Don't know about that one in particular, but on a lot of them, all the buckles and laces are just for show. There's usually a zipper on the other side.

There were well 2 million hairs and they individually named/animated EACH of them. You have no idea how this animation style works, do you?

Except for the fact this is so stupidly wrong. If a group of animators had to animate each individual hair on Sully's body for EVERY FRAME of animation in that film, they'd still be doing it today.
I can believe that each hair is given an individual code (or name) so that it can keep track of them for the final render process, but it's the computer that calculates how the hair moves when the animators input the "wind" value and other factors such as gravity and denseness of the fur.
