I thought that was eldest not Brisingir. In Eldest when Eragon is being trained by that one elder with like the only dragon left. Then Saphira tries to bang the dragon and he wounds her.

You're halfway through Brisingr. Do yourself a favor and finish the series, it's worth it.

I've been wanting to read that series, but how many books are there and what order should I read them in?

There are 4 books in total, and they should be read like this: Eragon, Eldest, Brisingr, Inheritance. I should reread the series too, now that I think about it.

Well, 3 out of 4 books are awesome. I hated Eldest my first and second time reading through. The 3rd time I found to be more pleasant. I just can't stand all the talking and politics and the dumb dwarves.

Also, the constant "Eragon" and "Roran" and "Nasuada" switching...

What did you think of the ending? Personally, I found it kind of disappointing, though I love the series as a whole.

I just felt like shit when Arya didn't end up marrying Eragon or at least being engaged to him and Eragon just left Alagaesia forever and I felt that the way Eragon defeated Galbatorix was a bit of an "easy way" to do it, on Paolini's behalf. Overall, though, I found it to be a fitting conclusion to the series.

I agree with you about the way Eragon defeated Galbatorix. I've always thought that there could have been some other way for Eragon to finally defeat him. . Think there's any chance that he rights another book to follow up everything that happened in the inheritance cycle?

He stated that the cycle was gonna end where and when it ended. He did write though a short epilogue about some of the later events, after the end of Inheritance. It's a letter written by one of the secondary characters, though I don't remember which one of them it was. You'll probably find it quickly on Google. I wish there was a Silmarillion of sorts, only set in the Inheritance universe instead of Middle-earth, about all the stuff in that world. It would be a shame not to elaborate upon all the lore of that universe, there's some really cool stuff in there that deserves a more in-depth analysis.
About the method Eragon used, it's not that I didn't like it (I actually found it an ingenious and definitely original way to solve the conflict, instead of the old "ultimate showdown") , it's more like I felt it was a little bit too easy for it to end that way. I expect Galbatorix to rise from the ashes and take his final stand against Eragon at the very least. There were worse ways to end the series though, so I'm not gonna complain about this one for sure.

I was thinking of doing that too, maybe when I'm less busy I'll take the books off of my shelf and read them again. I remember being so stoked for the fourth book I read 200 pages in one sitting the day I got it...man, great series.

Just that? Huh, weird. I was a little kid at the time Brisingr came out, so I probably wouldn't have noticed the difference. If I were to read them now, though, I would definitely be confused as hell.

for some reason i could actually keep up, it felt like how a movie keeps some stuff in the dark and jumps far ahead in the sequel,
but i doubt that i would be able to do it like that now
