Just because we have a few mass shootings a day does not mean the local sheriff is going to send the data to the fed or even his own state to be counted as a statistic. There's also a new 40mm grenade launcher, the M320. A piccatinny rail means you can add anything on it practically (NVG compatible PAQ4, CCO, ACOG, a 4-speed hydraulic dildo launcher, etc). But as a common weapon, yeah I'd choose a shotgun. All you have to do is raid a NatGuard armory after the start of the apocolypse though. #95 -

It's a neat gun to won, and serves well for the range and home defense, but you wouldn't take it hunting, especially not on a longer hunting trip. Likewise, full auto has 2 uses, suppressive fire and bursts, suppressive fire does diddly squat to zombies, so you're better of with semi automatic. Yeah, 5.56 mm rounds are plentiful, but much, MUCH harder to manufacture than shotgun ammo, you need special brass presses to get them in the right shape, while you can make a mold for shotgun shells. Oh, and a shotgun can have a Picatinny rail aswell. #124 -

anon (11/02/2015) [-] Good choices and explanations, I just have to disagree with the last one... I doubt a civilian could drive a tank. I know that over the years tanks got more and more easy to drive with lots of electronic systems and stuff, but I still doubt it. Or even if yes, you are so loud that in the end when you run out of gas you find yourself surrounded with all the zombies from a large area. If we are talking about a total dummy the obvious choice is the hummer. Even a brain dead person could figure out how that thing works and it probably all happens in America (like always) so it doesn't have a manual transmission. On the other hand the motorcycle probably has a manual and if you never been on a motorcycle you could very well kill yourself. Now the boat could actually be a pretty good choice, yes it is limited to water but consider this. Water = no zombies, you could take some warm clothing and sheets and just sleep far from land, use an anchor not to drift away, run out of gas ? = paddle, you could eventually get to some island where the plague didn't hit. #94 -

You'd obviously keep track of how much gas you have left, and as you're running out, you'd haul ass to a safer place and ditch the tank. The hummer has the problem that folks would want to steal it, and be able to. People would want to steal the tank as well, but they wouldn't be able to. And if you had a tank, most military outposts would probably be willing to take you in if you gave them the tank, even if it was running low on fuel. #118 -

That's a Franchi SPAS-12 m80, you're still right about unreliability though.  See i thought the crossbow would be a good idea at first too but as the owner of a crossbow if you miss or have more than one target it's just not practical with the time it takes to reload #29 -

The bike would get a significant MPG ratio and if you can use gas from other cars etc. The Best reason for taking the Tank is you have a 100% safe location to sleep. The tank would however offer you an easy/safe way to get out of a city/urban area unmolested from both zombies and other humans, as well as put some distance from you and the zombies that will no doubt be shuffling after the aforementioned tank. The bike would make the most sense if you were in any way forced to keep using the vehicle you picked and only the vehicle you picked, but otherwise it's a pretty poor choice.  Only one I disagree with is 5, if only on the point that I don't think it's easy to drive a tank. #38 -
