Lel, if it was a Lovecraft story Guts would be dead or or insane level Casca insane. Well the mermaids are part of the fantasy setting and if made sense because of the place they were at. I mean, a fairy follows Guts since the beginning what did you expect? weresharks instead of mermaids? an imp instead of an elf/fairy? Your tastes are clearly shit and I don't trust you with them

Of course you know what I'm talking about, don't play dumb

Sorry for the late replay.

Well someday the day will come where I get on Jojo as well. Someday...

It gets on the list, but for now Monster, The seven deadly sins and of course Dorohedoro have prioirity over anything else.

Well I still have my savings to cover for emergencies but stuff like this makes me think that I should change my buybehaviour. I should really get started on keeping track of what I buy more cautiously like you do with your document of purchases.

Wait, are you trying to tell me that it's also licenced in Germany?

It's not that I'm cautious, I'm just shit at remembering, so I keep track of the stuff so I wouldn't forget to buy something, lol

Heyo, first real reply since a while I guess.

Bookdepository really is neat. Got my order today and they mixed up one item with some Sherlock novel. When I mailed them about it I got an answer 1 hour later and not only will they resend the missing volume I also get to keep the wrong item. Neat.
Also the Dorohedoro volumes are ******* nice they are about the same size as the Tokyopop 2-in-1s and the cover arwork is pretty goodlooking imo. I can send a picture later if you want

But hey what have you been up to in the past days? You doing well?
#489 to #488 - yibdiy (10/21/2014) [-]
You've already used this wallpaper once

Damn, that's cool. But yup, heard they have great policy regarding this. Truly, what a time to be alive.
Please do, I'm quite curious.

Mainly just the regular
1) Go to work
2) Go to school
3) Play vidya all weekend
4) repeat
so nothing much. But I'm okay with that, I don't mind stereotypical life (altough it borks up my perception of time, so I have no idea what day/date it is sometimes).
But I'm excited about that order I've posted in the buyfag thread - most of the stuff is already on its way, yay! (just AYNIK [not released yet, understandable] and Berserk [I blame Dark Horse] left)

What about you?
#490 to #489 - charac (10/21/2014) [-]
I know but I just remembered seconds after I posted it. Oh well.

THe seven Deadly Sins is standard manga size

Also the hardcover A Brides Story volume is pretty neat too. If only they weren't 12-15€ a piece.
Did you have another japanese lesson or is the next one yet to happen? I believe you obly have like 4 lessons the entire semester right?
And what have you been playing?

Oh neat there's nothing better than getting packets. I'm gonna recieve my Gurren Lagann Set this week most likely as well and maybe even the Airsoft pistol I bought used. I'm excited for both. It is kinda awesome whne you order something so far in advance that you kinda forget about it and then Bam surprise email that is has been shipped.

Nothing too exciting. Mostly getting as much work hours as possbile before the twentieth since at this date the hours get counted and my payment gets determined.
Nothing else really. Been meaning to write applications to some carpentry shops in the near vicinity for an internship but I haven't gotten around to it.
For the most part I'm jsut playing some vidya and reading manga most of the day when I'm not wat work or helping relatives.
User avatar #491 to #490 - yibdiy (10/21/2014) [-]
Better post a new one, then.

Nice. See? I told you VIZ is the best.
Also, A Bride's Story - that's the one with beautiful artstyle? Looks neat
Dark Souls: Prepare To Die Edition (probably going to buy it, since I've already played about 70 hours and still haven't finished, because I just enjoy going about and fighting whatever I can find, because the combat system is just fun - but it's probably a lot less than 70, because it counts time even when alt+tabbed and I've once even forgot about it for a whole day. Realistically I've played probably about 40 hours).

Hell yeah, looking forward to the next month, when I get paid again, so I can spend it on another large order. If everything goes well, I could probably order the rest of Berserk next month (but can't forget to put some money aside for christmas presents).

Oh, I see. Didn't do **** the whole month and now you tryin' to make up for it, huh?
Carpentry? So you can actually build yourself the massive bookshelf you want, huh? That's pretty cool, I thought you meant "some time eventually maybe" and not "When I get the wood and the time to hop into a workshop" heh

Played anything interesting lately?
#492 to #491 - charac (10/21/2014) [-]
Can't post 2 pictures at once now m8.

Dammit I didn't even look up who published those. This point goes to you. I'm running out of reasons to argue against Viz taking over everything. At least Tokyopop and Carlsen can keep up.

Yea the first few pages of A Brides Story are the biggest **** you to untalented mangaka I've ever seen. So much detail.
Ah neat I played Dark Souls on the PS3 quite a bit. Never got exceptionally good at it but I did reasonably well. You should get it on steam in a sale or something since it will be cheap and it also gets gfwl removed so that is pretty cool as well.

Me too man there are so many things that have caught my eye.

Nah man I even worked sundays one week.
I just like wood as a material to work with. There are so many different types of wood and possibilities to use it it is fascinating to me. I mena you can build a desk out of wood and metal but you can also make guitars and drumsets out of it or maybe you want a trasure chest?
But yes part of it is also that I want to be able to build my own bookshelves for which I have a rough picture in my hand.

Silverfall maybe. It'S a Diablo clone but it has a steampunk-vs-Nature twist to it and an interesting cel shading look as well. But it has some flaws that feel kinda weird nowadays but that is expected for a game that is roughly 7 years old. Makes me want to play Arcanum though. Steampunk is the **** .

User avatar #493 to #492 - yibdiy (10/21/2014) [-]
Not with that attitude m16.

Viz for president 2015

How does Bride's Story fare on the content part? I've heard it being called good + beautiful artstyle, I'd probably buy it at some point.
Not fan of digital purchases, I like my stuff physical. :/

Do you keep track of what you've bought/would like to buy? I've made a word document, is it a dumb thing to do?

Does the wood give you... wood? (that was so terrible my parents disowned me for it)

Not really into Diablo-esque games, but the premise really does sounds interesting.

Just finished Perfect Blue - it was pretty good, could predict the plot twist/10 7/10 . Shows that Madhouse was always a great studio, since the movie is from '98.
User avatar #494 to #493 - charac (10/21/2014) [-]
I don't know actually. I just got it today and I'm still reading some other stuff Nana to Kaoru Black Label so I haven't gotten around to starting it. Just flipped through the first pages to see how the artwork is.
I agree on that for the most part since I have all my books and **** but I don't care as much about games anymore. Steam is way too convenient for me.

No but that is actually a good idea. Since I use Paypal for most of my purchases I could just copy most of the information from there so I can keep track of all the stuff I buy and then combine this with a calender so I know when to expect what. Neat idea mate.

It's alright I like to make horrible puns myself too.
I just like the material a lot. Imo it is one of the best to make furniture and things of the daily life out of it and it is also renewable and organic by that I mean that every tree is different and as a result so is every piece of wood

Steampunk is the **** . Too bad that such games never do well financially.

That movie is still on my backlog but I have seen Paprika by Satoshi Kon and that was a neat movie.
Watched Cencoroll today and it was pretty good for a 26 minute movie. Lots of questions unanswered so I'm hoping they do the second movie sometime soon. Or at all.

User avatar #495 to #494 - yibdiy (10/22/2014) [-]
Oic, too bad. Be sure to tell me after you get around to it then.

Maybe I'm just 2oldschool4world

yay, I'm useful

That wasn't even horrible, just retarded. I'm so ashamed because of it.
Haha yeah you ******* hippie haha

Aren't Bioshock&Dishonored steampunk though?

Both Paprika and Cencoroll are on my backlog iirc. Btw: "According to the official website, Uki Atsuya announced that he is producing a sequel to Cencoroll (Cencoroll 2, tentative title). He is now working on the scenario and the storyboard, which is similar in length to the first one."
User avatar #500 to #495 - charac (10/22/2014) [-]
Will do.

Wood's amazing yo.

Bioshock isn't but Dishonored is very heavily influenced by steampunk. Goof game btw I need to play the Dlc sometime.

Yeah sadly they only put out a preview and nothing else until now but according to the internet it is still supposed to come out this year.

Today was a good day. slept until 10 am, answered the door in my morning robe and then I got my 1911 and the Gurren Lagann box set that I expected to come tomorrow. DHL is the **** .
User avatar #504 to #500 - yibdiy (10/22/2014) [-]
Bioshock isn't? Not even Bioshock: Infinite?
Sadly, I've never really gotten into Dishonored. I've played it, but just didn't find it to my liking.

What's it even about? I mean, I could read the synopsis anywhere on the internet, but why, right?

Today was a terrible day ;_;
Work and then school and then school again only to find out the class was cancelled, so I went home again like an idiot. Well, at least one of us had a good day - cool take pics of Guro Lagoon
#507 to #504 - charac (10/22/2014) [-]
Strange It says in the notification that 2 people have replied to my comment but there is only your comment. Intredasting.
The first two Bioshock games I'd say definitely no but I guess if you stretch the definition a bit you could make an arguement about Infinite. Although it is definitely not classic steampunk.

It's about Yuki and her friend Ayumu who has a transforming pet called Cenco. There is also a giant monster that has suddenly appeared above Tokyo that has something to do with the story.
It's really hard not to spoil a 26 minute movie and not make it sound boring at same time.

Aw man that sucks. At least it didn't rain did it?
The thing on the right is an artbook. It was all encased by a slipcase with all the age restriction information and credits on it.

User avatar #512 to #507 - yibdiy (10/23/2014) [-]
Haha, what are you trying to say, I have no idea why would something like that happen *very loud sweating*
******* got you there, mate

That... doesn't sounds very good. On the other hand when was the last time I've heard an anime synopsis and thought "Wow, that sounds good and not at all retarded", right?

Are you trying to mock me m80??? Because when I left the school building to go home, it actually did start goddamn raining.

Damn, that looks seriously sexy, didn't expect it to look so good.
User avatar #514 to #512 - charac (10/23/2014) [-]
Pretty darin to say that after the thing with the two comments ey?

Well it is only 26 minutes long so there really isn't that much to say without spoilering half of it. It's neat though I'd say.

Ah that sucks man. I was asking because on that day there was quite the stormy weather in most of Germany so I was thinking maybe the storm front hadn'T reached you guys yet.

The artwork is pretty nicely done though I must say that I'm a little disappointed that besides the artbook there aren't any extras. Looking forward to the movies though.

Dorohedoro is amazing by the way. I can honestly say it got the cutest lizardman-humanwoman couple of any manga I ever read.
User avatar #515 to #514 - yibdiy (10/23/2014) [-]
Y-You too

Gonna wait for the sequel, I guess.

Whoa, you saying we some kind of backwards country that has to wait even for rain to come to us?

Wait, it doesn't include the movies? Fokken bollocks I tell ya! You got scammed!

Oh, it's that thing? I saw some scans and it looked gorgeous. Gotta get on that soon.
On a manga related note - I've read Manga of the Dead Collection (8 one-shots). It was bad, avoid it.
User avatar #516 to #515 - charac (10/23/2014) [-]
Goonna wait too T_T

I know it's a joke but goddamn I was ready to write a butthurt answer reading this

Nah m8 the movies are included. That is why I'm looking forward to them. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

Yeah the drawings are quite nice and I digg the artstyle. The author was an assistant of based Tsutomou Nihei by the way. Explains a lot. Like why she's so ******* good.

How **** are we talking here?

#517 to #516 - yibdiy (10/23/2014) [-]
Oooh, I see. Sorry, my bad. Oh yeah, watch them. They are worse, but the final scene is great.

Haven't read a single one of his works and yet I know the name and that he is known for great and somewhat unique artstyle, heh.

Gave it 5/10 and only because I felt bad for the "good" ones there. Pic related, that's how one of them looks, lol. Others aren't nearly as bad, but still nothing great. 2 are terrible, 2 were "good" (in comparison) and the rest was below mediocre.
User avatar #518 to #517 - charac (10/23/2014) [-]
That scene is exactly what I'm looking for.

Well you can really just read whatever strikes you're interest by him as just like Inio Assano everything he does is amazing.

Holy **** that looks bad. Like french artsy fartsy comic book bad.
I'm gonna definitely stay away from this one.
User avatar #520 to #518 - yibdiy (10/23/2014) [-]
Oh, by "Pic related, that's how one of them looks, lol. " I didn't mean that the example was one of the "good" ones, sorry for that
#519 to #518 - yibdiy (10/23/2014) [-]
I can't just read something, JoJos, Alita and other stuff are frowning at me already just because of the ****** manga of the dead collection.

Then there's a gritty thing like this. It's still bad though.
User avatar #521 to #519 - charac (10/23/2014) [-]
Dude Alita is pretty good. But I know what you mean. Sometimes I can't get myself to read something even though I have been planning to read it for a while.

I'm a little bit torn on drawings likee thse. First they look pretty good but the authour just sketched a lot of **** to look nice and there isn't actually that much drawn out detail.
Not sure if I like it or not.
User avatar #522 to #521 - yibdiy (10/24/2014) [-]
No, it's just that I have still Eyeshield, Medaka Box, JoJo P6-8 and Alita lined up and after that there are Lone Wolf and Cub and Samurai Executioner. Nihei will just have to wait

Yeah, on one hand I like its grittiness and the general feel of it, but on the other hand it's just a ****** unfinished sketch with zero attention to detail. A bit like Jigoku no Alice imo, but I think the artstyle fits the content rather well in Alice.
User avatar #523 to #522 - charac (13 hours ago) [-]
Well better get to reading then

Didn't read Jigoku no Alice but I looked at some pages and I think I get what you were referring to.

Also I Think I have a problem. Just now I ordered the nest 7 Dorohedoro volumes even though my paycheck hasn't even arrived. Send help, Manga is gonna take my food aways someday.

Lel. Bakka

Dayuuuum how much I envy you ;____; what's your favorite arc btw? Maaaaan I still cannot get over the fact that Ricker bitch-slapped Griffith, I mean... he technically slapped god! I was waiting for something like that to happen and Rickert went and did it, pure win!

I haven't heard of it being so...
User avatar #505 to #501 - yibdiy (10/22/2014) [-]
Well, it's not like I wrote that much anyway. Wouldn't waste bandwith on you

Huh, never thought about - probably Rosine Arc? What about you + fav fights? Mine are prolly whenever Guts goes against Serpicco.

You have now
User avatar #511 to #505 - cosmicapprentice (10/22/2014) [-]
Now that hurt me you big bakka

Rosine was the girl that was with them when Guts fought against that demon-moth chick right? I don't remember that well I've been thinking about re-reading it. I'd say my favorite arc is the re-incarnation arc or maybe when they met Schierke and Guts was given the Berserk Armor, things started getting funnier at that point well at least not that fun for Guts since Farnese started being interested in witchcraft and magic and Schierke is my favorite character from Guts' party. My favorite fight is Guts vs the Sea God oh and the fight against Mosguz and his subordinates was pretty epic too. Maaan imagine an good anime adaptation for everything, 100+ episodes, little censorship and no original content, sounds too good to be made real but we can still hope ;____;

With Rickert I see many possible outcomes just to not be pessimistic. Griffith/his demon generals may kill him, that is the first one that comes to mind. Griffith may let him go since he doesn't really pose any real thread even if he joins Guts and Guts can't even get near Griffith. Rickert may not join Guts' party if that happens since he himself already said that he can't be angry/feel hate towar Griffith the same way Guts does. Or either Griffith brainwashes Ricker and turns him into a high-ranking apostle, since Griffith is one of God Hand and the Idea of Evil told him that he was the 'chosen one' and that he may do as he likes with humans, this makes me think that since we don't really know the abilities/powers of the other members of God Hand, Griffith being the 'chosen one' means that he has powers/privileges the other four don't posses, such as turning a human into an apostle without requiring a sacrifice for example... but ohhhh well, who knows? Miura will surely think of something to give the story a little more flavor.
User avatar #513 to #511 - yibdiy (10/23/2014) [-]
Rosine was the demon-moth girl.
Also, really? You are probably the single person in the world, who enjoys the recent shounen-ish party development in Berserk. Although I like Schierke, it's really not that Berserk-y lately.
And no, pls no anime. It's way too good to be animated and the black/white gives it a unique feel. If they would actually do everything right when adapting it (HIGHLY improbable + they'd have to have an infinite budget), they could still **** up anime-only things like the colors.

No, what are you talking about? No idea of evil exists, just your delusions. There is no chapter 83, you are loony. Miura scratched that out because it said too much IIRC
I think that, to teach Rickert a lesson, Erica is going to get kil- lol who am I kidding, Miura won't kill off his smithy moeblob.

Well personaly I don't perceive the recent arcs as being shonen. I always saw it as a classic rpg in the shape of a manga instead of a game, where the MC pretents to accomplish his objective alone but later realizes hes gonna need help and that receiving help is not actually a sign of weakness. Although I do agree that it has been losing it's dark/haunting feeling. At the end of the Golden Age arc for example, when Griffith sacrificed the Band of The Hawk, I can honestly say I felt fear, but a different kind of fear, like fear from their helplessness of not being able to survive/comprehend the situation they were in, that sort of fear, that's when I realized Miura wrote the Golden Age arc to get to know the characters and make a connection with them and then have that haunting sensation at the sacrifice chapter rather than to know what happened before the initial events of the manga because, hell, he could have explained that in flashbacks if he wanted but it wouldn't have given the same feel I explained before. Well you can always take the anime and mango as two different things, even tho I really love that medieval etching/engraving sort of style the manga has mostly because I'm quite obcessed with medieval etchings/engravings. This is also the main reason that kept me reading the manga I actually would like to see a good anime adaptation of it.

It's still cannon you bakka Miura didn't really scratch it up. He just asked for it to not be included in the tankobon version because it gave away too much of the plot. Everyone knows that not everything can be kept secret forever tho.
Lel we all know Berserk is full of moe~ why do you think Miura keeps playing the Idolm@ster games? To draw influence from them of course~!

It's getting too family-friendly for my tastes Like, remember that super family-friendly scene when guts destroyed the heart of Cthullu? ******* kiddy stuff. Nah, but the mermaids and stuff like that, eh

No idea what you are talking about
Yeah, exhibit A above
User avatar #543 to #542 - cosmicapprentice (10 hours ago) [-]
Lel, if it was a Lovecraft story Guts would be dead or or insane level Casca insane. Well the mermaids are part of the fantasy setting and if made sense because of the place they were at. I mean, a fairy follows Guts since the beginning what did you expect? weresharks instead of mermaids? an imp instead of an elf/fairy? Your tastes are clearly **** and I don't trust you with them

It's by the same author (from the same period, too - '72-'76) and, as I said before, shares a character. 's gonna be pretty tight, I reckon.

Me too, actually. Just a moment of clarity (is it even the correct word? I'm tired), I guess. Tell me how you felt about Chaika later, I'm very unsure whether I should even watch it, since yeorgh says it's **** and I trust him 90% when it comes to tastes.

Also gotta work tomorrow, so heading to the realm of dreams, too. Gn

Also hi, cya, pls don't stalk much.

Huh I kust noticed that the author of those two manga also wrote Lady Snowblood (which was the inspiration to Kill Bill) which I'm reading right now. I liked the first half of it so now I'm also curious as to how LWaC and SE I'm lazy so forgive my liberal use of abbreviations are. Gotta add them to my backlog.

The last sentence of your convo down below is actually quite relevant. I am curious as to why people talk about this anime a lot. I'm planning to read the manga sometime regardless of wether or not I end up watching Chaika or not since it got licensed not too long ago.

Yeah had to work today as well. There was a lot going on today and now I'm very tired but at least there was cake at home.
User avatar #451 to #450 - yibdiy (10/14/2014) [-]
Oh, a nice coincidence or ILLUMINATI?! . Why only "first half" though? Haven't gotten around to further parts or just a decrease in quality?

Licenced as in Germany licenced? Why do you do this to me all the time?

That's such a nice view of a hard day - "It was hard and tedious, but in the end there was a cake, so it was ok" That's just so pure.
User avatar #452 to #451 - charac (10/14/2014) [-]
Nah I just got some new stuff to read right when I finished the first part and then I decided to read some of the new stuff instead of continuinf it. I was pretty interesting though I may get back to it this evening or tomorrow

Yup. The first volume came out a little bit before the anime started.
And I don't know why Deutschland is so cool we just are REally tho it just seems like over the past years the amount of weaboos as increased so much that publishers nowadays license almost everything

What can I say, I'm a simple man. I just need simple things to be happy. E.g. cake.
User avatar #453 to #452 - yibdiy (10/14/2014) [-]
Oh, I see.

Whoa, careful with the national pride, you know you guys can't do that anymore. that's pretty cool, but too bad that even if we (as in CZ) had a similar situation here and got stuff published, I most probably wouldn't buy it, because czech transcription of the japanese=ew.

Food is amazing though, it makes everyone happy. For example - do you know how happy would the Africans be with cakes? See? Food=happiness, it's science.

Also gn, tired and gotta wake up in 7 hours
#454 to #453 - charac (10/15/2014) [-]
Haha yeah. Couldn't help but to think of this picture.

I love good food. I tried to found a "Restaurants Alliance" (Working Title) once that basically meant a few friends and I would go to a new restaurant once a week to try them out.
My proposal was denied due to monetary concerns

Yes I should be very tired myself but for some ******* reason I' still awake even though I was dead tired just a short while ago. ******* human bodies, they never make sense.

User avatar #455 to #454 - yibdiy (10/15/2014) [-]
That sounds pretty damn neat, but I can see why it was denied, I mean, it could get rather pricey.
Btw thanks for reminding me that I'm stuck at work for 6 hours and then school for 3 hours without food and I'm hungry already.

Oh, that feel, I know that son of a bitch all too well.
"Jesus **** I'm tired! But I'll stay awake for a few hours, so I don't have sleeping cycle shifted again"
"Alright, time for bed. Not very tired, though, I hope I can fall asleep."
"A-any time now, please?"

I also keep waking up about 4 times (sometimes more, sometimes less) during nights in about hour intervals. Today it was only 3 times, but it still felt rather annoying.
User avatar #456 to #455 - charac (10/15/2014) [-]
It probably would but I still though it was a nice idea.

Well always remember no matter how hungry you are there is gonna be a time again where you'll get to eat the most delicious food.

It is especially infuriating when you know that by all accounts you should be dead tired (e.g. you only slept 3 hours and then worked a 9 hour shift and it is 2 am) but you feel completely normal.

I only wake up 1 time per night and sometimes I sleep through no problem. Usually the shorter I sleep the less likely it is that I wake up too early.
User avatar #457 to #456 - yibdiy (10/15/2014) [-]
Not if I kill myself first

Yeah, it's ******* ******** . You are absolutely exhausted (as in tired body) and are tired mentally and you force yourself not to fall asleep before the night starts and at some point body is just like "nah, **** off." and you can't fall asleep, as awake as you weren't even a single moment during the day.

Lucky guy.

In other news - I'm gonna order $237/€188 worth of mango when the money comes (was gonna order it today, but the money hasn't come yet, at the very latest it's gonna be yesterday).
List of 'em:
Deadman Wonderland 1-5
Terra Formars 1-2
Pre-ordered All You Need Is Kill
Berserk 2 and 5-10
SnK Colossal Edition
User avatar #458 to #457 - charac (10/15/2014) [-]
So cheeky

Oh neat the Colossal Edition is very nicely made plus it is ******* massive. Also I#ve never seen manga in a bigger format than that of the CE. Also there is a "1" on the side of it so I hope we'll get more of those published
Got the DMW manga myself. Did you get normal volumes or 2-in1s?
I found out today that Terraformars got licensed as well and that we get the first 2 volumes until christmas. Gonna wait a few months to see which publication is faster and then I'll go with that.
I guess most of the money goes to the Berserk volumes and the Colossal Edition

Speaking of manga I visisted my favourite store again today and I picked some stuff up as well.
Tokyo ESP 2-in-1 volume 4
All you need is Kill 2
That naked guy manga we onced talked about
Brynhildr in the Darkness 5
Dark Hideout The cover looked cool and the text on the back made it look like a horror story so I'm hoping it's gonna be good
Nana to Kaoru:Black Label 2
Unfortunately Vinland Saga 11 and Ikigami 8 have been postponed until November T_T
User avatar #459 to #458 - yibdiy (10/15/2014) [-]
Yeah, it would be nice if they covered the whole manga in these editions. You'll be able to build a house from them.
No 2-in-1. Only stupid German Tokyopop has 2-in-1, so I gotta pleb around with normal volumes. I cri everytim
Well, VIZ publishes a volume every 2 months, and the next volume (3rd) is gonna get published by it on 18th Nov
Pretty much, yup. Berserk + CE take up about 64% of the order, DMW, TF and AYNIK take up the rest (but both groups are only 8 volume each, I've expected the Berserk+CE to have a higher share tbh)

Oh, I'm so jealous of AYNIK, even the first one is just a pre-order and you already have both of them.
I've finished reading that, not sure if I told you. It was pretty good, nothing ground-breaking, but a nice short manga.
Isn't it called just Hideout? I have that in my backlog and although MAL lists it as 4k rank (which is really ******* low) I think yeorgh told me it's good (or at least ok), so I'm fairly sure you will enjoy it.
Oh, cry me a river, you have basically everything there, and even the stuff you don't have, you will have in Novemeber!
User avatar #463 to #459 - charac (10/15/2014) [-]
That would be pretty awesome and I really hope that the CEs are succesful so that Kodansha offers them for different manga as well. Or that other publishers copy them.
Once again Tokyopo proves to be a pretty cool publisher
AH I see. In that case the english version seems to be slightly ahead.
Speaking of book orders do you like getting small amonts more often or do you prefer saving up 1-2 months to then get everything at once? I like the latter a lot. It is so satisfying to place a big order and when you finally get to unpackage it it feels like christmas.

I'm not gonna lie it is pretty good but the novel is still better read it bro
Ah yes I remember. You said it was alright and I thought the plot sounded bizarre enough so I went for it
You're correct. For some reason the german publisher decided to add a "Dark" at the front for some reason. Happens quite a lot here actually especiall to movie titles. For example "Taken" was called "96 Hours" around here and Taken 2 was called "96 Hours - Taken 2". Derp

Well it's similar as to how I feel about Australia/USA. Those guys get even more **** for less money. Especially Australians with their ******* Madman and Hanabee. At least Hanabee is cooperating with UK publishers so I get some of their anime this way.
Oh well at least I got Tokyopop.

User avatar #464 to #463 - yibdiy (10/15/2014) [-]
Or just let VIZ monopolize the industry, they have the best deals anyway and they do a lot of these special editions
Also the latter - it kinda hurts me to give away so much money at once, but it's just as you said, it's like christmas, the things just keep popping up. "Oh, one volume, that's ok, I guess." and "Jesus **** , there's no end to them!" and then you dive into them like Scrooge McDuck does into his vault with piles of gold.

Still not a giant ******* cool kid who reads, just a pleb
Actually, same here - and by same, I mean the exact same change - Taken is called 96 hodin (96 hours in english). The second one is 96 hodin: Odplata (96 hours: Revenge). And can't forget about the classic - Mean Girls. Protivný sprostý holky in czech (Obnoxious vulgar girls - well, it fit the movie at least). But generally if a title is translated, chances are it's absolutely stupid.

And then there's me and I got nothin'

Gotta go to sleep, gn
User avatar #467 to #464 - charac (10/16/2014) [-]
Dunno I like the diversity that multiple publishers pffer. Also I don't see Viz doing a Colossal edition of anything so there's that.
I'd rather put them all on a shelf and stand in front of it and look like I accomplished something but I get what you mean.

Someday man. I have faith in you.

What a coincidence. Seems like this stupid "Rename foreign movies" thing was more wide spread than I though.

We all have bookdepository and considering what bookdepository is that's pretty neat.
User avatar #469 to #467 - yibdiy (10/16/2014) [-]
They do a lot of 3-in-1 editions though - namely FMA, Vagabond, Death Note, Uzumaki (the hardcover one). And let's not forget the boxsets... But I know, free trade and stuff...

Wouldn't count on it...

Yeah, it's ridiculous. And I know for certain that Slovaks have it the same way.

You've got a point there, bookdepository is ******* neat.

damn, I'm so tired, I think I might actually sleep all night today, that would be a really welcomed change. Good night (sorry for being here only for one reply)

User avatar #436 to #435 - yeorgh (10/14/2014) [-]
Well I may have said the anime is **** since for me the anime is **** when it's even somewhat different from the source.
User avatar #438 to #436 - yibdiy (10/14/2014) [-]
Which is somehting we have in common - I hate when adaptation takes liberties. Like now, everyone says how good Parasyte is, but all I can see is that it's completely different from the manga and that sucks balls.
User avatar #439 to #438 - yeorgh (10/14/2014) [-]
Yesss, I can't even watch the first episode with that extreme art style change.
User avatar #440 to #439 - yibdiy (10/14/2014) [-]
It's not just the artstyle - the setting is changed to our age, too. And an anime-only character. And dubstep "music"
User avatar #441 to #440 - yeorgh (10/14/2014) [-]
Wouldn't know about the rest, art style put me off it.
User avatar #442 to #441 - yibdiy (10/14/2014) [-]
I know you wouldn't, that's why I wrote it - so you would know.
User avatar #443 to #442 - yeorgh (10/14/2014) [-]
Well if you read the Chaika manga they skip out on some a good scene that was important for the mc's sister development, they also skip some minor moments but those can be skipped, still that sister moment along with Chaika talking like a retard was enough for me not to like it.
User avatar #444 to #443 - yeorgh (10/14/2014) [-]
Watching it without reading the manga is probably ok.
User avatar #445 to #444 - yibdiy (10/14/2014) [-]

User avatar #446 to #445 - yeorgh (10/14/2014) [-]
In my opinion it is.

It's fine but the problem is the anime passed it by a looot so i don't think the manga is getting any more chapter translated.

User avatar #420 to #419 - yibdiy (09/30/2014) [-]
"from before Federation" Ah, I was curious why they had horses.
What do australian recon units do anyway? I mean, there's not much stuff they can scout in Australia, right? Are they just like reserves and used in case of emergencies like floods (does Australia get floods?) and stuff like that?
User avatar #421 to #420 - Rei (09/30/2014) [-]
Yeah Before WWI horses were used in battle.

Recon units do reconnaissance to locate enemy locations and obtain strategic features of any given location. You know, intelligence gathering, a vital part of Warfare. They scout in areas which the ADF are fighting in.

Australia has the SES (State Emergency Service) which is a Government Funded civilian organisation, which uses a good amount of volunteers. They do the helping out with floods and other natural disasters. The Salvation Army (Church) also do a lot of support work with the SES providing food, and volunteers whenever there is a natural disaster. Last flood season my old Church was a Emergency Evacuation center.

Flooding is particularly vicious in the Region of Australia I live in. During the last drought it was the only location in Australia which had more than ample supply of water to have water restrictions. You'd literally drive through the mountain pass and go from dry, brown grasslands to lush green bushland.
User avatar #422 to #421 - yibdiy (09/30/2014) [-]
Yeah, back then when tanks weren't a thing they were ok, I guess.

I know what recon is, but I meant currently - y'know when ADF has only 400 troops deployed in middle east and that's about it [citation needed]. Are any recon troops there as well? If not, then what are they doing in Australia? There's not really much for them to do, is there?

Floods - Bummer. Czech Rep. also gets floods, but thankfully the particular area where I live's never been flooded.
User avatar #423 to #422 - Rei (09/30/2014) [-]
Same **** as other Military Units.
User avatar #424 to #423 - yibdiy (09/30/2014) [-]
So basically what I wrote - just being in reserves for when the situation calls for them?
User avatar #425 to #424 - Rei (09/30/2014) [-]
Pretty much.
Surprisingly the Air Force are the ones responsible for the Communication Networks and some of the logistics in the field. That means they have a lot more guys on the ground than most other countries Air-Force.
User avatar #426 to #425 - yibdiy (09/30/2014) [-]
That reminds me - how crowded are Australian cities? I know there's not very much people in general, but on the other hand, most of the Australia is uninhabited, right?

btw gonna sleep now for a few hours
User avatar #427 to #426 - Rei (09/30/2014) [-]
64% of Australia's Population live in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide. Which are the Capital Cities of New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland, Western Australia, and South Australia.

But Sydney and Melbourne make up 40% of the population combined. Meaning in those 2 cities it's particularly crowded but not so much in other Cities in Australia.

Most of the rest of the population are on the east coast of Australia.

Good night.

so something like this? This is the absolute half way of his foot work. The reason i changed his foot work was because of the height difference. If he didn't straighten his legs, he would not reach the face of the bear. And if his legs were bent i would have to draw his shoes which i kinda wanted to avoid don't forget to mention. 4 hours to go baby.

I was thinking maybe moving his left hand to guard, but Taka in serious mode is actually a brawler, so I guess- wait a second. Just noticed. Bear has crippled (his) left paw. It's too short. On the other hand, Taka IS an asshole who would beat up a handicapped bear...
Stop it or I'll start blushing
#390 to #387 - xxxsonic fanxxx (09/26/2014) [-]
The bear's paw has some perspective going on and i don't think that i can move it's arm around without changing a lot in the sketch. As far as Takamura's left guard goes, he was throwing consecutive punches so he didn't guard a lot. Besides why the **** would he guard against a bear?

should i color it?
User avatar #391 to #390 - yibdiy (09/26/2014) [-]
It doesn't look like perspective, it looks like defect since birth, tbh.

***** i aint changing the bear's arm. Taka could guard against a bear but he didn't in the anime. I should know, i've seen the fight 58 times now.

i would have to change the sketch a lot. I would have to bring the arm of the bear down and front while making it somehow not hit Taka. You feel me? What exactly do you want me to do? I wont be satisfied unless you are.

You could just make the arm longer at put about half of it behind Taka, that could work, right?

I agree, the S2000 looks a lot better. I just wish more owners would decide to not molest their car with questionable bolt on accesories. When I was looking for used Hondas a few months back it was surprisignly hard to find an unmodified S2000.

I'll definitely gonna watch Gekkan Sabagebu and Zankyou but I was also thinking about Aldnoah since Gen the butcher was involded and it seems like the best mecha this season And I like mecha a lot.
Well maybe the end of the month was a bit optimistic but you already watched more than 500 eps last time we talked about it you were at 556 right? so I think you can do it!

Kinda tired right now so excuse if I wrote anything strange.
User avatar #354 to #353 - yibdiy (09/26/2014) [-]
S2000 is also quite expensive (at least here), but yeah #BanCarAbuse2014, sometimes I can't believe my eyes when I see what some people did to their cars.

Don't get too excited about Zankyou, since it takes a huge dive from interesting premise to terrible engrish and "save the retarded damsel in distress." I haven't watched final episode yet, but people on /anime/ said it was really bad (on the other hand, what do they not call bad). Aldnoah was... eh. Just... eh. Top notch OST and pretty nice visuals, but that's about it. MC-kun is the only competent person in the whole world and he's like a blank character - as if they forgot to give him personality.

Yup, now I'm at episode 576, so I still have around 90 eps to watch...

Well, no surprise you are tired, it says you wrote the reply at 3AM.
User avatar #357 to #354 - charac (09/26/2014) [-]
There are some things that will always be subject to your own opinion and then there are things that are just plain wrong. Sadly people tend to do the latter to their cars.

Well that does sound chastening but I'm gonna be optimistic and hope that it won't be too bad.
I like Mecha since I was alwyas a big fan ob big robots wrecking **** so even a Meh-cha I'm sorry would be okay in my book.

Wow you're almost caught up then.

Marathoning Shigurui took longer than expected since we also ordered pizza and played boardgames.
Shigurui was very meh. A little bit too slow-paced and drawn out at times and the fight scenes were very cheaply "animated". Intersting story though, sadly the anime ends very abpruptly and basically says " **** you read the maga".
#358 to #357 - yibdiy (09/26/2014) [-]
Not everyone can modify their car as the one in the picture, how sad.

Watched the ending - eeeeh, 6/10.
Don't be sorry, that was actually pretty funny. But yeah, I also started liking mecha a lot more recently - can't wait till I'll get to watching some new things, I'll definitely want to watch Break Blade or something like that.

Eh, not really. It took me a whole week to get through those 20 episodes...

Cool, I'll be doing that tomorrow (minus the boardgames, my friend and I aren't nerds ), but not with animoo (he's a normalfag).
Yup, heard about it. I've seen it "ironically" recommended a few times but it seems that the manga is actually solid, because I saw that recommended too, but it was in serious manner.
User avatar #359 to #358 - charac (09/26/2014) [-]
Stunning beauty. That HKS bodykit though.

Oh boy Break Blade has some really nice visuals. I've watched the movies and they were ******* gorgeous. I believe they were drawn by hand even though I didn't find confirmation for this on google. The story differentiates at the end of the movies from the manga though.

You're just mad because you always lose at Monopoly
Neat, you decided on what to watch already?
I'm planning on starting the manga now so if I can get some volumes in my hands I can say if it'S better than the anime. Though considering the anime it is very likely that it will be better.

User avatar #360 to #359 - yibdiy (09/26/2014) [-]
Yah, it's just gorgeous.

When you are unsure about mecha or australian stuff, just ask Rei. When I get into mecha, I'll definitely going to bother him quite a bit.

Nah, actually no board games to play and not enough friends it's just not the same with only 2 people imo . I wish I had stolen (sue me ) the Star Wars Monopoly we played at family while staying at England as an english school excursion.
Yip Man (1, 2 and the bad one) + V for Vendetta (it's gonna be short, Uni just started, so there's **** to do and sleep to sleep)
Oh, cool. Maybe it'll get a higher priority on my backlog.
User avatar #370 to #360 - charac (09/26/2014) [-]
I also really dig the setting, even though Golem are just different mechas it made a difference for me.

Yea Rei has some good Mech recs. Already put Gunbuster, Mazinkaiser and Martian Succesor Nadesico on my backlog and I hope I get ot Gun- and Diebsuter rather sooner than later.

Yea that sucks unfortuantely I don't get to play boardgames that often which sucks since they are a lot of fun with a small group of friends.
V for Vendetta is pretty damn good and it's always fun to rewatch it.
User avatar #380 to #370 - yibdiy (09/26/2014) [-]
Who's Golem?

On the other hand he likes Eva and his dad has PT Cruiser Convertible...

I feel ya man. But what I'd like to play the most is DnD (never played it before). I don't wanna play it online with strangers though.
Haven't watched yet, so I'm pretty hyped. Saw the "Voilá, in view a humble v-whatever veteran" speech and that was pretty damn cool.
User avatar #394 to #380 - charac (09/26/2014) [-]
The Mechs in Break Blade are called golems and they are a bit different from sci-fi mechs.

Evangelion is fine, a lot of ******** symbolism and unnecessary metaphors abut whenever the evas do something it' pretty cool again.
That PT cruiser on the other hand....

Ya pen&paper rpgs are a lot of fun sadly when a few friends including me tried to set up a round to play we didn't plan right so we ended up only meeting up a few times and never finishing an adventure. It was pretty cool though we tried out Shadowrun and DND 4ed.
Well have fun watching it, it really is one of the best movies I ever saw.

That's too bad. But at least you had some kind of attempt at it, I'm complete DnD noob.
Will do. The movie marathon is also pretty short (just 4 movies, what is this, kindergarten? ugh), so I can probably stay perfectly focused on the movie.

I think it's just a "cool word" the japanese borrowed. Didn't know it was from jewish mythology though. Interesting.

Noone likes Shinji.

4 movies are more than enough imo. I once watched the whole Lotr trilogy extended cut about 12 hours of pure film time and it was a little bit too much.
Could've bben just me though.

User avatar #406 to #405 - yibdiy (09/26/2014) [-]
There are some people who do...

That was our first marathon, actually. The longest one was what I did alone (OniAi + both seasons of Code Geass = 63 eps) and the second one was with 2 friends - All Harry Potter movies.
User avatar #414 to #406 - charac (09/28/2014) [-]
So you're Shinji fag?

I don't know man 63 episodes sounds like a bit too much for me. Nut I'm also used to start movie nights and so on in the late evening because somebody always has something to do beforehand so evening is the only time when everyone is available and thus our marathons don't usually run very long.

Finished Mahouka today and it was alright.
User avatar #416 to #414 - yibdiy (09/28/2014) [-]

Also, my fav Eva char:
well, I hate Asuka, hate Shinji, Kaworu is a fag, haven't seen remakes, so no Mari opinion, Misato is a whore, Gendo is perverted moron, Doctor is a stupid whore, rest of the characters is irrelevant.
I only like Rei from the whole series, so it's kinda easy choice to make
#415 to #414 - yibdiy (09/28/2014) [-]
Well, yeah, the most improtant thing for a succesful long marathon is starting as soon as possible. We just wait until we both have one full day when we don't have to do anything and that's when we do it.
OP mc, right? Sounds interesting, wanna watch it eventually.
As for me - finished Tokyo ESP (5/10 very mediocre), Barakon (7/10 just lovely) and Shounen Hollywood (5/10 underrated because it's pretty gay, but really, it does nothing bad or well, it just might be the most 5/10-worthy show I've seen)

Yeah the MC is very op. Also has some technoblabla going on but they didn't go full retard with it and only tried to explain some basic principles of the magic and left the details to "It's ******* magic, ain't gotta explain **** "
I've read a little bit of Tokyo ESP and I liked it. Haven't seen the anime which was probably the right decision. Manga is pretty solid so far though I'm only 6 volumes in.
I haven't heard of Shounen Hollywood before but 5/10 sounds kinda meh'.

Well Shinjis school buddies are alright too. I'd agree on Rei, can't hate on her.

User avatar #418 to #417 - yibdiy (09/29/2014) [-]
Bummer, I actually kinda like lenghty explanations of how stuff works.
Dunno, the story of it felt mediocre as well, so not sure if I'll pick up the manga.
It was actually airing this season - and not a single person on /anime/ (beside me) watched it. Like, there are shows that didn't have a list - they still had at least 3 people watching them. Shounen Hollywood - not a single one. Quite surprising, considering DRAMAtical Murder had its own list even though it was much, much gayer and a generally just terrible. But really, I wouldn't recommend it, but neither would I probably discourage people from watching it. It... it just exists - the most average thing ever.

Do you mean Nerd-kun and Bully-kun? Dunno, those were pretty meh imo (also irrelevant)
User avatar #428 to #418 - charac (09/30/2014) [-]
Manga is decent but not special, I read it mainly because I like the characters.
That's quite rare. I once watched a movie and on that list there were maybe 3-4 other people and I already considered that low.
Oh well I'm probably not gonna watch it anyway but thanks foor the info.

It's been a few years since I watched Eva but most of the other characters were so annoying that even those guys seemed better than the rest. Few exceptions exist of course.
User avatar #429 to #428 - yibdiy (10/10/2014) [-]
Soooooooo.... any idea what was the last thing we were talking about? Stupid rollback to 30th September deleted our convo on your profile (I remember posting that "Live Slow Die Whenever" Sloth wallpaper)...
User avatar #430 to #429 - charac (10/10/2014) [-]
Aaand another rollback.

Ah seems like you made some good progress on OP then. Only watched some episodes of Cowboy Bebop myself but I read some manga instead. Also picked up Lindbergh, Westwood Vibrato and Assassination Classroom which is pretty neat.

Boxsets are always nice but doesn't One Piece have like around 70-80 volumes already released?
But talking about getting manga and so on I remember now that we also talked about some upcoming releases like Ikigami 8 coming out here and the new Monster 2-in1 issues. Btw saw one of the Monster volumes imported in the comic store I go to and it looked neat. Ordered one from bookdepository this weekend along with Dorohedoro.
I'm excited to finally read it.
User avatar #431 to #430 - yibdiy (10/11/2014) [-]
tfw you write the whole reply and accidentally close the page... I know you know that feel.

Awesome, just we needed - more rollbacks!

I've only ever heard about the Assassination Classroom and that's also just vaguely remembering the name...
How do you feel about Cowboy Bebop?

Yup, 73 IIRC. Which means if they would release a new boxset soon, you'd be basically caught up, since it would cover vols 49-72.
Oh yeah, you are right. Probably gonna buy Monster as well (next order will be probably All You Need Is Kill, Terra Formars, Monster and the rest of money would go to Berserk).
Ah, Dorohedoro, another thing I'd like to read eventually. Saw it on VIZ one day and the covers looked neat, so I wanted to own them. Then I've heard it's actually good and so I was like "eh, maybe I'll also read it..." but mainly it's about owning the pretty, although slightly disturbing, covers.
User avatar #432 to #431 - charac (10/11/2014) [-]
Bebop is pretty good. I'm wathcing the english dub which is alright and even though the animation is a bit dated at times it still looks alright.
It's a pretty fun show although for some episodes it gets more serious usually to shed more light on a characters past. I'm on ep 18 and I'd say it is pretty neat overall.

That's a lot. I'm pretty sure you could fill a whole shelf with only One Piece volumes.
I'm waiting for volume 2 of All you need is kill as well.
Have been thinking about someday picking up TerrFormars. Didn't know the volumes were aleready translated. Neat.

Btw what are your thought on the Nissan Silvia S12? I went to check one near me out and it's a pretty cool looking car car. But it's also old and I have to fix some things before I can (legally) drive it. It's tempting.

#323 to #322 - hsm (09/24/2014) [-]
This is applies the perspective only to Takamura and the bear is left to be focused in different dimensions.

Looks cool though and this is possibly the actual size comparison.
#324 to #323 - hsm (09/24/2014) [-]
Now this is the over sized version. It's not pretty accurate in the size department and it is not the applied perspective. But the bear looks badass and this is probably my favorite version just because.

That's it. Choose any 1. Also if you want something changed, this is the last chance you get. Because after coloring, it's gonna be difficult.

Check this out, i thought i'd show you a rough before cleaning it up tomorrow I was facing a certain height problem because i just couldn't imagine his punch going so high without his looking ''unrealistic'' so i lowered the bear a little. This is all i can do. I can extend his arm a little upwards and bend a little but it'd look weird.

Choose a variation
#289 to #288 - hsm (09/23/2014) [-]
It's all about what kind of focus you want. You can suggest something else if you want.
User avatar #295 to #289 - yibdiy (09/23/2014) [-]
And sorry it took so long to reply and sorry for so many requests for you to consider

(and sorry for another notification)
User avatar #294 to #289 - yibdiy (09/23/2014) [-]
Oh, also Takamrua's stance is orthodox (left hand is his front hand and the dominant right hand is in the rear), so could you possibly mirror it or something?
#293 to #289 - yibdiy (09/23/2014) [-]
Prolly this one, it shows our beautiful savior Takamura more.

But could you place the bear a bit to the back in perspective, so it looks like Taka is closer because he sidestepped the bugger and hit him with a hook (only way he could take his cheek like this)? I've made a sketch (I'm quite the artist myself as you can see, haha) of how it'd look if we looked at Taka's back.

Also, if you don't mind, could you make the arm shorter (because a hook) and the fist go like picture related (in boxing you hit with the index and middle finger knuckles, so although you can hit either way against a human, he'd most probably shatter his hand the way you draw it.

Great work on the footwork though
User avatar #297 to #293 - hsm (09/23/2014) [-]
also i was going for more of a counter than a hook although i admit i forgot that he used his right to beat that bear
User avatar #296 to #293 - hsm (09/23/2014) [-]
tell me if this is right. You want Takamura to be closer to the camera and you want him to hit with his right. That's cool and all but from the glorious sketch you made, i can't figure out the image you're going for. If i draw Takamura as if we're seeing him from his behind then i wont be able to draw his face and his glorious abs. Don't apologize or worry, we can work this out.
User avatar #298 to #296 - yibdiy (09/23/2014) [-]
About the view - yeah, what you've described. The sketch I made was just to show that I meant for Taka to be a bit to the side of the bear.

Counter - Well, counter isn't a specific punch, you can counter with an uppercut. It's just what it sounds like, you counter the attack with an almost immediate attack of your own. What you draw is a "straight" (without the fist rotation) which couldn't take his cheek like in your sketch.
#301 to #298 - hsm (09/23/2014) [-]
this is the behind look you want? I'm drawing these while lying down btw so don't expect quality
User avatar #302 to #301 - yibdiy (09/23/2014) [-]
No no, I want it the way you said "Takamura to be closer to the camera and you want him to hit with his right"

Disregard the whole rear view thing, it's just a miscommunication.

While lying down? While.. ******* lying down? Damn it man, it still looks better than anything I've ever done (or will do).
#303 to #302 - hsm (09/23/2014) [-]
Here's another example i made before reading that comment but i think this could work. I can put some giant perspective on this sketch and it will probably turn out as you want. What do you think?
User avatar #304 to #303 - yibdiy (09/23/2014) [-]
Oh, so it'd be like Taka backstepped before Bear's attack and then attacked with a straight? Yup, looks great
#305 to #304 - hsm (09/23/2014) [-]
okay final question, sorry to bother. I also redid this a bit to make takamura closer to the camera. I can put mad perspective on this too so just choose the one you want. This or comment #303
User avatar #306 to #305 - yibdiy (09/23/2014) [-]
Probably #303, it looks more realistic Well, as realistic as boxing with bears gets
User avatar #307 to #306 - hsm (09/23/2014) [-]
lol we went around a full circle. I'll get to work on it. Show you the initial sketch tomorrow, k?
User avatar #308 to #307 - yibdiy (09/23/2014) [-]
I won't be home much tomorrow, but sure. Looking forward to it
#299 to #298 - hsm (09/23/2014) [-]
i will show you a few more sketches and we'll work until you find one that suits the image in your mind.
User avatar #300 to #299 - yibdiy (09/23/2014) [-]
Alright, I hope I'm not troubling you too much
User avatar #287 to #286 - hsm (09/22/2014) [-]
Lol okay ***** , and don't apologize for anything. I'll get to work on it.
#284 to #283 - hsm (09/22/2014) [-]
You know how many dead bears i had to see to finally be able to draw one.
#285 to #284 - hsm (09/22/2014) [-]
In the above image the perspective of the bear didn't work with Takamura so i decided to draw it as it was in the anime. This might be cheating but it's just to give you an idea if you want this pose. I'll redraw the bear and make Takamura center in the image a bit.

So that's all i got for now. Don't like em? No problem, i'll just go kill a few bears in Far cry for more references.

tfw Australia expanded the British empire

One hundred years ago, on 21 September 1914 German New Guinea surrendered to Australian forces and was placed under military government until 1921, when Australia received a mandate from the League of Nations to govern the territory.
The German colonial empire in the Western Pacific, with the exception of German Samoa, formed the 'Imperial German Pacific Protectorates'. These were administered as part of German New Guinea and they included the German Solomon Islands (Buka, Bougainville, and several smaller islands), the Carolines, Palau, the Marianas (except for Guam), the Marshall Islands, and Nauru. The total land area of German New Guinea was 249,500 square kilometres (96,300 sq mi).
Following the outbreak of World War I, Australian troops captured Kaiser-Wilhelmsland and the nearby islands in 1914. Japan occupied most of the remaining German possessions in the Pacific.

The only significant battle occurred on 11 September 1914 when the Australian Naval and Military Expeditionary Force attacked the low-power wireless station at Bita Paka (near Rabaul) on the island of New Britain. The Australians suffered six dead and four wounded – the first Australian military casualties of the First World War. A German officer and 30 native police were killed with one German officer and ten native police wounded.

In 1949, the mandated territory was placed in an administrative union with Papua previously British New Guinea which had been administered by Australia since 1902. Papua remained a Possession of the Crown while the former German New Guinea was a League mandate and then a United Nations trust territory.
This remained until independence in 1975 when New Guinea became an independent Commonwealth Realm.

I'm actually interested in making it that's why i picked it up. I don't do requests unless i'm interested in the subject people want me to draw. That's why i've said 'No' to a lot of people on facebook who wanted me to do their portraits.

Why wouldn't i wanna draw Takamura winning against a bear, that sounds badass.

Reply Count once again

I still have some books lying around that I plan to read but I just never get to it, mostly fantasy stuff and some "A song of ice and fire" books.

KissxSis is on my backlog as well, mostly because I saw a few gifs adn they looked funnily enough so I might watch it someday in the very far future, like around next years christmas or so.
I'm not categorically against CG but in most cases it gets integrated very poorly and/or they even try to save money when using CG which leads to horrible looking 3D models flying across your 2D screen. Most of the times I give it a shot and it doesn't bother me too much but I still think that if it is done without proper integration it is very annoying. Kinda curious how I'll judge Knights of Sidonia if I were to ever to watch it since that show is very CG-y it seems.
Tl;Dr I don't hate it but if it'S done poorly I think CG is an alienating thing in anime.

Ghibli movies are the **** , I don't know a whole lot about Miyazaki himself but his work as a director speaks for itself I think. I might be biased though because I abolutely adore Ghible movies.
Which reminds me the first real anime I've ever seen was Princess Mononoke at age 12 or something. **** was tight.

Nothing to worry about just look at me and how long I take to write a replay sometimes and don't worry about going to bed, getting enough sleep is more important. I worked wth only a couple hours of sleep far too often and it's a ****** feeling.

User avatar #244 to #243 - yibdiy (09/18/2014) [-]
You should get around to reading "A Song of Ice and Fire" at some point, a friend reads them and they are apparently pretty good (he's a huge bookfag). I just watch GoT, but it ain't as good as the books, or so I've heard (also many changes in the show, that makes me pretty angry - I don't like when adaptation changes stuff).

Oh, cheap CG looks terrible, that's for sure. Now, I'm not saying Bakumatsu Rock was good, or that it have quality animation or anything like that, buuut the worst aspect surely have to be those completely out-of-place and terrible looking sequences when characters became CG. God, was that awful.
Yah, Knights of Sidonia is on my backlog as well, I'm curious how well or badly it handled the CG (I saw some pics and gifs and from what I've seen, it doesn't look terrible, but not overwhelming either. Also the characters (now that I think about it, you get a mention every time someone writes "character" right?) look the same.

Well, admittedly I've only watched 3 Ghibli movies so far - Grave of Fireflies (my fav), Mononoke-hime (pretty good, but highly overrated IMO) and arguably the best Ghibli movie (according to internet) - Spirited Away. Which I didn't like and don't get all the praise towards it. I'm sure I'll eventually get around to watch more Ghibli movies, so my opinion on Ghibli may be a subject to change, but so far I haven't been very impressed.

Alright, thanks for understanding. In the end I haven't got much sleep anyway though... don't you hate it when you go to bed, it's already pretty late, so you are thinking "Dang yo, gotta fall asleep real ******* soon" but you simply can't so you roll over like a moron for tens of minutes, sometimes even hours?
User avatar #245 to #244 - charac (09/18/2014) [-]
Yeah I know I should but the "someday-eventually" phenomenon stops me once again.

I haven't seen Bakumatsu Rock but that doesn'T sound very pleasant.
I think Sidonia is going to be interesting since it is CG only or at elast a monjority of the animation is done through CG.
Luckily I do not but that reminds me of how I got my name her. Originally I only wanted an account to see if the **** section had some good stuff so I just tried characters because somewhere in the registration window it said "characters". The name was already taken so I just removed a few letters.

I've seen only 5 movies until now and Grave of the Fireflies and Spirited Away aren't among them. Another reason to get the collection although it's not cheap but still cheaper than getting everything seperately.

Yeah I have that sometimes too though the longest I couldn't fall asleep was about 1 hour. It's maddening when you have to get up early and want to sleeps as long as you still can.

User avatar #248 to #245 - yibdiy (09/18/2014) [-]
Oh man, I ****** up... I just woke up. I can already see how I'm going to struggle to go to sleep again, so I can wake up at 5:45.

Do you read The Gamer? It's a korean webtoon about a dude who gets some powers that make him like a video game character IRL blah blah synopsis blah description blah summary and it's pretty good. To the point - they have these... dimensions or whatever, that when they enter, the time inside can flow slower than on the outside, so let's say you are 10 days there, but the time outside passes just by one day. How amazing it would be to have IRL, right? (on the other hand half a year passes there and you are older by 5 years, which is not as cool, unless even aging slows there).

Don't bother with it. It's kinda fun, I guess, but it's very low quality show and really, if you'll never watch it, you won't miss anything at all.
Yeah, I'm also curious as how they've pulled it off.
Heh, nice origin of a name. Also I've noticed that a lot of people joined for **** . And I'm actually not one of them, which surprises even me, because on majority of sites it was because of it. I joined up because back then anonymous weren't allowed to thumb **** and barely even comment IIRC.

Man, you gotta watch Grave of the Fireflies, it's really good.

The longest session I've had like that was FOUR. ******* . HOURS. after that I gave up and turned the pc back on thinking "might as well enjoy the not sleeping"
User avatar #249 to #248 - charac (09/18/2014) [-]
In cool news yesterday at work an opportunity has arisen to get a Nissan S12 for comparably cheap. I'm kinda interested but I have yet to see the car myself.

That's gonna be a short night then.

I do not but it's on my backlog. Speaking of korean, manhwa is pretty tight **** . So far I've had more pleasant surprise than disappointments.
And I'd agree that a power like this would be most awesome. In fact when I had too much time on my hands and let my thoughts go wild I had similar ideas how I could get rid of my backlog sooner than later.

That show wasn't even on my radar until we talked about it but the synopsis didn't look very interesting to me. Probably not gonna add it to my backlog.
It's a neat anecdote but it kinda annoys me because at most other sites I use a different nickname.

Maybe in december then.

Wow that's long, I also had moments when I just said **** it and didn't sleep at all but I never lied down for 4 hours.

Side Note; I'm now playing Resi 4 on professional and it's ******* hard, goddamn. At least when I'm finished I get a laser cannon unlocked.

User avatar #250 to #249 - yibdiy (09/18/2014) [-]
Holy **** , really? That's awesome! Too bad the pop up headlights are prone to failing, I love the look of them.

I think this might be the only manhwa I am reading at the moment, but I know that for example Tower of God is supposed to be amazing. I should read some more manwha... eventually.

Don't. It's the kind of anime you'd watch with a friend to laugh at in disbelief and to munch pizza to.
Well, I use about 10 different nicknames, so I don't really see that as a problem.

Yeah, one of those moments is maybe going to be today (since it's already past the midnight), but I'm not sure how I'll handle the day. Work, then help friend with english assignment and then another friend has a movie premier. There's a ~4 hours window between the friends, so I guess I could squeeze some sleep in there.

I hate it when things are hard, but at the same time I just love how challening it is. By the way I'm currently playing Naruto Shippuden Ultimate Ninja Storm Revolution (Naruto is ******* terrible [Until the end of part 1 it was actually pretty good though], but the games are very entertaining).
User avatar #251 to #250 - charac (09/19/2014) [-]
Another really good manhwa is Shin Angyo Onshi. It's kinda in the vein of Berserk and Vagabond and it is set in an eastern fantasy world. It's also finished in 17 volumes.

Doing something with friends is pretty neat. and that movie premier sounds good. Is it a movie he made of his own or are you going to watch a movie?

It's kinda frustrating dying 11 times before getting through but I'm getting through it mostly okay.
Is that the newest one? I think I've played that one time at gamescom and even though I didn't know what I was doing I beat a friend of mine who didn't know what he was doing as well. Seemed like an alright beat em up game.
User avatar #252 to #251 - yibdiy (09/19/2014) [-]
And into the backlog it goes.

Yeah, I have a movie night with a pal of mine like once a month, where we marathon some **** , lastly it was BBC's Sherlock + Watchmen movie, but there were also things like Harry Potter, LotR, Animated movies (meaning Pixar, Dreamworks etc.) night (no judging pls ) and we are planning Yip Man for the next week. We also went to both Hobbit midnight premiers and are going to the final one as well.
His (different friend than the one I just talked about) own movie, he studies cinematography to become a director.

Oh yeah, I remember playing CoD Modern Warfare 1 on the highest difficulty without crosshair + completing Mile High Club on veteran. It was so damn hard and I raged so much, but I managed to do it.
Yup, that was probably one of the modes (new one) where there's a 4 players death match (don't know about anything else in there that reminds me of a beat 'em up), otherwise it's just a 3D fighter game. It's pretty bad though, the previous one was better. Here they just said **** story and made a tournament and there are no boss fights.
Whiiich reminds me - how do you feel about QTE (quick time events, if you aren't familiar with the term)? From what I've seen, it seems that majority of people hates them with passion, but I actually like them and thing they are fun.
Also, I should probably try to go to sleep already. Sure, only 3-4 hours of sleep, but better than none, I think.
User avatar #253 to #252 - charac (09/19/2014) [-]
Ah, that's nice, I hadn't had a movie night in a while though maybe I can get an Alien marathon going on saturday evening. Since my parents will be on vacation for a week I should also do an anime night as well, last time I watched all Garden of Sinners movies in 3 sittings with a friend of mine.
I like Pixar and Disney movies though I haven't watched a recent one in a while I think the last one I saw was either Up or Wall-e.

When the first Modern Warfare came out it blew my mind it was such a refreshing expereince at the time and Mile High Club was one of the most intesnse mission I played until then. I'd agree though that the higher difficulties are a pain in the ass I only managed to play through on the second highest the one above was too hard for me.
The gameplay seemed alright but then again I only played for like 10 minutes against a friend so I don't really know much about it.
Funny that you ask that since in Resi 4 there are quite a lot of QTEs and sometimes they are annoyingly hard. For the most part I think they are annoying though if used scarcely they can be useful to bring in some variety once in a while. **** the ones in Resi 4 though I died so much because of them.

Hope you got some rest then.

User avatar #260 to #253 - yibdiy (09/19/2014) [-]
Yeah, I love them, although they do tend to get a bit expensive. We always order pizzas, buy energy drinks, some chips, one time we even had chinese takeout first... Oh man, we gotta get chinese food for watching Yip Man, it'll be an almost authentic experience, heh.
The best one I've seen so far were probably How To Train Your Dragon and Tangled. (I'm hyped for HTTYD 2 blu ray release in November)

Yeah, it was quite something back then when it came out. And I'm not even sure why I played it on the hardest difficulty, I just... dunno, hated myself? That sounds about right, considering how much it made me mad.
Well... if you've just seen the fighting, then you saw the best features it has to offer, really. Others are just annoying/useless/artificially making the game longer etc. But I've played every installment since the 1st one except Generations (meaning 1 on PS3, 2 on PS3 [got platinum trophy], 3 on PC [pirated, but got all characters] and Revolution on PC [also pirated, already have all characters, and half the collectibles])
Dunno, I always had pretty tight reflexes when it came to gaming and were good at button mashing, so QTEs are actually quite enjoyable to me. I've always got S ranking in boss fights at Naruto (S ranking = the highest, boss fights = basically long QTE sequence), finished Asura's Wrath a few times (basically one long QTE with some beat 'em up elements) and finished Heavy Rain (QTE is pretty much the only game mechanic there).

Yup, I got some in the end. And the day flew by, so it was pretty ok. By the way I've finally received my credit card today, so I immediately ordered Berserk volumes 1, 3 and 4 (I don't have much many at the moment, they'll come next month and if you are wondering about vol. 2, then it's sold out). I'm kinda pissed that Berserk is so expensive. It costs on average about 10,3€, while most other manga cost just about 7,3€.
User avatar #261 to #260 - charac (09/19/2014) [-]
Sorry for the late reply I'm still playing Resi 4 a lot but at least I make some good progress.

Haha ours are a little cheaper mostly we just order pizza and then have some drinks and chips nothing fancy.
I haven't seen Tangled yet but alongside with Brave and Frozen it's one of the animation mavoies I want to watch sometime.

I don't know maybe it's the sense of accomplishment when you beat a hard part in a game that motivates a player to try again and again. At least for me it's really satisfying to finally beat a tough enemy or section in a game.
Well I just don't like it when a developer uses them inflationary. It kinda takes the fun out of the game if you can't decide what you want to do and just push the buttons the game tells you to. Heavy Rain was really nice though but because of the story not because of its gameplay.

Ah neat, time to get all the mangas ey?
Maybe they are bigger than normal manga volumes or they are multi-volume editions or something? If not that is kinda annoying but english manga have some weird pricing sometimes.

User avatar #263 to #261 - yibdiy (09/19/2014) [-]
Aw **** ***** , I just found out that Noragami is getting published by Kodansha and the 1st volume is out! And then I found out that there are already 8 goddamn volumes published in Germany and my smile was gone, just like that. German publishers seriously don't **** around, if something is at least moderately popular, they'll jump on it like a hungry lioness jumps on an unknowing gazelle, except they don't eat it but make money of it, because they aren't idiots.
User avatar #265 to #263 - charac (09/19/2014) [-]
Guess whats sitting on my bookshelf?
Noragami is really good. The anime was decent even(quite surprising for a manga adaptation nowadays) and the manga is even better although Yukines bitching is kinda annoying but luckily that stops eventually.
Yeah german publishers are pretty cool, we get a lot of the intersting stuff since luckily the demand is quite high it seems. Tokyopop even started a Shoujo special where they pick up **** tons of shoujos and appearantly they aren't bankrupt yet.

Take a look at what has been license recently myanimelist.net/manga.php?id=44267 I'm probably gonna get this one since it looks kinda crazy and I like that
When stuff like this gets printed I have faith that our manga market will never die.
User avatar #262 to #261 - yibdiy (09/19/2014) [-]
Don't worry I wasn't home anyway. I went to that movie premiere - don't ask. I'd have to be very vulgar.

Actually, pizzas are the most expensive out of those things here. Maybe it's because we order 6 of them - 3 for each...
Brave eh (gingers ain't my thing), haven't seen Frozen, but Tangled was really nice and fun.

I don't really feel accomplishment, to be honest. To me, it's more of a childish reason where I do not want to give up, because I don't want to give the game - a game - the satisfaction of defeating me, quite immature, yes, but it's what keeps me going even though I am angry, furious even. Simply put, I'm just stubborn as a mule. I don't want to feel accomplished, I want to feel better than others, better than a game. It's one of my very ****** qualities, yet I don't feel the need to change this aspect of me, because it's probably the closest I'll ever get to being motivated.

Yup, Heavy Rain was amazing, the FBI dude died on me though. I missed one QTE and ***** was gone. I was like "huh? He's gonna come out any second, right?" by the end of the game I realized that it's probably not going to happen. But something that kinda ruined the ending for me was the glitch where you press X and Ethan screamed Shaun's name. It ruined the dramatic rescue ending for me (I probably wouldn't mind on re-runs, but it really killed the mood since it was my first time playing it).
But really, I don't mind QTE at all. Maybe I'm just weird

Aye aye, we gon' spend all the money I've earned as irresponsibly as possible on those mangaroos. Really though, damn, I'm planning to buy about 19 volumes of Berserk first and it costs goddamn ~210€ (I won't have much more money in a close future)... and that's just the half ot he series. And nope, they are completely normal volumes, it's just because Dark Horse sucks big floppy donkey dicks and can't meet its demand, so Berserk goes out of print as quickly as I wish it would go into reprint, meaning it becomes rare and the price goes up, god I hate Dark Horse Comics. Also no special editions.
User avatar #264 to #262 - charac (09/19/2014) [-]
Well maybe 3 pizzas are a bit overkill but that may be just me.

Well I guess maybe trying to explain behaviour like this with one single cause is a bit optimistic. Guess there are a multitude of factors at work here that influence wether a gamer wants to continue or not. But I digress and we're not here to discuss gaming psychology right?

Hah pleb. Just kidding but why not just reload? The FBI dude was one of the coolest characters imo. Also if you like Heavy Rain you should play Fahrenheit. The first half of that game is story wise one of the best there is. At least in my opinion that is.

I know that feel, ******* out of print manga and the insane pricing. Also if I were Dark Horse I wouldn't ever let a license like Berserk go out of print. I mean that thing must print money.
User avatar #267 to #264 - yibdiy (09/19/2014) [-]

User avatar #266 to #264 - yibdiy (09/19/2014) [-]
What else do you want to do if not discussing gamers' psychology???

Because I love the fact that the story continues even though a major character slash protagonist dies. I should replay it at some point and possibly get all the endings. Downloading Fahrenheit now, sounds interesting. EDIT: actually already downloaded, that was fast

And while we are still talking about games, have you ever played/finished/do you own Red Dead Redemption? It's probably my favourite GTA Rockstar game (and I played a lot of rockstar games, from Bully, through Midnight Club and Manhunter to Max Payne and all GTAs [and finished about half of the games]).

I've got a suspision that they actually hate manga. Can't explain it any other way.

Noragami - omg noooo, why do you do this to me man? But yeah, it's pretty good, I especially like the part that wasn't shown in anime (instead there was that eh anime-only stuff, great OP though) - how Yato saved Bishamon's ass and then how happy he was when he got his own shrine from Hiyorin.

Huh, naked man running on the cover? Into the backlog with it.

Fair enough it's an interesting concept to see how a story works out even if a protagonist lives or dies.

I'm curious what you'll think about Fahrenheit, it certainly has one of the best beginnings I've ever witnessed and like Heavy Rain it's very dependant on the choices you make.

I've never played RDR since I always hoped it wouzld come for PC but it never did. I only heard good things about it though.
Haven't played that much Rockstar games since Manhunter and Max Paine both got ****** hard by our youth protection for video games so we never got a national release and you had to import them if you wanted them.

It might take me a while to get to naked man since I'm earliest buying some manga again next week and the second volume probably won't be out until in 2-4 months.

Gonna watch Alien now. Gonna be back later.
#270 to #269 - yibdiy (09/20/2014) [-]
Yeah, it's something you don't encounter very often. But I think that even if it would give you a "Game Over" screen after a protagonist dies, it would still be a great game.

Installed and currently thinking whether I should play it or read the naked man manga (today I felt like watching anime after a long time), but I guess I could do that when I'll go to sleep, it's only 9 chapters after all (only 5 scanslated though...)

Oh man, you should totally get it. It really is my favourite Rockstar game even though I've platinumed GTA: V on PS3, finished San Andreas many times both on PC and PS2 and modded the **** out of it, and RDR even beats the nostalgia of GTA 3 (quite possibly my strongest memory of childhood - playing GTA 3 for the first at time at uncle's place on his new PS2) and I'm keen on nostalgia-bound games - Gothic 1 is still my favourite of the series, although G2/G2:A is definitely better. Aaaand it has a Zombie campaign DLC!!! You get all the DLCs and whatnot in the GOTY edition (I have this one), which costs about 20€ nowadays (at least here) - and you also get a pretty two-sided map of the game - one of the normal mode, second of the zombie one).
Oh, I completely forgot, you've got pretty **** Video Games laws over there in Germany, right? That sucks

Alright, when I will get to it, I'll tell you whether or not you've wasted money and/or should waste some more or the 2nd volume.

Cool, the original one?
User avatar #274 to #270 - charac (09/21/2014) [-]
It's kind of like those choose your own adventure books where sometimes you make a "wrong" decision and pages later it ***** you up completely but the story still continues to mostly meet a bad end. I think that's kinda cool.

Well I kinda handle games like I handle manga and anime, I have way to much I already want to play but I'll keep it in mind if I ever see it somewhere for extra cheap.
G2 with the addon was such a great game and there was actually quite a strong german modding community who put out small sutff like adding additional guilds to join for the main game or integrating old armours from G1 or compoletely new campaings with multiple chapters including spoken dialogue. **** was great. I spent months playing modded G2.
Speaking of Childhood memories if you want to play the best game ever just my opinion but I'm always right you should get Okami for the PS2. It'S definetely my favourite PS2 game.
Yeah though it has gotten better in recent years although we probably won't get stuff like Dying Light and Dead Island 2 uncut.

Yeah the first Alien movie. It was pretty good, the design work is absolutely fantastic even by todays standards. H.R. Giger was a genius.

#275 to #274 - yibdiy (09/21/2014) [-]
That brings me to the fact that I've started Fahrenheit yesterday (or today, whatever). So far looks pretty good, the beginning was damn interesting. It's not every day you start a game trying to cover clues about murder you've commited and then try to investigate it with different characters. The controls are pretty bad though (just as Heavy Rain's were).

Yup, the modding community around G2:A (and G1 as well, but to a much lesser extent) was great. I remember going to worldofgothic.de and not understanding jack **** , but I still found some cool mods there. But although Germans made some pretty good mods, hands down the best mods for their respective games were made my Poles (Dark Mysteries for G1) and by Russians (Returning for G2:A - I helped with translations to my language on this thing. We were translating from english to czech, but it was some ****** google translate eng trasnlation, so most of the time I had to use the russion version with english together and try to figure out context of it. And I just had to choose Pyrokar, who had the most lines out of all characters).
I think I might have played a demo or a trial on PS3, but it didn't really charm me. I'll be sure to give it another shot when/if the time comes though.

Dad's friend would agree. He's an artist - the kind who paints walls of clubs, tattoos, sculptures etc. (also picture related, it's the wall in my bedroom loosely based on Berserk - ~2,5m tall sorry for **** quality photo ) - and he just loves the Alien motive. He made quite a few club designs, car paint jobs and even sculptured heads to use as decorations.

Btw I found out there's actually 8 chapters of Baka ga Zenra out (which sucks monkey balls, that means there's just one chapter left and it's not scanslated yet - the last chapter was trasnlated back in June...), so I read them and... if I would describe it, I'd have to give an obvious example and that would spoil it, so I'll just say that it's pretty good. About 6-7/10
User avatar #276 to #275 - charac (09/21/2014) [-]
To this day I believe that the first 10 minutes of Fahrenheit made me curious like non other. The controls really are bad though I suggest just putting it on easy since it's more about the story than the gameplay just like Hevy Rain Same developer btw

Damn now I'm looking up mods for G2 again and checking up on old mod projects that were only barely started when I was playing G2. I'm kinda excited to see which mods were finally realises and which one never saw the light of day. Oh boy.
Ah you helped making a mod? Neat I thought about joining some small projects for translation help since I cannot into coding and I'm otherwise not very tech-savvy.

That's a really nice wall and I canb definitely see the Berserk influence. A friend of mine had somethingsimilar he had another buddy of his paint his whole bedroom whole with a Guitar playing Slash breaking through said wall with concrete and blocks flying everywhere. Looked neat I got no pictures though.

Looking forward to it then seems like I can expect something decent.

User avatar #277 to #276 - yibdiy (09/21/2014) [-]
Oh, then I hope I can change the difficulty, because I have already about an hour of gameplay.

Yeah, I'm curious as to how did mods like Golden Gate and other promising ones do in the end, I hope they saw the light of the day. (just checked on the Golden Gate, it's apparently out and second part of it should be coming out soon as well - but it's polish and has heaps of bugs) I'm also planning to play Gothics once again at some point. The feeling of wanting to play Gothic grows every day.
Not making, just translating a completed one. I'm also "not very tech-savvy" how you've nicely put it. Gothicz.net (biggest czech gothic fan site that's actually over 10 years old [and as I found out, I'm one of its few remaining* veterans with an 2008 account]) did a lot of mod translations into czech (maybe they still do, *the last time I've been there was... 2012?), because most people just don't know polish, russian, german, english etc.

Thanks, I bet he'd protect my virginty if I was a virgin. The Slash painting sounds pretty damn epic.

Yes! "Decent" describes it very well.
User avatar #278 to #277 - charac (09/21/2014) [-]
It was quite nostlagic for me too to vist worldofgothic again.

Talking about artists and tattoos what is you stance on tattoos?
I for one like tattoos and I wabt to get on or several one daay myself although as of now I#m very unsure what kind of motif to pick since I want my tattoo to mean something and be a little more than just be decorative. Just my take on how I'd get tattoos I respect the decision people with tattoos have made.

Sadly I only have some posters from bands and tours I attened to put on my wall. Better than nothing.

In other good news I finished Resi 4 on professional today and through the whole playthrough I only died 97 times.

Time for a new thread, **** was getting a bit confusing/long.

Yea that's the place. I saw a picture of it when I was young and ever since that day I wanted to stand there myself someday. It is the most metal place on earth.

Talking about metal, what kind of music is your jam?

Yeah changing teachers sucks, it just breaks your learning experience and then you have to readjust to the person now teaching. Had that happen in History and Pedagogy myself.

Oh you're right I totally forgot that this was happening. Awesome. Gonna check them out and if they are good which is to be expected since Viz usually is solid. The Bakuman set was based it is time to order my weight in books from bookdepository again.

Eeeeeh, a little bit of everything, I guess? Except for dubsteb. Or... other things like that. I don't know, I just listen to what I like. What about you?

Yeah. And it's even worse because I actually tried (I don't do that. Like, ever).

What are you planning to buy? I mean, the Monster volumes won't be out for another 2 years, so... ?

Also, going to sleep now, good night.
User avatar #221 to #220 - charac (09/11/2014) [-]
Well I guess you could say I'm your average metalhead I even have quite the long hair but for the last 2-3 years I started exploring different genres too.

Yeah it feels bad to try really hard to do something and then get shutdown because of things out of your control.

Well I meant that more like a "Shut up and take my money" type of analogy but if you put me on the spot I'd say probably Monster of course , Seraph of the End, Bokurano, Detroit Metal City and Parasyte. Oh and Mardock Scramble but i want to watch the movies first.
Damn now that I think about it there are **** loads of interesting manga on BD. I should make a list of the stuff that's available so I don't forget all of it.

Alright good night mate.
User avatar #222 to #221 - yibdiy (09/12/2014) [-]
Short hair masterrace (it's so impractical to have hair even as short as 2 cm, especially when trying to dry it. Thankfully I just stroke my head with my hand and it's basically dry). What kind/s of metal? I guess I like folk and power metal seeing as I like Sabaton, Elvenking and In Extremo (thank mr Gothic). more like one song from each that I really like and am too lazy to look for more

I wouldn't go as far as "try really hard" but yeah, it pissed me off tbh.

Oh yes, Parasyte! Manga with an actual english release, I should get that one as well at some point. I guess I should also make a list, because once I finally get the damn credit card, jesus christ what's taking them so long, I'll go on a ordering spree. Too bad it won't be a big spree, because too few monies...
User avatar #223 to #222 - charac (09/12/2014) [-]
I'll admit it's extremely annoying to take good care of long hair but I like it most of the time and on metal concerts it is a lot of fun to headbang with.
I like most metal subgenres except maybe nu and some black metal. Elvenking is really nice, I like the "The Scythe" album a lot.

Probably not gonna read the manga before the anime adaptaiont comes out but oh well. Didn't look that amazing in the trailers si I'll just wait until its finished airing and then check reviews and such.
Also reminds me that Terraformars comes out as well. The manga is on my list too.

User avatar #224 to #223 - yibdiy (09/12/2014) [-]
Yeah, I can imagine it's a lot different when a cancer patient headbangs and when rapunzel headbangs, heh. If there's one thing my short hair can't do and I'd like it to, then it's hair whipping people. But really, there are so many advantages of short hair and I'm so used to it, that I just couldn't let them grow anymore. Drying my head longer than half a minute is completely out of question.
Nu Metal is Tokio Hotel (is it correct? I mean those emo fags with lead looking like ugly girl), right? I remember the time they were hyped. Boy, was it terrible.

Too bad, it's great. And although I trust Madhouse, since it's probably my fav studio and things like Hajime no Ippo, Death Note, Hellsing Ultimate etc. have great animation and all, they REEEEAAAALLY ****** up the char designs. It's also set in our age, which is ******** , because one arc revolves around something... eh, I guess it could be easily countred, but still, the char designs piss me off a bit. I loved the old-school look of it. Oh well...

Terra Formars OVA already came out. It was bad - mega sped up, so much skipped content, the narrator was annoying, his voice isn't fit for explaining animal stuff etc. And the TV series will most probably have censorship, so it'll be even worse. Manga's cool though
User avatar #225 to #224 - charac (09/12/2014) [-]
Short hair is convenient I'll give it that but it can never be as fabulous as long hair
Tokio Hotel is more like Alternative Rock REally ****** one that is , Nu metal is more like an attempt of mixing metal and rap, you know stuff like Limp Bizkit and early Linkin Park. I'm also surprised that anyone outside of Germany ever heard of Tokio Hotel, I was kinda hoping nobody would notice the **** we put out back then.

I'd love to read the manga but I'll probably won't get to it until the anime already finished airing. There's just so much stuff left I wanted to read beforehand.
Tbh I don't know that much about all the studios so I couldn't judge Madhouse. I only know some bits and pieces about studio history.

Sadly I think Terraformars won't be that good either. In recent seasons all the "violent" anime that needed to be censored weren't that convincing. But alas hope dies last so maybe we get a good adaptation again.

User avatar #226 to #225 - yibdiy (09/12/2014) [-]
> Implying a head so bald, you can fire laser beams by reflecting sunlight, isn't the same tier as pretty, long hair

I see, thanks fo- wait a minute, are you trying to educate me?!
Well, they've been all over the glossy magazines for teenage bimbos back in the days and I DO have an older sister, sooo...

It's 64 chapters, if you just bite down the pillow and read it online, you can finish it in one day fairly easily.
Me neither, actually, but just look at that roster myanimelist.net/anime.php?p=11&q=&tag=&sy=0&sm=0&sd=0&ey=0&em=0&ed=0&c[0]=a&c[1]=b&c[2]=c&o=3&w=1 With the exception of NGNL, there's nothing on the first page that I have been disappointed with (and NGNL was disappointment to me just because... eh, just because of reasons, I doubt you care why I don't like a one particular that you might have not even watched)

Yeah, for example how about them Tokyo Ghouls, eh? Jesus christ, that's a terrible adaptation. Like... wow.

Do you have any guilty pleasures? For example I have SAO - I know it's bad, I do. But it's just so easy to watch. You just turn off and let yourself be entertained. And there are butts and pretty colors and sword fights...
User avatar #227 to #226 - charac (09/12/2014) [-]
Bald heads can be nice too but you need a kickass beard to be really hardcore.
Sorry my bad I forgot we were on the internet for a second and tried to be informative. Won't happen again I promise

Oh that's actually not that long. I'm considering just getting the volumes now since they can't be that many. The reasons for making a big order from BD again just keep adding up but I already spent my monthly manga funds so I'm conflicted.

I've only seen like 10 minutes of the anime and some of the examples for the bad censorship aka black bars everywhere and blurred food. The manga is neat though.
I'm not a big fan of the character designs in NGNL and that's the major reason why I haven't started it yet despite having DLed it already. I'm hoping for it to be decent at least.
Sadly only volume 3 of Tokyo GHoul was recently released around here so I'm behind as **** .

I haver never seen SAO so I can't judge you right now.
Oh guilty pleasures. A favourite topic of mine. I guess there are 2 shows I enjoyed that would count to that.
Kill la Kill which I really liked because it reminded me a bit of TTGL and I'm a huge sucker for that show.
Angel Beats, according to /anime/ it's pretty **** but tbh really ******* honest I cried my eyes out for 5 mintes straight after it ended. I'm not joking and I sure as hell am not ashamed. That **** got to me

I'm a bit tired right now so I'm gonna go to sleep now but let's talk about guilty pleasures again.
Good Night.

User avatar #228 to #227 - yibdiy (09/12/2014) [-]
Ha, good luck with that, half of the volumes are sold out brb, gonna cry for a bit btw there's 10 volumes

The censorship is actually the least of my concerns. They switched two arcs, skipped so many events (some more important than others), changed characters' behaviour (or just outright skipped many minor ones), made Kaneki more of a bitch, I don't really like the coloring or the choice of VAs for some characters, but that might be subjective, I guess, but there are many, many more reasons. It's really a terrible adaptation.
Also - what, you actually have Tokyo Ghoul manga released in Germany already? God damn it, no english release yet...

Guilty pleasures:
Haven't watched KLK yet, but I think I'll like it. Also gotta admit that TTGL is bit of a guilty pleasure to me, because it's so dumb. Soooo dumb. It all rides on a big rule of cool, nothing more. And I just love it, it's so amazing and got me so hyped.

I thought about writing Angel Beats, but I came to the conclusion that I don't feel guilty about liking it. Others don't like it, ok, but I loved it. I don't think it was bad and forced drama, I think it was really funny, then it was really sad, it had nice animation etc. and I don't feel guilty about liking it.

Another guilty pleasure (one of the guiltiest) would be Shaman King because childhood. And it's so guilty because I've watched it dubbed (to my own language even! ME! What a heresy!) because of nostalgia. I know Czech lyrics to the OP song because I really like it, way better than the japanese one. I occasionally sing it to myself, heh.

Good night
User avatar #229 to #228 - charac (09/13/2014) [-]
Damn, you're right. Oh well another title for my second-hand list.

That doesn't sound too good. Except maybe the part with the VAs as that is always subjective but if an adaptation cuts out content and changes characters from the original that is not a good sign. Anime based on manga that change the original material so much have an ever lower chance of being good.
Yeah the nowadays we get a lot of the god **** published in Germany, we have quite a lot of national publishers who license some really good mangos and supposedly we'll get Assassination Classrom and Ajin this year too which I'm quite excited for.

TTGL is probably the anime I enjoyed the most. I liked the " **** logic" concept and that the show itself just says that the gunmen are powered by your will to fight. Simple yet effective. Can't wait to get the BD set with the movies I haven't seen the movies yet and I know there is going to be an even bigger robot in the second one

I'd agree, the comedy was mostly funny and the drama parts were very touching except for Yurippes sob story at the beginning. It surprised me since It was in episode 3 or 4 On the board it has some kind of split reputation most of the time when AB comes up it get about 50% love and 50% hate.

I watched a few episodes when Shaman King aired around here. Thought it was fairly good but I was around 12-13 back then.
I also like to sing the german Digimon opening because it's really catchy.

User avatar #230 to #229 - yibdiy (09/13/2014) [-]
And just like that, Tokyo Ghoul manga ended - 14 volumes in total. The ending felt rushed but overall it was pretty good - 7/10, makes me sad it's over. Won't say anything more, because spoilers.

Lucky you, even if I wanted to buy Czech translated manga (which I don't), there's simply nothing good or at least interesting here. So I just have to make do with big Japmerican companies, hoping they will publish good stuff.

You haven't seen the movies yet? You definitely should, although they cut (a lot of) content, they editted some fights to make them more epic, mainly the last one. And I agree, it's amazing, it's on my 3x3 and I don't think anything will be good enough to make it disappear from there.

Whoa man, you hatin' on my homie Yurippe? I liked her story and it made me really... angry. Being a lone and eldest survival of 4 siblings, whose deaths came by "her" fault must have been devastating and I won't allow you to bully her.
The one I liked the most was probably MC's though. He actually almost turned his life around because of his sister's death and then he wasn't allowed to finish it? That's so unfair, man. And yet he still wanted to save lives by rallying the people stranded with him and in his final moments he filled out that organ donor thing on their IDs (organs are automatically donated in Cz by the way, saves me filling it in) and died just as the rescue came. That hit me hard.
About the board - they are a bunch of elitist assholes, I wouldn't pay much heed to their opinions.
By the way, are you reading the Angel Beats Heaven's Door? It's manga adaptation of the novel, meaning it's the prequel of the series. It's pretty ok.

Yeah, it's ok, especially if you add the nostalgia-overdrive I got from loving it as a kid.
Haha, I do that with the Czech one, too. Also the Pokemon one, but here I prefer the English dub of the main theme.
User avatar #234 to #230 - charac (09/13/2014) [-]
Yeah I saw that too, didn't think the last chapter would come so soon.

Well time to learn german then, ey buddy?

Yeah I'm giddy as **** because in around 1 month time the BD set will be released which I pre-ordered about 7 or 8 months ago. Can't ******* wait to rewatch TTGL and get to see the movies.

No h8 m8. I like Yurippe it's just the story came a little bit surprising so I was unsure what to make of it since it happened relatively early in the anime and she basically just told him the story because there was time to spare in the underground facility.
Otonashi da best. I too thought his backstory was extremely engaging because it was just this cruel fate. He was so close to redeem himself and then he died, heroically and he saved a lot of people but still. Oh well at least I can believe that in the end everyone returned to live and the two of them met right at the end.
Yeah the board kinda tends to have this hivemind mentality but I think some people are relatively-nice decent and you can get some nice discussions sometime.
No I haven't but onto the backlog it goes.

Imo Digimon>Pokemon and I'm super excited because the announced a new season that continues with the original character(from season 1)

Nah, better to learn japanese, so I could by from the source and not rely on any company to pick up some manga.

Wasn't there that one $1000+ TTGL BD set? I hope you aren't a scrub and you'll buy it

Yeah, just the premise of "only kids with cruel and unfair lives are here" is so depressing. I also hope they got their happy endings.
Yeah, I like some people there, but some... eh.

Unless you a Pokemon: Origins, that **** was good. Haven't actually sat through digimon yet. I watched it as a kid, but I haven't actually seen it per se. Gotta get to it one of these days. Eventually...
User avatar #236 to #235 - charac (09/13/2014) [-]
Haha no of course that is too expensive even for me. It's a new UK release and it was about 85 pounds when I ordered. Also better a scrub then spending more than 1k on a single anime
Amazon UK is a great way to get anime fairly cheap btw. At least for me since german publishers put insane price tags on their DVD and BD releases.

Well I also plan to rewatch Digimon sometime, eventually so we can watch it eventually together.

Gotta get up early so Good Night!
User avatar #237 to #236 - yibdiy (09/14/2014) [-]
>Spending any money on animoo

It's way too expensive no matter where you buy it imo. Like, 85 pounds is what, 107 euro? That's almost 3000 czk. On average, that's about 12-15 volumes of manga or 2 completely new games or 30 pizzas or 30-40kg of meat or 2 full gas tanks of my Punto etc. etc. etc. so I just torrent anime.

Sounds good. Alright, it's decided, we'll eventually at some point definitely watch Digimon together. Some day.

Alright, good night
User avatar #238 to #237 - charac (09/14/2014) [-]
I normally don't spend that much money on animu, TTGL is just an exception because it was one of my first and still is one of my favourite shows Probably THE favourite
Just like manga I like to get the stuff I watch/watched so I can add it to my collection.

Also breaking news (I just read it yesterday) - We get a Clannad DVD and BD release which is great because I always thought about watching that show. It'S gonna be expensive though I just know it. German publishers are greedy as hell when it comes to anime. Example if oyu want the complete first season of Psycho-Pass you have to pay around 150€ for 26 eps. That's *********

Great news. So I guess a realistic point of time to start would be summer 2015?

Apologies for some of my last replies I was a little bit stressed and tired the past 2 days but now I should be better.
User avatar #239 to #238 - yibdiy (09/14/2014) [-]
I admit, I was also thinking about getting ones like TTGL and Baccano, because they are in my 3x3, but... it's just so expensive for my standards.

Cool, I loved Clannad although the best girl didn't win, but that's why there's a VN Is it going to be dub? I hope not.
Psycho Pass - damn, that's crazy. That amounts to about 40 wooping pizzas! before you ask, yes, I like transfering money to pizzas

Yeah, that sounds about right, actually. Gotta read a lot of mango, so let's be optimistic and say I'll finish/catch up to Jojo, Medaka box, Eyeshield, Aria, Kingdom and Alita by Christmas. Then I'll finally catch up with One Piece anime and watch some high priority animoo/read high priority mango. Then school will become more intense and then finally summer break starts and it's gonna be Digimon time.

Oh, don't worry in the slightest about that, I'm just glad you are okay now.
User avatar #240 to #239 - charac (09/14/2014) [-]
Well I always tended to spend money on unnecessary things and I have a slight tendency to be bad with money. So that's why I buy all this **** . Worked out until now but I want to take up saving more money, just in case.

It's gonna have german subtitltes for thr japanese audio and it will also get a german dub, which is probably the main reason why it's so expensive. Making a synchronization is pretty costly apperantly.
It's okay I like pizze too, 40 would be a little too much for me though.

Sounds like a plan and I should read Jojo, Medaka box, Eyeshield and Kingdom sometime too. And watch Aria. Oh boy. Looking forward to next summer then.

Thanks man.

User avatar #241 to #240 - yibdiy (09/14/2014) [-]
Heh, tell me about it. I'm terrible with money. On the other hand, it's just money. Money was and will be, so why not enjoy it, right?

Dual audio, huh? Yeah, I can see how paying VAs etc. could make it more expensive. Goddamn casuals with their watching of dubs making animoo more expensive for others.
Too much pizza reminds me I'm not how I used to be. I could eat 3 pizzas and some chips/crisps and.. yeah, be totally full, but be able to, but nowadays I can barely eat 2 pizzas. Maybe I'm ill or something.

That's a lot of things to eventually read and watch. Damn, I'm actually getting hyped about watching Digimon now, didn't expect that. And apparently original Digimon Adventure BDs come out on 3rd March, so there will most probably be even a good torrent for it by that time, amazing.

No problem and if you'd like to talk about anything, don't hold back.

That's one way to look at it. What's money worth if you don't buy anything?

I'm a big fan of releases that are cheaper but only have subtitles with the original audio. Saves a bit on the money and nowadays the dubs aren't that interesting anymore.
Tbh one pizza would be be enough for a day for me.

DIGIMON! Those BDs sure are good news. Can't wait for glorious 1080p Angemon I'm not sure if the digimons names are consistent across al languages but I mean the Angel-y digimon that the orange flying squirrel evolves into

There was nothing serious going on ,it was just that today it was my first airsoft match with the team I recently joined so I stayed up late friday and continured on saturday spending my time planning everything and preparing my gear. That and sleep deprivation. Made it hard to concentrate.

True. Do you have a dropbox or something of them?
#213 to #212 - keltainenlumi (09/07/2014) [-]
30 Chaika pics on my computer. And only about 10 of them are unique face swaps.

Hey Yibby, do you use Steam?
User avatar #181 to #180 - yibdiy (09/03/2014) [-]
Just when I feel like playing Skyrim or when there are special events (= free games).
#182 to #181 - tanabata ONLINE (09/03/2014) [-]
Don't you just love it when they give away free games and you never play them?
They made Borderlands 2 and Dishonored free a while ago but they get removed from my list when I uninstalled them. Either that or they were playable for free for a limited time.

Have ya played TF2?
User avatar #183 to #182 - yibdiy (09/03/2014) [-]
Yeah, I have some also on origin and gog. Probably never gonna play them, but, y'know, they were free, so of course my inner jew can't contain itself and I have to have them.

Not yet. I'm thinking "I could try TF2 one of these days" for over a year though. I'm curious when one of those days will come.
User avatar #184 to #183 - tanabata ONLINE (09/03/2014) [-]
If that day ever comes call me, I'll be your Medic~ I'm also curious as to what items you have.

Recently I've become a part of the TF2 stereotype - obsessed with hats.
User avatar #185 to #184 - yibdiy (09/03/2014) [-]
Well, if you really want me to, we could play today, but I'll get home in like 7 hours (lot of errands + swimming). Then there's also the fact, that I'm probably a big, fat noob, since the last fps I've played was... no idea actually. Yeah that bad (I think Wolfenstein: The New Order, whenever that came out). What items btw?

Yeah, hats are... good... when you need to cover your head, for example. Can't underestimate them.

Oh no, 4 anons on my profile, what have you done. I got infected by your anons. Seriously though, why are there always like 7-14 anons on your profile?
User avatar #186 to #185 - yibdiy (09/03/2014) [-]
Oh god, there's seven of them now.
#187 to #186 - tanabata ONLINE (09/03/2014) [-]
I really don't know. There are always around 10 and they stalk me anywhere I go. They're either fans or the police looking for hard evidence that I'm a pedophile. Which I'm not.
User avatar #188 to #187 - yibdiy (09/03/2014) [-]
Of course not. And I don't have any drugs here, wink wink.

Seriously though, they are kinda creepy (and drugs are bad, m'kay). I felt weird when I was browsing your profile for some high quality Yurippe doujin (which I haven't found, how could you let me down like that?).
#189 to #188 - tanabata ONLINE (09/03/2014) [-]
Let you down? The Japanese are the one letting down me. Barely any Angel Beats hentai and the one that exists is meh at best. Besides, not many artists could draw Yurippe right. Probably Cle Masahiro, Kichirock and Hisasi can but they don't focus on old anime.
User avatar #191 to #189 - yibdiy (09/03/2014) [-]
So do you want to play the TF2 when I get home? But as I said, I've never played it, so you'd have to bear with me until I'll learn it, or outright teach me the basics.
#192 to #191 - tanabata ONLINE (09/03/2014) [-]
Sure, add me on Steam when you're free and we can play. Name is Tanabata or Tana Bata. I got this Momo avatar. There's nothing to learn really - shoot everything in sight.
User avatar #193 to #192 - yibdiy (09/03/2014) [-]
Aren't there different classes? Different classes = more playstyles = things to learn.
You don't take this seriously, do you?Are games a goddamn game to you?!

jk, sounds fun, looking forward to it.
User avatar #194 to #193 - tanabata ONLINE (09/03/2014) [-]
I've said this to a lot of people but, I don't like games. TF2 is literally the only one I enjoy.
No matter what class you're playing the most important thing is to just shoot.
User avatar #195 to #194 - yibdiy (09/03/2014) [-]
Wow, really? Didn't expect that. To think that the ever cheerful tacchan actually hates fun, quite the shock.

Oki. I'll just see which one I prefer, then.
