**thehistorylover rolled image**I remember a professor once gave an impromptu lecture about the typical Southern Belle Mother in the days of slavery. Since the rich families had slaves, the rich mothers didn't actually raise their children. A slave woman would do this. This is why Southern Belles had those accents. The boys would eventually go to school and have most of the accent taken out of them (but they'd still sound a little southern, since slaves had already influenced the southern dialects at this point), while the women would sound more exaggerated and "black" because they stayed at home. Some foreigners visiting southern U.S.A. at the time would comment on how "black" the higher class women sounded. Meanwhile, all the Southern Belle Mothers ... all they were good for was popping out babies and not raising them. I think they managed the staff and did other lady stuff that most women today are to busy being useful to bother with, like parties and dancing and wearing fancy clothes. Raising babies? That was slave work to them, nothing a real lady would bother with. I have no sources right now to back all this up, and I could be 100% incorrect about all of this.

oh thank god you're here anon. the doctors at medical school thought we didn't need to know about "blood", or whatever the red goo is called, so instead we just decided that if any of our patients starting leaking the heart juice we'll apply duct tape and go ask a nurse if they know if it's poo.
