I went to a jesuit highschool and they are perhaps the most open-minded order of Catholicism. That's because they place such a high value on education and knowledge.

Have you looked at the Methodist denomination? Their a protestant denomination that has a much less strict view on those formalities. I grew up in the Methodist church.

Jesus taught in temples all the time actually. But it's important to have a place that makes people feel welcome and where people can gather to learn about God. And I know people could sit out in the open but when the weather isn't that great it could become a major problem and hold up to being able to actually have church. Especially to places with extreme cold or heat.

The Quran never tells it's okay to lie to non-muslims about the Quran, in fact it invites everyone to challenge the Quran sincerely. God says something along the lines of, bring fourth your evidence if you have any. We as muslims have to be completely honest and confident in our way of life, and telling other people about Islam and God in general yields great favor from god himself.

The Quran was never written by the prophet, peace be upon him. In fact, he wasn't able to read nor write. It was conveyed by Muhammed himself reciting God's words directly to an audience filled with both non-believers and believers alike. The audience afterwards remembered the Quran in their hearts, meaning that if Muhammad had recitied something wrong the second time they would've been witness to it. The Quran was only written down by a collective of people who had explicitly remembered the Quran from hearing it every day, after Muhammed, peace be upon him, had died.
