[Even more Biased Opinion Alert] Thank you for providing a good argument. However, I don't feel as if the writer realized they were making Augustus idolized from Hazel's point of view. Even if they did, you shouldn't have to watch/read interviews afterwords to get if a character is to be taken seriously or not. I feel as if they just wrote him as if he was the perfect child, who is smooth, always knows what to say, and who puts cigarettes in his mouth because... I... I honestly don't know why. Then, the whole subplot with that writer from Amsterdam and his stupid arc was incredibly dreadful. Or how he just "pops up" in their car when they're at the funeral . Honestly, it felt like a cartoon with trying-to-be adult undertones once they met the writer. Plus, I feel as if the book over romanticizes cancer and death. I don't know if I'm just an asshole, but having to read about two kids talking about what dying is going to be like isn't interesting. That's just my opinion though. I'm sure from other points of view the book was fantastic, or at least ok, but to me, every page dragged on and in the end, everyone's just sad and mopey just like in the beginning except that that one dude is blind, or whatever, but really, who cares?

Youre maybe right, im kinda looking at it from my personal perspective. I just think that id be pretty disapointed if theres a meeting with person whos pretty much a legend of cinematography and he'd start talking about some other things.
Doesnt really matter for me would it be Ian McKellen talking about gay rights, or DeNiro talking about gardening. Id be pretty fucking pissed.
