Okay, so you let him stay a night. Let's assume that he's not stealing anything, doesn't have any transmittable diseases and he takes a shower and washes his clothes so he doesn't stink up the place. Maybe you're even kind enough to lend him a razor so he can shave, and assuming he doesn't do an hero with it kills himself in his depression an realization over how much life sucks for him , and doesn't bring anything illegal into your house guns, drugs, etc. AND on top of that doesn't blab to his friends so they come over and ask to stay and you once again risk all that stuff by being nice:

Then what? He's got somewhere to sleep for a day and YOU feel great about what you've done and got yourself a story to impress your friends and family with. It's kindness all right, but he's got 365 nights a year to find somewhere to sleep, and that "one or two nights" is less than a percent of that.

Or what if he begs you for one more night? Gets down on his knees and starts crying? And in your kindness you agree? When would it stop? Do you feel like throwing him out? I'm guessing not, that's hard to do for anyone.

Or how about you let him stay for a year? That's one more person into your life, and a risk that he's got issues that YOU will have to deal with drug abuse, alcoholism, gang activity relations (volunteer or not) or other criminal relations and issues that can have serious consequences for YOU.

Or how about until he gets his shit together? Will he ever? Or is it a person who has been abandoned by his family and friends Also, why have they? People don't do that to be assholes that is now YOUR responsibility?

To 99.99% of all people, it's just too risky and troublesome to do something like that.

TL;DR: It's kindness all right, but "one or two nights" is a lot more troublesome than it can seem at first, and most people won't bother with it.

One on one, that the 4th generation fighter could never out-maneuver the 5th generation fighter. But two vs one or three vs one, you don't need to be more maneuverable to maneuver just one flight member into a kill position.
