I just figured it would be easier to bring Elk down from Colorado and Wyoming rather than go to Europe I guess. Idk, guess we learn something everyday.

i think the first settlers brought them across the land bridge with them, maybe they rode them. how awesome would that be?

Ah I see, i forgot about the ranches out west. My mistake. They didn't show them on range map on the Red Deer's wiki page. Just curious, why were red deer imported?

cause they weigh around 1000 pounds. 3 or four times as much as the native whitetails. they are easier tamed, which i still haven't figured out, and their rack is just so much more impressive than whitetail or mule deer. also much harder to kill, so its more of a sport.

If this picture is actually real, and the large cat isn't photoshopped in I'm pretty sure it's an Elk. The cat is a cougar/mountain lion which only lives in North America. I'm not sure on any European large cats, but there may be one I don't know about. check the wiki http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cougar

red deer also were imported to Texas, where we have the highest free range population on several ranches across the state. which is where i shot mine, which is hanging on my wall as i speak. Mountain lions are also native to texas, which i also have one on my wall, which i shot around the same area.
