1: Even if they used the same type of European sword the results would be similar due to the fact that the stationary sword is braced in place and reinforced from the platform beneath it.
2: The strike performed int the gif is at a 90 degrees, i am not an expert i combat but even i don't see any way that two swords would clash during battle that way. At an angle of 90 the katana has less strength but if it is at a higher degree angle the force of the impact would spread differently and the sword wouldn't bend .
