| So, basically, silicon can also facilitate lifeforms... This seems like it's been in our faces for a while. I mean, silicon is one of the most used semiconductors, so I guess having energy run through something at differing levels can somehow create life in a way that we probably don't know of yet. This is really interesting! Thank you for letting me know! #184 -
N. Korean citizen (06/11/2013) [-] Just thought of something - On Earth, we draw parallels between carbon and silicon. Carbon is central in organic chemistry, the basis of all organic compounds and life. Silicon is key in inorganic chemistry, the basis of most familiar nonliving substances and minerals on Earth. Imagine a planet where these roles are reversed. They're both similar and the right conditions can catapult silicon compounds into abiogenesis. | ||

| Let me break this down: You know what "organic" means? Yes? The shit you buy at the grocery store? Fuck no, it doesn't! It means anything with carbon in it. Everything that is or has been alive has carbon in it. The only reason that most things rely on oxygen is because it is a very abundant element. We also can't even breathe it in its purest form, so no, we don't rely on oxygen. Stop trying to sound smart. It's also theorized that silicon could be a basis for life. | NO THAT MAKES NO SENSE! Intelligence does not correlate with oxygen if the being doesn't need oxygen to survive!!! Intelligent life can come from any organism given the right biological circumstances! A group of bacteria on Mars could be making houses out of dust mites for all we know. Maybe it's just my school. Or maybe my not-caring attitude is guiding me in the right direction, haha. And, history is a meh class for me. It's alright, some things are annoying and hard, some things are soft and easy. And LOL, my English class is so easy, I love it.
