My last pokemon game was pokemon red on the gameboy color except it was White/black-greenish.

No matter how much shit we give the designers for the new pokemon not being as we remember from the first game(s), the new games are still wonderfully fun and the actual battle mechanics took quite a leap forward in gen4.

Black and White as well as Diamond and Pearl were, at least in my Opinion pretty shitty, but Soul-silver and Heart-gold were awesome as hell. And the ones that will come out this year (X and Y) look pretty good, so I think, those 2 Generations were just a dry period. I mean, they weren´t exactly bad, but they just didn´t have the same feeling of awesome as the other generations.

I think you just grew up.

Not really, I still enjoyed Soul-Silver, for example, which came out after Black and White, if I remember right. growing up won´t happen that early, for me.

Don't get me wrong, I loved my copy of Heartgold more than Diamond (haven't played white or black yet), but I think in 10 years kids will be feeling the same, saying how much they enjoyed diamond or pearl and how the new x69486923-hhahs-indigo is not that good or fresh. I think it's what you felt playing it. trying to get a chansey or a tauros in the first gen was hell to me, as it was defeating blaine or lance, and the the satisfaction or watching your amazingly sprited pokemon in the hall of fame. It's a nostalgia thing I guess, though I think the first games were a bit harder.

my first game was pearl, though i did play previous versions on my friends gameboys.
i didnt have one but i had a DS, so pearl was pretty special to me. i played for a couple of months, finished the story, and went on trying to catch cresselia, but the damn thing kept escaping. i ended up breaking my DS, like an idiot, cause i was pretending i was a ninja and i smashed it with a wooden sword.
