Surely that wouldn't be you the rumour was about in that case. If you hadn't shown up, the only thing they would know about you would be your name as it's called out in registration, which I assume is not Jovantay. Unless they were saying that you were registered under a false name that is.

not really.. i was the only guy that didn't show up those days, and somehow rumor started with that people wondering if i was a slacking guy, since i didn't show up, then the rumor started to change to me being a big black guy, and because i was black now i also had to be a burglar, and because i was big black burglar now, i had to be from a ghetto in Chicago. Then some fat liar told everybody at school he knew me, and my name was "Jovantay".

Trust me every fucking one acted like they didn't know anything, when i asked who made the rumor about me.

Why do people still use the term "indian" when referring to a native american in this day and age? I'll never get it.

why are there people that insist on using the term african american to refer to black people even though not all of them are from africa? being socially correct isnt socially correct. i live in alaska so i say native to refer to the natives up here. when i was in new mexico i had to specify alaska native when talking about natives. its how you differentiate.

Ignorance doesn't excuse further ignorance. I don't refer to anybody as (blank)-American unless I know they are of that nationality. Everybody should be smart enough at this point to be able to do the same, either leave out ethnicity or get the facts straight.

There's no excuse to refer to any ethnically native person as "American Indian", especially considering that's just confusing now that we have a fair-sized actual American Indian or Indian American population.

No, by my logic we should call everybody by their fucking name. But more to the point in referring to one's ethnicity we should call Natives of America either "Natives" "Aboriginal" or yes their actual tribe if they are from just one tribe.

Either way what I'm trying to say is only the dumb, lazy, or dumb and lazy people call any ethnically Native people "Indian" because in 2013 we know very damn well that the Native peoples of America are not from the West Indies. I don't care if it's allowed socially right now to call Native people "Indian" it was once socially allowed to call anybody not white "colored" and most definitely isn't socially acceptable. I'm not putting the incorrect use of "Indian" on the same level as say using the word "nigger" as the word "nigger" has quite the history of hate and animosity that "Indian" does not. They are both ignorant.

american indian is actually the correct term. colored is still a socially acceptable term. the NAACP would, to quote dr cox, be called NAAAA if Colored People was not a socialy acceptable term. we are all well aware they are not from the indies but that doesnt change the name they have been given. should we change the names of iceland and greenland since they are wrong? should we stop using the term hispanics because it is 2013 and we know that mexicans dont hail from hispaniola.

the point being im whiter than snow but im native born american. i can call myself native and i wouldnt really be wrong. native americans can apply to people that were not here before columbus. American Indian is a term recognized as an ethnicity many applications have it written right on there.

First of all I dare you to call anybody colored, it's not always going to turn out right. Second of all, I don't care if you like or dislike the use of the term "Native" in reference to people born ethnically native to America, the usage of the term "Indian" is still wrong.

I don't care if Merriam Webster dictionary has it as a used term, because they're correct that it is a socially acceptable term. That still doesn't negate the fact that it is an ignorant and inaccurate term. I guarantee you that at some point the Webster dictionary had people of dark colored skin under the word "nigger" because it was socially acceptable. Books can change, but people have to change first.

I don't understand people's attachment with the grossly inaccurate usage of Indian, it makes zero sense. It's simple instead of saying "Indian" you say anything else that can be remotely accurate. People are using the term "Indian" today in reference to ethnically native people out of sheer stubbornness. There is no other reason than "that's just what people have been saying" it's not because Natives are part Indian or at one time were from India or anything related to India. The only reason anybody today is even using that term inaccurately is because some people landed on the wrong rock and didn't have a clue until much later, so they called the locals "Indians".

It's inaccurate and it is stupid and it sounds ignorant. The only thing that you have proven to me is what I already know. The modern usage of "American Indian" in reference to ethnically native people of America is socially acceptable. You haven't proven anything more, my original point still stands.
