a) read the author's reasons why she wants men to get vaccinated. It's absurd
b) I have tried to inform myself about this particular vaccine, but I haven't been able to come to a definitive conclusion. It just seems like traditionally, women are at a much higher risk than men (similar to scoliosis), so women traditionally get the vaccine. The author wants more men to get the vaccine so they have an equal chance of negative side effects (even though it's a load of bullocks and the author agrees)
c) I have met some feminazis and men who have fallen prey to them. However, 100% of them live in the NYC or Boston area - traditionally "progressive" cities where I believe this whole thing to have started
d) but I do agree that it is totally stupid and should not be blown up as much as it is. That only makes things worse.
e) in first-world nations gender inequality and racism (umbrella term: bigotry) is still an issue, albeit a very small one. Of course some women or non-whites get treated worse than their white, male counterparts, but it's not that big of a deal in the grand scheme of things. Interracial marriage is not really a hot topic anymore, there are women and people of colour in positions of power and any resistance they get is from old-fashioned conservative bigots who should be dying out in a generation or so.

I'll play devil's advocate for a bit, here: do you really feel a victim of racism? If so, then why can't a woman feel a victim of an old-fashioned patriarchy? Racism and patriarchism (for lack of a better word) WERE big problems up until the 1960s and even continued a bit into the '80s, but I think everyone would agree that they are pretty much done now. Sure, remnants will remain, but is that any reason for any "minority group" to feel victimised?

#9: HPV vaccines that exist today only exist for women in preventing cervical cancer. Because men don't have cervices, the vaccine wouldn't work for them. But the author of the article wants men to get the vaccine anyway so that they have the same risk of the possible negative effects of vaccinations (even though the author doesn't personally believe that vaccines have negative effects). Then read the rest of the list. It's infuriating to say the least. It calls for female dominance instead of equality. But I'm hoping this represents only the NYC extremist feminazi faction rather than all feminists.

PS - feminism is wrong just as masculinism is wrong - equality of genders doesn't come through one gender or the other, rather, it comes from people realizing and celebrating the inherent differences in genders and not treating one gender or the other better or worse because of it (which I believe already happens - women don't get put down in society or special treatment because they can bear children. Men don't get praised or chastised in society because they statistically live shorter lives or have statistically lower IQs)

Just because men don't have cervices does not mean you cannot be immunised to a disease, you create antibodies against antigens on a virus' surface, therefore you destroy the pathogen when it enters the body. The cervix does not act as an intermediary; even leading doctors are debating whether men should be vaccinated due to the health concerns...

I don't care about the 'feminazi' revolution because it is disproportionally blown up on the internet and never in my life have I ever met someone so devoted to feminism as described by the internet, it is not the point I argued.

Equality I'm all for it I myself am subject to racism but gender equality is not an issue in the real world.

it was vaccination against female-only diseases and the reason was that women have more vaccines than men so therefore are more at risk to autism. Yeah - stupid.
#104 - willdawg (06/26/2014) [-]
There are no 'female only' diseases (excluding anything to do with reproductive organs obviously) but there are diseases that only show symptoms in women, e.g some strains of HPV which is the cervical cancer jab. Having men vaccinated against these diseases will reduce transmission as they cannot carry the diseases, yes, men can carry 'female only' diseases. Vaccinations causing autism is irrelevant because having a majority of the population being immunised will erradicate disease.
