Maybe. Reminds me more of Kyoshi style though. Which makes me think about using that.
It's all about using and redirecting your opponent's power, which is close to the swirling and change of direction motions that Air bending uses.

I think redirecting your opponents power is more a water skill. You have to feel your opponent, ebb when he attacks, and push when he withdraws.
Air seems more like an evasive skill. You avoid your opponent letting him strike air, and letting him fall almost entirely on his own momentum, not yours.
I compare water to QiGong (e.g. Tai Chi), and air to Aikido.

I'm talking about how the full concept of the elements can apply to any martial art, but thanks for posting what arts were used in the show.

As much as I don't like the idea of a style for airbending that isn't graceful, it actually might work in LoK...there are hardly any airbenders, so aside from what Tenzin learned from Aang, the Ba Gua looking style of it has basically died out....so, Korra is left to improvise her own, more aggressive style

I agree. the "new styles" are more "aggressive" and they've all lost the grace they had.
and i agree with early season Tenzin that probending is a perversion of the bending arts.

I hope that that's only a Republic City thing....now that we're traveling the world a bit more, I want to see the old ways still preserved and thriving...just because Beijing and Shanghai are some of the biggest metropolises in the world, doesn't mean that traditional Chinese culture isn't all over the country, hidden away
