Stalin would sign death notes for hundreds of people who had done nothing wrong on a daily bases. He didn't work people hard and then reward them. He worked them to death. I used to live there man. I've visited the Memorial, and grave plots as well. There was a reason it's referred to Stalin's reign of terror.

Maybe I should of gone into more detail about Stalin 'going a bit mad with paranoia towards the end'. I am well aware that many died working in stalingrad and many other places like it as part of his 'five point plans'. I am also aware of the terror his secret police installed upon his people and the widespread famine caused by his collective farming.

But the difference between him and the countless other tyrannical dictators was he thought he was doing what was best for his people. Many DID receive longer holidays and more pay for their work. Men and women had equal pay and rights.

However as you experienced it first hand and I have only read about I'd say your opinion is more accurate than mine. Perhaps you only remember things when they started to get really bad. I won't disrespect someone who has lived through a reign of terror.
