When you acquire resources to solve minute problems, your life doesn't magically beging to fart rainbows and happiness. Instead it evolves new problems beyond the reach of your newly acquired resources. For example, I don't worry about being hungry, or figuring out where I'll sleep tonight, because I have resources like money, and a bed.

Instead I went to school, where I now have to deal with the dickery that is the University DJ 4DM1Nistration. I can throw my bed and money at them all I want, but I'll just end up in the exact situation, 2 credits short of full time and the potential of not being able to take the class I want to because "we don't offer it at that time". Is it as immediate a problem as the homeless guy who might need a sandwich? No, but if I don't solve this problem, it holds the potential to spiral into that problem. Will it happen? No, because I know how to be flexible and work around the system. So do I whine about it? No. Is it still annoying as fuck and frustrating as hell? Hell yes it is.

The difference between someone who's truly depressed, and an attention whore isn't their class standing, it's in how they deal with their problems. Some homeless people, for example, get proactive. They look up jobs and inch their way up. Others exploit the hell out of the system and rake in sympathy money. THAT is the difference...

Most of time is not about the opportunity nor resources but about your moral and attitude. If you don't have enough, you won't change shit.

Did I mention that I was recently forced out the closet by a very homophobic family, too? I didn't really want to be in conversation with them.
