They could have done it earlier, but the original screenwriter, director and original creater of the Invinsibles halted the idea, since they felt it was their 'child' of sorts, and only wanted to make a new moive, when there was a 'strong' enough screenplay.

tl:dr: the creators of the movie wanted to wait, untill they found the perfect story for part 2.

Disney higher ups are basically forcing them to do sequels now. they want a new film one year, then a sequel next year, new film after that etc,

also, 'cod' isn't bad because it doesn't entirely rewrite and redo the game engine on each release. it's a fun arcade shooter, and yes it's overhyped, but that doesn't mean it's a bad game. don't shit on an entire franchise or company because the internet says popularity is bad, and there's plenty of other, more valid reasons to shit on the latter.

>Battlefield 3
>Battlefield 4
>Battlefield Hardline

They're rehashed and mediocre. All of them are buggy messes, the fact that they still don't have squad join running and they're making a new game is disgusting.
#112 - zukabazuka (09/01/2014) [-]
So 3 games? Lets bring up Activision little money scheme
Modern Warfare 2 and 3
Black ops 1 and 2
Ghost 1 and 2

That is just the CoD series, now for some other titles
Guitar Hero, Guitar Hero II, Guitar Hero Encore: Rocks the 80's, Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock, Guitar Hero: Aerosmith, Guitar Hero on Tour (DS), Guitar Hero on Tour: Decades (DS), Guitar Hero World Tour, Guitar Hero: Metallica, Guitar Hero: Smash Hits, Guitar Hero on Tour: Modern Hits (DS), Guitar Hero 5
Guitar Hero: Van Halen,Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock
(2006–2011) 14 titles.
Then
Skylanders Series, 8 titles in 5 years. Have bunch of figures if you want extra character in the game, goes from 10-40€ for those character depending on their size. EA is evil, super evil. All that while Activision keeps pumping out copies of the games and bring in far more money than people believe. So sorry for not seeing EA as money grubbing people when Activision is so much better at it. After all, they are just in for money and not the fun.

User avatar #104 - garymotherfingoak (09/01/2014) [-]
they update the engine each time, you can't expect them to put a year or more worth of work making an entirely new engine, because then it won't feel like a *name of franchise* game anymore, it's a waste of time and money, and will confuse or piss off a lot of fans. I do agree that Hardline is a bit of a money grab, since the engine modifications won't be done until several months from now, and even then it'll be too minor of an upgrade for i to be practical, not to mention it easily could have been a DLC expansion for BF4.

so not being able to normally join a squad de-validates every positive aspect of the game?
User avatar #108 - jukuku (09/01/2014) [-]
Okay how about the barely functioning servers at launch? Constant crashing at launch and occasional crashing now, super shit optimization, poorly developed weapons with little variety in their play, buggy map textures and glitches that allow players to get into surfaces and under the map, no squad join feature, server latency issues, pre-planned DLC, neglecting the game to develop a new installment before the last DLC segment has even been released, the non-scripted destruction is terrible.

#110 - garymotherfingoak (09/01/2014) [-]
did you rehearse that speech before you gave it?

GTA V had the same issue with joining and crashing, but everyone loves it.
every game has 'occasional' crashes
only during the beta
>opinion
I haven't encountered anything like that so far
ill give you that one
If that were the case, I wouldn't have a ping below 40 on the majority of servers i go on.
greedy EA decision, doesn't impact the quality of the game.
That's what multiple dev teams are for in order to satisfy EA revenue (I'm only defending the game and Frostbite devs here, fuck EA)
and what would make it 'terrible', that each individual explosion isn't a hand-crafted specific to a certain velocity, mass, direction and type of material it impacts, making an ultra specific hole in the wall to suit your standards?
User avatar #111 - jukuku (09/01/2014) [-]
"greedy EA decision, doesn't impact the quality of the game"

That' the end of this exchange.
#113 - garymotherfingoak (09/01/2014) [-]
Does making the devs create extra maps affect the engine?
Does it effect core gameplay?
Does it affect vehicles?
Does it affect game modes?
Does it affect objectives?
Does it nerf your ability to play the game?
User avatar #114 - jukuku (09/01/2014) [-]
How the fuck does less development time, a greedy decision by EA, not impact the quality?
#115 - garymotherfingoak (09/01/2014) [-]
>implying the entirety of Frostbite works on 1 element of the game, all at once, one at a time
It has the potential to affect game quality, and probably caused bugs in the game (none of which were game breaking by a normal person's definition by release) but not to the extent that it goes from a good game to a heaping pile of shit that you seem to believe because they haven't implemented choosing your own squad or they haven't made the destruction engine to your specific directions and standards.
User avatar #87 - garymotherfingoak (09/01/2014) [-]
If you guys watched the actual vid on youtube and/or OP wasn't a faggot and gave the sauce, the person who made this aimed it at most videogame giants that use a similar unfair development process.
User avatar #26 - batsbak (09/01/2014) [-]
If people want to play the same game over and over again that´s their choice. But EA is systematically screwing everyone by publishing uncompleted games, bribing game critics, forcing smaller companies to work with unrealistic deadlines and waaaay more.
#59 - zukabazuka (09/01/2014) [-]
Well you can say the same about Activision really.

How often have they hyped their game? A lot. Ghost 2 was pretty pathetic really with hype. Fish AI remember? Quite sure they bribed people to get higher score. They raised the price of PC games to 60$/€ with Modern Warfrare 2. Infinity Ward got pretty butchered after the MW games where they split up to make Respawn Entertainment.
User avatar #5 - archoflife (09/01/2014) [-]
Half life, TF2, Left for Dead, and Portal all use the same engine I get what you mean don't worry

The source engine is a bit more flexible than Activision's engines
User avatar #58 - envinite (09/01/2014) [-]
Define 'flexible' in here.
User avatar #125 - demented (09/01/2014) [-]
Pretty sure Dota 2 runs on Source as well if not modded slightly. The fact that it's capable of handling models as simple as the HL1 citizens to the Dota 2s huge models as well as the general insanity of Portal 1-2. The shit that they made happen in Portal is a really good example of a robust engine with flexibility as you can do things in portal 1 that would cause most other engines to crash or cause errors.

If I remember correctly PC outsold a lot of the multi-platform games last few years.
#4 - 4chan refugee (08/26/2014) [-]
That's actually completely untrue. Even with a game like Skyrim that's considered to be more of a "PC" game, less than 15% of its sales were actually on PC. The same seems to be true of pretty much any big multiplat from the past several years, I've been looking them up. Here's the link for the Skyrim one, though:

#139 - 4chan refugee (08/26/2014) [-]
Todd Howard actually said at Games com that skyrim did in-fact sell more on the PC than on consoles
#98 - emiyashirou (08/26/2014) [-]
That's because everyone pirates pc games. This is obvious man, get with the program.

But can your consoles do this? They can´t
#6 - 4chan refugee (08/26/2014) [-]
Actually he's correct. See info graphic
#19 - 4chan refugee (08/26/2014) [-]
That graphic isn't about multiplats. It's about overall sales, which include indies that never went to console as well as flash games like Farmville.
User avatar #120 - securityexplain (08/26/2014) [-]
If you aren't going to count PC games that never got made into console games, then I'm going to do same, but vice-versa.

Do you really want to know how the comparison would look like if you don't count exclusives, or are you just going to trust me when I say that consoles would go waaaaay down?
User avatar #144 - masterjogi (08/26/2014) [-]
There is so much more pc exclusives, so I'm pretty sure that you are mistaken, pc would go down, even though PC masterrace
User avatar #174 - securityexplain (08/26/2014) [-]
PC exclusives rarely elicit any response bigger than simple "Oh, neat", simply because its a logical state.
On the other hand, whenever a new console war comes along, first thing anyone compares, after the hardware, is which console is getting which exclusives. In other words, exclusives are a major aspect of a console that pretty much define them. On the other hand, no one really gives half a fuck whether a game is a PC exclusive or not, given that its not a lousy conversion.

There isn't an amateur/new developer in world that starts working on a console game. A developer that opts out to doing a console version of the game is in great majority of cases already well established and has substantial amount of resources backing him up.

PC exclusives are natural because everyone starts with working on PC. Your claim is true, per se, but it is also illogical and realistically impossible. On the other hand, console exclusives are arbitrarily limited to their own consoles through companies such as Microsoft and Sony straight up paying devs to make them exclusives, in order to keep their consoles alive. There is no technical nor marketing reason why you would prefer to make console exclusive as opposed to multiplatform.

TL;DR - no reason to make game exclusive to consoles, plenty of reason to make pc exclusive (notably, indie devs who do not have resources to make it multiplatform)
#7 - 4chan refugee (08/26/2014) [-]
That has absolutely nothing to do with multi platform sales. Of course pc sales are higher got dumb asses who have 70 games in their steam that they've never even played before.
#54 - 4chan refugee (08/26/2014) [-]
Well it's money not numbers, so still. Money moved hands, and that counts.
#121 - 4chan refugee (08/26/2014) [-]
Again, it doesn't count. That includes flash games like Farmville, which make up a huge portion of the "PC gaming" industry.
#164 - 4chan refugee (08/26/2014) [-]
Very excellent point.
I don't give a shit about sales numbers, though. I'll just play what I want and that usually means PC, but sometimes a console is better just because dipshits don't know how to optimize games.
