Shot his girlfriend through the bathroom door, his story is that he thought he heard someone breaking in through the balcony, went to go check, his girlfriend got up and went to the bathroom and when he went back past and heard her in there, he thought she was a home invader, shot through the door and when he realized that she wan't in bed, he broke the door down to find out that it was her in the bathroom.

Or course there is also the theory that he premeditated it all and planned to kill her. But honestly, I believe it was just a tragic accident.
