thexxtalonxx (11/24/2012) [-] True story time... I served 8 years in the US ARMY from 2002 to 2008, got out and went to college to program video games. Spent my entire GI Bill on college, got a degree, and now I can't find a job in the field that I dreamt about since I was a kid. Instead I'm a manager at O'Reilly Autoparts. FML. Pic related. It's me when I was in the Army. #105 -
N. Korean citizen (11/24/2012) [-] I served 4 years in the Marine Corps myself, 2 tours to Iraq, I volunteered once and wanted to extend, they told me I couldn't because I was getting sent back 6 months after I got back to the states. I went to school for four years and got my degree, and now... I work at a shop for my uncle, no one would hire me. The real question though, is how you did 8 years in only a maximum of seven (2002 - 2008) I'm still not understanding that one. Ah well there is still that one year of National Guard duty on the way out. I count that since I still had to report and go to monthly training. Oh I forgot to mention that I did three combat tours, two in Iraq and one in Afghanistan. Also got hit with an IED (got a wicked scar on my neck from it) and took three rounds. Got 3 Purple Hearts, 2 Silver Stars, a batch of ARCOMS and other various awards as well. And what does my merit in service mean to the civy world at home? Jack fuckin shit. Makes me wonder, I'm Canadian myself, but still, nonetheless, affects me emotionally as well. I do not understand why there doesn't seem to be any significant association helping the veterans of war. This world is absolutely upside down. People like me should be working minimum wage (A&W ftw), the vets should be living in glory and luxury. | ||
