There's nothing bad with them as far as we know. Since it's a relatively new product, no one has done any studies on their affects on the human body. Same way how cigars and cigarettes where totally okay before we realized they caused birth defects if smoked by pregnant women, they fucked up your lungs, and how addicting nicotine was.

It's a great way to ween you off smoking, but for some reason people are doing it for recreational reasons too. This wouldn't be a big deal if there weren't so many smug motherfuckers going on about how great it is and doing it in inappropriate places(Pretty much anywhere where a smoker shouldn't be is off limits) then arguing about how safe they are when asked to take it somewhere else.
