Your initial goal in LoL is to reach level 30, which doesn't go any faster by paying. Then your goal is to move up in ranked. If you buy more champions you are less practiced with each of them. Therefore those who don't pay have the advantage. Quite the opposite statistically.


I think you fail to realize that making games costs money. They need a source of income, but you gain no advantage whatsoever by paying in lol. I haven't paid myself and have carried many a games and tend to be the top player on my team, as compared to my friends who pay for every fotm champion only to be stomped into the ground because money doesn't buy skill or let you skip practicing.

Actually you can buy XP boost for RP in store, which doubles the XP gain from matches.

Double XP = half the matches played = getting screwed when you play ranked. Apart from when smurfing double XP is useless.

There is a Korean toplaner called Shy, who started playing in April 2012. 6 months later, he placed second with his team Azubu Frost on Season 2 World Championship, beating players playing from beta. It's not about the number of games played, it's about your talent. Surely, more games means better understanding of game, but most important part of gameplay is your mechanic skill and that is purely depending on talent. I started playing rankeds right after hitting lvl 30 and I won first 10 games easily, stomping every enemy on my lane, because they couldn't match my mechanic skills, although they had several times more games played than me. I've played about 20 games in S2 before it ended and I was already in Gold elo, which is top 5% players and I don't consider myself as good player. So don't tell me the games played are more important than your talent.
Also smurfs are usually buying the XP boosts, especially on EU servers, because on EUNE there are longer queues on high-elo and generally worse players on top, all good teams, like GG, EG or Fnatic are playing on EUW, so it's common to lvl up the smurf on EUW as fast as possible, so you can start rankeds earlier.

Some people are naturally talented yes. But anyone can be good at something with practice. And someone who has practised is more likely to be good at something than someone who hasn't. Simply, i only recently got to level 30. Not playing a lot of ranked yet as i'm not fully runed for each role so i tend to do mostly normals. I, like you tend to dominate my lane in most games, and then roam and help my team while my lane is pushed. But since i've only been playing for a couple of months i occasionally get screwed by my inexperience. Things like not knowing the cooldown on certain moves can screw you over, but experience is the best way to learn how to deal with things like this and how to counter other peoples play.

Basically, certain things only come from experience, and it's very possible to get screwed from a lack of experience. That's why i don't view XP boosts as an advantage in any way. The way i looked at it was that i'd get to level 30 anyway, might as well take my time and keep getting better, making new builds, trying new tactics etc. And it helped me a lot. When i first played ranked i managed to do a lot of good for my team. Dominated top lane completely so was able to help out our jungler and mid who were struggling a bit, and that was thanks to the practice and effort of learning and improving.

And that's why first 10 ranked games are placing you approximately at 1200 elo, which is about 50 percentile of all players, statistically meaning exactly in average skill position, not at bottom elo.
It's not like there would be extreme difference between ~200 and 100 games played. It mostly depends on you, whether you want to study the game deeplier or not. I've met people with 500+ games played which didn't know how much sight ward costs. Theorycrafting is important aspect of the game too and you can study different champs and builds on internet even if you're inexperienced, which will give you advantage over players who don't do such things and just play.
Example - Zed ultimate ability damage hits you exactly after 3 seconds. Kayle ultimate provides 2 seconds of invulnerability. If you studied champions deeplier, you would know that and you could time the spell cast accordingly, if you didn't, well, you're dead.
