I'm a damn Ammo Troop stationed in Misawa, Japan. The fuckin' bomb guy who builds, stores, loads, and tests everything that goes boom on an F-16. MK84, MK82, JDAM, Clusters, 20MM Cannon, AGM-65, AGM-88, AIM-9X, AIM-9M, AIM-120, elbow deep all day in shit that will level a base. Come at me bro.

But seriously, y'all some cool motherfuckers. Just doing my part to spread a little less stupid on this bomb-ass site.

First 3 days of BMT, everyone shows up in Civvies with no Haircuts yet and standing in formation wearing whatever the fuck clothes they in-processed in. They stand out pretty well, and it's always a blast to see the stupid shit people wear into BMT that the MTIs rip them apart for. Best is when dumbfucks wear "USAF" clothing into BMT. What you wear to the first day of training will remain with you in legend for the next two months.

Air Force, my job is actually in the "Enabler" deployment bracket, where we keep a 60 day Mobility bag for sub-10-hour notice deployments if need be. Deployment brackets are more of a suggestion.

Largest standing US military force in Korea right now is located at Osan Air Base, ROK. Misawa, where I'm currently at (I'm going to Osan) retains the motto of "First in, Last Out" because of our close proximity to the Peninsula. The USAF is the primary peacekeeper between North and South Korea.

Those contracts are harsh. No way out, even if you marry and impregnate a woman.

For some reason saying you were stationed in Japan reminded me of this. Don't know your tastes in music yeah, yeah, Vocaloids are weeby , but, I dunno, maybe it'll help or something.

#108 - anonymous (05/14/2015) [-]
I (sort of) know this feel. I have only lived with my wife for 3 months been married a year because of confounding circumstances (she couldn't find work in the city I go to school). Will have to spend all of the next two years apart as well
User avatar #107 - straitedge (05/14/2015) [-]
You poor Seoul. That sucks :/
I just re-enlisted from Reserves to Active.
I have to leave all of my best friends who have been family to me for so long to go to Oklahoma for my new MOS.
Why, Fort Sill? WHY?!
User avatar #97 - rangerofthesea (05/14/2015) [-]
im not at that amount. but for me my family left to ohio from fort hood here in texas a week ago. and i dont know when i will see them again. it will probably be months. but in the past 2 years i will have seen them 3 months. not counting time lost this time. so i feel your pain.

Thats what you get when you sign up for the military. I don't know why people want to do it, working hard at a career would pay more anyways.
User avatar #162 - yeoldsnipermissile (05/14/2015) [-]
It absolutely would, I take no offense when people say this whatsoever, the amount of hours we put in, if paid Hourly as opposed to a Salary, we would be rich. It's difficult to explain exactly why people join. I can only speak for myself, but personally it just felt like something I needed to do. I knew full well the pay would be bad, the hours long, and the family life hard, so did my wife, but the experience gained, and the world knowledge beaten into us far surpasses, in my opinion, the foundation someone gets working a 9 to 5 trying to pay for college at 19 years old. I've lived in Japan since I was 19, I'll go to Korea when I'm 23, I am considered a civilian-sector professional at my given job, entrusted with millions of dollars of hardware, as well as peoples lives. It's the harder route, to be sure, but I wouldn't have traded a second of it for a stereotypical country-song early adulthood.
User avatar #105 - thebballin (05/14/2015) [-]
Careful bro, when you talk badly about the military you automatically get raged on, even if you are absolutely right.
User avatar #102 - straitedge (05/14/2015) [-]
Bruh. It is a career. Damn good pay, too.
Besides, not everyone lives their lives focused on money.
#116 - ruped (05/14/2015) [-]
I've got nothing but respect for #20, and anyone else who serves their country in such a way. But I don't think money is the point here, #20 has been apart from his wife for half their time together because of his service.
User avatar #117 - straitedge (05/14/2015) [-]
I just said that "not everyone lives their lives focused on money" tho. I agree with you.
The ones who join for the money are the most unhappy, most un-motivated fucks I know.

Look on the bright side. People who are together all the time have nothing much to talk to each other since they experience everything together. This way, whenever you're together you have all sorts of experiences to talk to each other about and share.

We call each other autistic, and make a lot of fart and dick jokes at one another, and often liken each other to Downs Syndrome sufferers when we play League together. It's pretty much the dream. After Korea though, we get to settle down for a minimum of 4 years in the US finally, so that's nice.
