So guys, I have a good old RPG for I'd recommend to you all. It's a CRPG made by New World Computing called Might and Magic 6: The Mandate of Heaven. Do not fear, you don't need to play the last 5 to know what's going on. It helps with some terms, but you can figure those turns out easily.

The reason why this game is great is because of its mechanics and options. You can fight in turn-base or real time. You can choose a party of 4 characters that no matter what skills they can learn, they can become the highest rank in them (for instance, an archer can be just as good at blade as a knight would be). The only real difference between the classes is what they can learn.

The story has multiple twists to it aswell. What makes the Might and Magic series so cool is that, despite it being a fantasy games, there are Sci-fi elements and stories to it too. I don't want to create a major spoiler here, but further into the game, you get laser weapons, and that's just great.

The only problem? The graphics are absolute crap. It looks like Elder Scrolls 2: Daggerfall, but much worse. You'll get used to them, but they're awful.

I wouldn't count this as a fault, but the story is very linear too. Think more akin to later Elder Scrolls games than games like Mass Effect.

Point is, torrent this game. It's so fucking old that it's not sold in stores anymore. Ubisoft also doesn't give a shit about Might and Magic anymore, anyway. They only care about the spin off, Heroes of Might and Magic. If you have technical problems, google 'em.

I hope I didn't write this essay for nothing.

It's the definition of a Western RPG before it was classified as such. Western RPGS were primarily on the PC until about 2000.
