Hey sup guys. I'm going to be getting a new computer soon. But I've seeing some new types of PC called "All in one PCs" (I'm not too sure on the name but thats all I can find). So wondering what are the differences between these PCs and a standard PC.
<--- This is the type that I'm talking about.

if you're looking for a good All-in-One you might as well go with the new iMac

I'm not sure to go with an All in one or a standard.

meh, i'd go all in one if you dont like games but they're practical. i've owned a couple, and its nice to only have to unplug it and plug it in somewhere else. but thats it.

also, if you know what you're doing, you could swap out the innards of the all in one computer to put in a new Haswell chip and make that computer run games as good as a an HD 5750 could.

I'm favourating this for later use just in case. I would post a relevant pic also (I'm sure I have one) but seeing as I've got a shit ton loads for reaction pic. and I'm feeling kinda lazy today I'm not going to. Thanks anyway bro.

show me a link when you're not too busy, i want to give you an opinion.
#559515 to #559508 - unsaif (07/10/2013) [-]
It will take you to an Australian site. By the way I was told by one of the employees that a newer model will be coming out. She didn't say what exactly will the components inside it will be but she kept on repeating "Quad core i7". It was good repetition but really annoying.
#559517 to #559515 - unsaif (07/10/2013) [-]
Sorry forgot the link. It's going to be a better model of this (this is will be used as a template or something).
You need to login to view this link

well, it's pretty, but it's quite expensive. you oughtta put windows 7 on it, and just to let you know, touchscreen computers are basically useless, I have one, and there isnt a single fingerprint on it.

like I said earlier, apple iMacs are about $2000, with actual graphics cards in them, so you can play any game you want, if you install windows, which is easy.
#559530 to #559528 - unsaif (07/10/2013) [-]
Cool thanks bro.

it's a standard pc, if you're looking to do some gaming or anything heavy like video editing or photoshop, you're shit outta luck

I'm not to good with computers, so I'm probably gonna sound pretty stupid, but I've heard that there is a new model going to be released soon with a quad core i7 processor. Would that be any good. I'm mainly going to use it for my Uni assignments and all that shit, but I am going to be playing games on it. At the moment I'm using a really shitty laptop that can't even a simple game without crashing. It keeps on showing that the game and other programs are not responding. I think it might be because there's too much load on the processor/RAM. So for writing a mini essay.

well yeah if you're using it for college you should be fine

They are

Which one would you say is better performance wise?

For what?
#559487 to #559479 - unsaif (07/10/2013) [-]
I'm mainly going to be using it for my Uni assigments, but I will be playing games quite often.
User avatar #559493 to #559487 - averagewhitekid (07/10/2013) [-]
Well im going to assume you are just talking about regular Uni stuff, and not engineering or programming or something
But basically, if you are going to build get:
A Quad core CPU
8 GB (2x4) 1600 ghz DDR3 RAM
A good motherboard
a good 600 Watt power supply
a good 1 TB Hard drive
and then a case with good airflow
For GPU I personally recommend a Radeon 7950, Radeon 7870, or a GTX 760 if you like Nvidea stuff more
#559502 to #559493 - unsaif (07/10/2013) [-]
Sorry mate but you got the assumptions wrong. I'm doing Civil/Infrastructural engineering, it requires me to extensively use AUTOCAD and what not. I'n the semester that I'm going to start we'll be doing surveying, so maybe there might be another software I'll have to get (I'm am quite frankly not looking forward to it).
User avatar #559503 to #559502 - averagewhitekid (07/10/2013) [-]

Well shit, thanks for telling me

Get a AMD 8350 4.0 Ghz eight core CPU instead
and an AMD compatible motherboard
and then 16GB of 1600ghz(or faster) RAM

Everything else is fine, but with the GPU point more towards the 7950 or the GTX 760

If you don't mind me asking how excatly are people able to judge which components are better than the other. If you have a link that explains it, that would also be alright.
User avatar #559531 to #559521 - averagewhitekid (07/10/2013) [-]
Just lots of looking at computer parts and taking your time reading up on what parts do and what makes them better.
And I am the son of a computer hardware and software designer, so that helps

Must have been an interesting childhood (no sarcasm intended). The problem with me is that I can get distracted fairly easily. 4 years back I started to learn HTML and finished the basics, all I had to do was to get into the details. Needless to say I have not finished it yet.
User avatar #559540 to #559535 - averagewhitekid (07/10/2013) [-]
Well i got shit tons of computer stuff all over my house, but other than that its normal.
And I feel you with the programming. I just never get the motivation to ever go far in a language ( or even start it in some cases)
#559552 to #559540 - unsaif (07/10/2013) [-]
Funny thing is that the reason why I started was because of the website that tell you to do survey to continue to browse them. It really peeved me off, so I got a brilliant idea of bypassing that step so I could look at the content. Till this day I've got bookmarks of some of them.

From display to what's inside.
Those are basically laptops that you can't carry around.
#559459 to #559457 - unsaif (07/10/2013) [-]
I see, so in your opinion a standard PC would be better than that?
