Yeah, and drug use, underage drug use even. It's a decent book, although the main character turns into a fairly good example of a Mary Sue throughout the series. Actually, it's my favorite series of books, simply because of the setting, the stone-age is underutilized.

Actually, shelter first, environment can take you down faster than lack of water. Immediately after shelter, water, fire, food. Fire-food-water order might vary depending on surrounding conditions, i.e. avoiding hypothermia vs hyperthermia.

Well no, that's for short term survival. Assuming that we're going to be stuck for a while, a source of clean water should be found while wasting as little energy as possible. You're right that i placed shelter way to low down on the list though. I guess it depends on the temperature of the island.

Exactly, he seems to state that as he lives and experiences physic, he obviously knows more about it than someone who isn't him. Or rather, he thinks that his feelings matter more than someone elses facts.
