthy and radiation free whilst in the process. so no, they did all come from the vaults, wiki that shit bro

Ok you clearly haven't read up on your Fallout lore. Let's tackle this logically:
1) Fallout 3 has megaton, Rivet City, the Republic of Dave, and several other places where humans have settled. Did EVERY single human in the game REALLY come from a vault, especially considering that they were all social control experiements and most of them ended up killing the inhabitants?
2) Ghouls. Yeah, I doubt the ghouls all spawned from vaults, considering that several specifically mention being there when the bombs fell and roaming the land soon after. Clearly THEY were in vaults.
3) It's common lore that people DID survive the apocalypse despite not being in vaults, albeit few and far between. That's why settlements are so small in Fallout 3, because they're in the capital wasteland (the part most hit) and few survived outside vaults.
4) Fuck you I'm Liberty Prime.
Seriously, I've played every single Fallout game, don't tell me I know nothing about the lore.

1) no i dont think everyone came from the vaults, because their elders came from the vaults, it even says that most emerged from the vaults in 2142, when the radiation mostly cleared. meaning that they repopulated the earth, sure there arent that many on earth, but in highly populated areas like the mojave and the capital wasteland, there are plenty of humans, OH and look! thats where all the vaults are! seriously dude, in over 150 years i highly doubt anyone was still an original vault dweller.
2) the ghouls where EXPOSED TO THE RADIATION WHEN THE BLASTS HAPPENED. ghoulification - a freak chance when you are exposed to an ungodly amount of radiation, that you will become a zombie like, flesh torn ghoul. which meant being in a vault ISNT necessary to become a ghoul.
3) common lore, any clarification on that? any official theorys that have been proved with evidence? no.
4) haha so fahny joke
im not telling you you know nothing, im telling you my theory on the subject.

Seriously, there are (and this is confirmed) 200 vaults spread over the ENTIRETY OF AMERICA. Now if we assume that all were vault experiments, with a success rate of at least 50% (though I think the actual figure was around 75%) that leaves only 100 vaults with living human inhabitants.
100 vautls. To repopulate all of America. Also it's confirmed that some people survived outside of vaults (Little Lamplight for one), by living in caves, sewers and subways. While a lot turned into ghouls or died, some survived. I just can't accept the fact that EVERY person came from a vault, it just doesn't compute in my brain.
You seem to have missed my sarcasm regarding ghouls. They obviously weren't in vaults (other than that radiation-fucked mess in NV).
Point Lookout's people had no vaults, yet they still go around (albeit being inbred monsters but still).
(This is why I love Fallout, you can discuss fucking everything)
