Wait so the four or five NEW IPs don't count or something? Heck they even acknowledged that players like shooters AND showed you CODFAGS how to ACTUALLY innovate in that genre with Splatoon, The new Smash has TONS of new modes (that are ACTUALLY different ways to play, not just more Zombies to shoot) and they've added characters that existed before most of you XBoners learned to shit your pants. How many games did Microsoft and Sony announce that use the exact same greyscale palettes and zombie mechanics? heck Xbox is remaking Halo, the exact same games you used to play, and for every "repetitive" Mario game they release, there's always an equal number of innovative Mario games along side it, they just know how to play the market AND innovate, and they know how to appeal to a wide audience, with games from Xenoblade Chronicles X and Bayonetta to Pokemon and Smash Bros, how much actual variance is there from Sony and Microsoft?

In reality however, these games are definitely not enough to hold up the console because in this day and age of gaming, whether you want to admit it or not, consoles have to survive on third party companies, which Nintendo lacks immensely. Also the part "xboxonerules" mentioned about melee is true as the attention grabber for smash bros and others titles have faded in the past. Now it can only grab the attention of old Nintendo fans.
In my opinion Nintendo is simply better off as a gaming company as the Wii U simply doesn't have the outside support to keep it self stable, and no amount of technology can help it with that. Nintendo is only surviving based off of it's old nostalgia fans and handhelds, which a console shouldn't be surviving off of. The new IP's aren't going to help it at this point either so really, it's best option is to resort all of their time into being a third party gaming company and take off from their. Don't get me wrong, I actually like the Nintendo much better than the Microsoft and others, but that is only because I somewhat of a fan to the company as well. I doubt that I would care that much about them if my childhood wasn't raised with their games. In the end the console simply has less games than their competing rivals so there's not much they can really do about it.
Also I noticed a lot of PC gamers supporting it simply because it doesn't try to be a wannabe PC like the other consoles, but you have to remember, that's not necessarily a good thing. Besides, we all know that gamesphere is the true master race.

I don't think the Wii U is "suffering" as much as people want to think, NIntendo appeals to alot of people beyond nostalgia obsessed fans, I've seen plenty of decent parents go into a GameStop or Walmart and pickup a Wii U because it has more family/group friendly games over expensive Xbox One and PS4 that require online play and gritty "edgy" type games, or Indie style games. Sure "gamers" clamor to these "bigger" consoles because of the "hardcore" games and third party AAA titles, I think Nintendo has the best IPa, and they know they need some third party support, which they are working with for games like Hyrule Warriors which is a huge step away from any known Zelda tradition, but Nintendo knows that with IPs as big and well known as theirs they have to be careful or things like Metroid Other M happen (or god forbid Zelda Philips CD-i)

Whether you like it or not, "hardcore" games sales tend to be the most profitable, and while yes they're improving on their IP's, it's still not nearly good enough to compete against Microsoft or Sony, at least sales wise. Regardless of how good you feel a new game, or a new franchise, or even a new rebuild of a classic is, th point still stands that if it cannot boot up the sales numbers than it will not last long.
Nintendo has already lost over a billion dollars in sales revenue, and is just barely making it back up with the continue sales in their 2DS's and 3DS XL's. Sure their might be a slight increase in numbers during the next smash bros release, but it won't nearly be enough to rebound them back into the console war.
My point still stands on the fact that they should remain as a third party gaming company and not work so hard on a console that has an extremely slim chance of surviving in the next few decades. If anything they'll actually make more money by having the ability to sell their games on multiple platforms that are already more popular than theirs.
Gif unrelated, I',m tired as fuck right now.

The pic is something my friend showed me just now about Nintendo haters. Kind of relevant, I suppose.

Keeping things safe for kids has its benefits for them, we would probably be able to trash talk people in mario kart 8 or post anything on the miiverse forums though which is the thing that bugs me the most about that family friendly vibe they gotta keep. Thank dog you don't have to deal with friend codes on the Wii U.

I'm not arguing against you other than your hatred of xbox one users. I am not a "CODFAG" nor an "XBoner" (that is a new one though) but I fucking love the xbox one because the graphics are great, setup and configuration is perfect, the controllers are the best I've ever used, and next-gen xbox actually has a significant list of exxclusive titles that look sweet. I'm not gonna hate on Nintendo like dude above though, they can make 750 more Mario games (which they will) and I will love every darn tutin' one of them. And the new Smash Bros. looks amazing

I don't hate the new consoles as hardware, I mean I haven't used them and prolly won't due to pricing, but there are games I like, but its just seriously this was the most innovative and game changing E3 Nintendo's had and the other two had so many of the same games, mishaps like Ubisoft's no female multiplayer, rehash of Halo, no KH3 news whatsoever, seriously. It's like IGN and Game Informer giving Pokemon games a low score for "repetitive gameplay and more of the same as previous games" when they add new Pokemon that function very differently and more battle modes like triple battles that play alot differently than 1v1, yet praise COD with perfect scores citing the exact things that make them repetitive and ignoring what might make each game unique (as short and "meat"less those features are)

I guess you're right... I mean Mario has been milked ridiculously, far more than COD or Halo or similarly insulted games. People would argue that each Mario iteration adds something new, but I actually think Activision tries really hard to distinguish each COD game. MW1, MW2, MW3 are of course going to be similar, people wanted more content and that's what they provided...Beyond that, COD games have different plot-lines, different game modes and even different developers. I don't see how people can justify Mario being so superior than COD in anyway other than personal preference. If anything Mario is milked far more than COD. It's simply Genre elitism. An argument can be made for Zelda that each game is actually very far apart time-wise, but things like Pokemon, come on it is the exact same thing, why does nintendo get away with it?
