But unless it is absolutely perfect, it will still spread out at least a little bit. Over 85 miles, a little becomes a lot.



The other issue here would be hitting the satellite altogether. The atmosphere does one hell of a job of distorting light, so the beam would go nowhere near where somebody was shining it.

Or in construction terms, they took off the door, put a stud in the door way for somewhere to screw the drywall that they then proceeded to put on on, then the taped and mudded the corners and sides, then the finished it with some paint. Although they missed texturing and priming, it's alright
