| It's not a manly drink, and it's not gonna be too strong, but a Kahlua and coke tastes pretty damn good. Also, Kahlua pre mix mudslides are great for when you just want something to pour over ice and still taste good. Be careful though, some of them are only 5% and some are like...16%. Make sure you buy the 16% if you don't want to drink a whole 40 oz bottle for a buzz. I don't like drinking, and prefer weed instead. That being said, I have drank a variety of different alcoholic beverages, and found some that I rather like. - Bloody Mary - If you like V8 or vegetable juice, this is a pretty good drink. Bonus points if your bartender (like mine) can make it spicy. - Amaretto Sour - This is a really easy drink you can make yourself. Amaretto (a hazelnut liquor, I think) + sour mix. It works in damn near any ratio, and tastes like a savory lemonade. - Kentucky Mule - Made with ginger beer (root beer, but made from ginger instead of sarsparilla or whatever) this is a tasty, refreshing drink. - Cider - Seriously. I don't care for the taste of beer or ale, but cider and fruit-based meads are awesome. Hard apple cider + fireball whisky is my friend's default favorite. In general, look for bars that have craft or microbrew / local beers and draft drinks. Bud / Miller / etc are all mass-produced and (in my opinion) disgusting. Find someone who deals in drinks made with soul, and you'll find the bar you'll enjoy. In my town we have O'Possum's Irish Pub and the Green Dragon Public House. OP has import (Irish) beers and a variety of classic mixed drinks, while the GD has craft and local brews but no liquor. Both places have friendly staff and great food, so we don't mind spending an evening (and pretty penny) at either location. I work in a liqour store and honestly this comes up a lot I generally point them towards rum or vodka for hard liquors Rum tends to be sweeter, I mean it is made from sugar cane or mollases. Both mix well with various sodas Im not great with cocktails, usually if I get a mixed drink its a whiskey 7 or an old fashioned. You could always just stick with beer. Since youre new to drinking I'd say stay away from IPAs and other Pale Ales. Wheat beers are easy drinkers and usually have some citrus notes in them. Hard ciders are also very delicious. Redd's apple ales suck though, seriously I think theyre gross. What are you thinking? I've been recommended rum with vanilla coke I drink vanilla coke like there's no tomorrow. My brother will probably recommend something way too strong for me. I think I'd like something with flavor to it, maybe sweet or sour. I don't plan on drinking a lot, just hanging out with a few friends and enjoying the night. Margaritas are delicious, theyre sweet and usually a bit sour. Cayman Jack makes good premade ones that are either in cans or bottles, also carbonated which I love since carbonation is like the best thing. When I started drinking rum and dr pepper was my shit, over time though it just got too sweet for me to drink more than one of. If you think Rum and Vanilla Coke is just a bit too sweet, Jack and Coke is another common soda mix, or try a whiskey with 7-Up (I actually prefer Sierra Mist in this) Or just go right for the good stuff like single malt scotch. Glenmorangie is a great starting place for single malt scotches. Dont mix these, sip on them over ice in a low baller glass, nothing more. If youre not wanting to do liquor all night pick up some beer. Mexican beers are pretty neutral when you first start drinking. American domestics suck. I like Belgian ales the most, Leffe Blonde is my go to beer. Ciders like Angry Orchard and Woodchuck are also really good. Redd's Apple Ale is gross, malt liquor based and just doesnt taste fresh to me. Redd's Wicked is a hangover in a can. Bud Light does make the 'Ritas and Mixx-Tails which are ok, the Hurricane Mixx-Tail tastes like Hawaiian Punch. Warning though, if youre drinking sugary stuff you will have more of a hangover. Also the whole beer before liquor shit is a myth, hangovers are reliant on how much and whats in your drink, not the order you drink it. #238 -
anon (06/03/2015) [-] Thanks for the advice and recommendations. I'll almost definitely be trying rum with vanilla coke, just to see how I like it. I'll probably drink sparingly, so I can avoid drinking more than I can handle. #150 -
sharkwithrobotarms (06/02/2015) [-] 1. liquor before beer(this is common knowledge to most but it didn't stop me) 2. Any drink with liquor should be drank slower then you would a normal beer(Don't try and show off or you will end up being being dragged home early not remembering shit because you thought killing 3 Long Island Ice teas in 20mins was a good idea) 3. people will buy you shots....a lot of them 4. Know when you're at your limit(If you can't stand and walk maybe you should eat something and start switching to water) 5. You will be hungover. 6. When you go to sleep try to do so in a reclined position(personally I think this helps stop you from throwing up once you start to relax as well as keeping you safe should you start throwing up while you sleep) 7. Personally before going to bed after a long night drinking i like to get online play some games(while drinking water and eating) to help wind down and reduce my hangover and chances of throwing up. 8. don't drink on an empty stomach. | ||
