How much memory do you guys think is enough for pc gaming, 500gb, 1tb or 2tb?
pic unrelated

Personally, i'd go with having 1TB, Backing Storage is fairly cheap so the extra room is worth it. You're not particularly likely to fill it either.

depends if ur a movie person too, then you would like to have around 1/2 TB
User avatar #120598 to #120588 - sickpup **User deleted account** (08/20/2012) [-]
Nah i'm not really a movie/recording guy, its for gaming only
User avatar #120603 to #120598 - sjakk ONLINE (08/20/2012) [-]
aight then ur good with 500, cus i have like 600 in only films and around 80gb in music and rest games but yeah if ur not really that kinda person you are good to go.

Expect each game to be 10 - 15GB. A 500GB should be fine, but $30 more for double the space is worth it.

Alright, thanks

NP. I used to game on a 160GB HDD, you'll be fine.

1 TB. I myself have a little under 1 T on a PC used for both gaming and other stuff and I'm at 500G.

500gb-1tb should be enough depending on your budget ofc, myself i'm a jew and I only have 200gb.

100GB easily covers an mmo, singleplayer, and multiplayer game. but i have a full TB, and am thinking about getting a 3TB external....for..games..
yeah....games....
User avatar #120472 to #120468 - kingnappa (08/20/2012) [-]
I have 2 1tb hard drives and I already have only 15 gigabytes of space free. But that's just me. 1tb should be enough.

Would 4gb of ram be enough?

Alright, thanks for the info

User avatar #120471 to #120468 - fivewordminimum ONLINE (08/20/2012) [-]
IF you're talking about ram I would go either 8 gb or 16 gb depending on your budget.
User avatar #120474 to #120471 - notquitefourchan **User deleted account** (08/20/2012) [-]
yeah, he wants 2TB ram, so he doesn't need to upgrade for 30 years
User avatar #120476 to #120474 - fivewordminimum ONLINE (08/20/2012) [-]
Hmm.. I wonder if in Asia there is someone working on 2 TB ram..
User avatar #120517 to #120476 - nitrojoe (08/20/2012) [-]
I have seen servers with 256GB so I doubt we are too far off from TBs of ram.
#120562 to #120517 - bighairybacon ONLINE (08/20/2012) [-]
I believe that 64-Bit OS's only support 256GB. We would need 128-Bit first.
User avatar #120470 to #120468 - adzo (08/20/2012) [-]
4GB is enough memory. Storage on the other hand is completely different. 500 GB should be enough, if you have anywhere up to 100-150 games, unless you do a lot of recording, then you might consider getting a couple of Terabytes.
User avatar #120494 to #120470 - sickpup **User deleted account** (08/20/2012) [-]
So 500gb is enough? What about RAM? Is 4gb enough?
User avatar #120526 to #120494 - adzo (08/20/2012) [-]
Yep. Or you could get 8GB and not need to upgrade for a while.
User avatar #120529 to #120526 - sickpup **User deleted account** (08/20/2012) [-]
I mean 4gb
User avatar #120528 to #120526 - sickpup **User deleted account** (08/20/2012) [-]
Alright, thanks
How long would you think 8gb would last?
User avatar #120554 to #120528 - adzo (08/20/2012) [-]
A few years maybe
#120564 to #120554 - bighairybacon ONLINE (08/20/2012) [-]
4GB is more than enough, but 8GB is a good overkill. I have 8GB, I never see it go over 40 or so. In a few years that will change.
User avatar #120566 to #120564 - adzo (08/20/2012) [-]
He meant how long would 4GB last, so we're noth right
User avatar #122838 to #120566 - noth (08/22/2012) [-]
You called?
#120569 to #120566 - bighairybacon ONLINE (08/20/2012) [-]
4GB should last at least 3 years. Games don't really even use 2GB yet.
