Bahahahaha they are literally being ENcouraged, with all sorts of programs and campaigns. My friend works at Telekom, they have a quota of female employees they are supposed to fill, no joke (they never fill it, because they can't find enough women). This buddy has a buttload of stories of the shit women do in electronics, because work is given to any incompetent idiot as long as they're female, that's how desperate they are to get them in the field.
So yeah, tell me again how they're discouraged.

They are discouraged to to so by being told that they're fine the way they are. If you're a man and have a shitty career, God save you. If you're a woman with a shitty career, you can just blame men for it.

You'd think quotas in studies and work places for women, along with the constant media debates would be enough evidence that we are in fact encouraging women to enter STEM studies, they simply don't find it interesting. In Engineering school, we had quite a few women there. Not a single one complained about the lack of women there, even though they were outnumbered 4 to 1, simply because they refused to be categorized as women. They focused on their own individual lives, the same way men do.

Women protectionism keeps them from STEM studies, not cocky men telling them to go back to the kitchen.

It does when you get quotas out of it. Nowadays it's not so bad, but they're gaining ground politically. Their ultimate goal is to have a 50% quota, dubbing it equality, when in reality it just means a lot of men will have their dreams postponed or even crushed because they weren't in the top 50% of male applicants.

Women are welcome in science, it's a non issue blown out of proportions by people who chose gender studies.. If you actually believe their crap, you're a moron.

if it is of any interest, over the years women have dominated many sectors which where considered men only, back during the time when they would actually be laughed at for taking the job.

Today women who think they are being discouraged from getting a job because there is more men, tend to be either whiny cunts or social studies majors who have no interest in the job in the first place, the rest actually get the job and do it well. (with some exceptions).
