I haven't read nearly enough of the DC and Batman comics as I should have, but I have seen a couple of panels from time to time of a romance between them. Plus I was never really keen on Catwoman. I don't mind all the revamps as much as I should. It gives a chance to make what once was shitty decent, but usually the opposite happens. For every 1 good revamp of a formally shitty or obscure character they butcher 10 characters, stories, etc.

The difference between DC and Marvel.

Well she was original not a lesbian, so there is that. Seems like marrying her off to anyone would sort of tie her down (phrasing) and leave room for inconsistencies. No one wants another lois lane to kidnap and make generic terrible stories off of. Kind of goes against the whole bat-trend. I'd tend to concur with DC, looking at Gotham its doubtful they care too much about lgbt. They are shoving that terrible and universally hated love triangle down the worlds throats on a weekly basis.

Oh yeah, I totally agree with you there. Sometimes marrying off characters does constrict the way writers can tell the stories and leaves little room for development, so I can understand if they wanted to keep in that route.

But this isn't the original Batwoman either, this one is more commonly know as Kate Kane, was created back in 2006 and has always been a lesbian, whereas the Golden Age Batwoman is known as Katherine Kane, whom Batman actually married back in those crazy days.

I have noticed that the formerly shitty female dc heroes have been rewritten and have the best stories/comics in new 52. Shame that batwoman got the short end of the stick there. Wonder what the disagreement was about.

If I remember correctly, it's because J.H.Williams III (the original writer/artist) wanted to marry her off to her long-term girlfriend but DC didn't want it to happen. Whether it was to do with gay marriage or they just wanted the character to remain unmarried was unclear, but it probably leant towards the former idea.

I don't have the link to it, but I remember the creators had announced it in an interview or blog or whatever, but due to Nick's restrictions (and possibly stands on gay couples), they couldn't officially announce it or display it.
