Why does it bother you? As long as they're not crazies who actually treat them exactly like children, it's perfectly normal. After all, if you're adopting the animal when it's still a youngling, it's pretty much like adopting a human child. And if you feel very close to your pet and see it as a family member, you may as well call yourself its parent or sibling or whatever. I consider my cats my brothers, as I grew up with them.

I think the size of the country is partly based on its significance... I guess Wales would be smaller than a pixel

In England, since it's not a real country. Just a region that was conquered many, many years ago.

Well it disproves the story of a worldwide flood, the 7 day creation story, basically the entire biblical idea of genealogy. Those are just a few examples. Science has shown many other stories to be false such as the parting of the red sea, I believe archaeology and historians have a good case against the exodus even occurring at all.
Things such as that I'm guessing.

No, a massive worldwide (redundant) flood would leave an incredibly large amount of fossils. The problem however is that the current fossil record doesn't show what it would look like if there ever was a worldwide flood. What we should see is a massive deposit of sea and land creatures with no real separation of time in the form of significant sediment layers. We don't see this however.
Many forms of dating going from light of distant galaxies to radiometric dating show the universe and earth took much longer than the proposed length of time from the bible. Even the creation of the earth alone in 7 days is ridiculous considering it spent billions cooling down from it's formation.

i think if Christians want to win arguments they should just say first say "the old testament was a lie." Then real discussions can be had, instead of about all the easily easily disprovable things found in the old testament.
Then at the same time, saying the the Old Testament is false is saying the Bible is false which is like forfeiting. Sooo it's kind of lose-lose.

That is very true. But you do have to consider our level of scientific understanding when they wrote any of the religious text. The popular belief is that the bible was "divinely inspired" right? if that is true then you cant exactly expect some guy with the world understanding of a kindergardner to preach to others with the same level of education, if that, to explain the evolutionary theory, and that we are a result of microscopic organisms becoming increasingly complex over the course of 4 billion years. Again im not siding with anyone, just putting the thought out there

This, as a non religious person formerly catholic I've found that the original translations in genesis more closely mean on the first day, on "a" second day, on "a" third day. implying that it might not have all happened in the swing of a single earth week, but could have been over sever years/millenia in one day segments of labor
